Chapter 195: Wedding day (part 1)

After they returned to the palace, the atmosphere was lively for the first time, and Rhea was treated with respect by everyone around. Even the Princes wives who never spoke to her before, treated her like a family as she and Draven were invited to join the royal dinner, as it would probably be the last they’d have in the palace after their wedding.

The dinner was lively as well, the family made small talks over dinner. Even prince Zachary treated Rhea well, he had never smiled at her before, but now he did as he congratulated her on their upcoming wedding tomorrow.

As everyone sat for dessert and laughed at Lilac’s broken words, Rhea watched them with teary eyes. She had never known what a family was like, but sitting here with these strangers, who had now become like family, Rhea knew what family felt like.

Family, she thought with a bitter smile, were people who stood by you through thick and thin. Family were people who loved you no matter how flawed you were, but she never had that. She was hated by her own family right from childhood. And tomorrow, she would be getting married with none of her family there to witness or give her away to her husband. She would be a bride who had no one to give her away.

The only person she thought would have done that, was Cal, but he was no more now. He was taken away from her...

Rhea felt Draven’s reassuring hand cover hers under the table as if he knew the bitterness she was feeling. She glanced at him and saw the frown on his face, she smiled to assure him she was alright. Only then did he return his attention back to the king, who she just realized was talking about Azure with his sons.

"Just like Alina, he has gone missing. Those two are up to no good, we shouldn’t let our guards down no matter what." Said prince Zade, as he casually whipped his son’s mouth with a napkin.

"You are right brother, after the wedding tomorrow, we need to have a meeting with the court members to decide what to do with the humans now that their flame leaders are In hiding." Zack remarked.

And thus their discussion carried on about the fire controllers and their leaders. Rhea didn’t let herself dwell on Azure this time, even though she wanted to know what he was up, she shifted her thoughts to what was coming tommorow.

It was finally the wedding day of the once powerful dragon king and his human girl. The entire palace grounds was overflowing with guests from different angles. All of the people attending, were attending the wedding for a different reasons. Some were attending because they were curious about the human traditional wedding, while some were to make sure history doesn’t repeat itself. While most of the young dragon ladies were attending to make the groom regret his choice of picking a plain human girl over them.

As guests were arriving, the bride was getting ready in her room with the maids and the Princes wives helping her.

Rhea sat in front of the mirror as countless hands moved in her hair and face. Just yesterday she had thought she wouldn’t be nervous, but at this moment where she could hear countless voice of the arriving guests, and hearing from Aria how much people were here to witness the wedding, Rhea felt her blood run cold with nervousness. She had assumed the wedding would be just like the one In the border town, with no more than thirty guests, but it turned out more than hundreds of people were attending.

The more she watched herself transform in the mirror, the more she realized she was really getting married to Draven today.

Rhea could barely recognize the beautiful woman staring back at her in the mirror. Her silver hair, adorned with shinny purple pearls that matched the gown she would be wearing today, packed in a lower bun behind her head. Around her eyes, the maids used a kohl to line her eyes to bring out the shape of her large almond eyes. Her lips were stained with a grounded rose lip balm, that added a red color to her lips. Even her cheeks were not spared, a shade of pink color was applied on her cheeks.

"My savior, you is look so lovely!" Lilac exclaimed from the side, where she was seated in front the mirror doing her own weird makeup on her own.

"Lilac, that’s not how to apply the Kohl," Aria said as she saw what the once a little girl, now a young woman was doing to her eyes. She had used the Kohl to smudged around her entire eye lids. "Let me help you with that." Aria took it upon herself to help the girl with the makeup.

Rhea smiled as she watched the two from the mirror; they had become close ever since the day Lilac had brought Valen’s news to Aria, and even though it had broken Aria’s heart, she had still liked the girl because she thought if it wasn’t for Lilac, she would have lost Valen forever. But now she had made up with him and was only looking for the right opportunity to tell her father about him, which Rhea wished them a happy love life.

Finally, Rhea’s makeup was done. The maids brought her wedding gown. She was helped into the beautiful purple gown that tightened around her waist as they fastened the strings behind.

The purple gown was delicately adorned with pearls around the waist line. It’s sleeves were long and made of lace, with it’s low-cut neck line that exposed the swell of her breasts. It was tight around the waist, and draped elegantly from the waist to the hem. Its fabric whispering tales of love and commitment.

She loved it! Rhea thought as she stared at her reflection.

"Wow! You look stunning!" Aria commented.

"You look pretty!" Lilac exclaimed.

"Miss Rhea, you are the most beautiful bride I have ever seen in my life," said the maids.

"Your fiance will go mad seeing you."

Rhea couldn’t help the blush that crept up her face at their compliments. At this moment, she was glad she had picked this particular gown.

Rhea saw her bare neck in the mirror and immediately recalled the necklace Draven had given her last night. She opened the drawer beside her dressing mirror and brought out the necklace. She handed it to the maid to help her wear it, and the maids looked at the necklace in wonderment.

"Miss Rhea, this is a rare piece in our world. There are only two of this, and only his Majesty bought one, and now it seems Lord El-Dezeus has bought the other one for you. He really does love you enough to spend a fortune on a necklace." Remarked the maid as she fastened the necklace around her neck.

Rhea stared at the necklace in her reflection. Draven hadn’t actually said he loved her in words, but his actions spoke louder than words. However, she desired to hear him say those words someday.

After Rhea was completely done, all the women in the room showered her with compliments. And then they began to leave the room, saying she shouldn’t step out until someone comes to get her. Thus, Rhea was left alone in the room.

However, not long after everyone left, she heard a flash sound in the room and quickly turned to see who came in, but to her utter disbelief, the last person she had expected to see stood in her room.

"What...what are you doing here? Don’t come any closer or I won’t hesitate to hit you, Azure." Rhea warned as she jerked off her chair, suddenly alarmed at the fact that she was alone in the room and Azure could teleport away with her with no one knowing.
