Chapter 194: Our home

Chapter 194: Our home

With tears welling in her eyes, Rhea shook her head but managed to hold them back as she uttered, "Draven... I think we should postpone the wedding for now until we are certain of..."

Draven, caught off guard by Rhea’s words, swiftly swirled her around before she could finish speaking. His intense gaze met her teary eyes, and he asked with concern, "You don’t want to marry me anymore?"

Rhea shook her head repeatedly, her voice shaky but determined, "No, I just think it might be best if we don’t do it now, you..."

Interrupting her again, Draven said, "I never knew you to back out of your decisions. If you truly love me and want to marry me, nothing should stand in our way. The wedding will happen tomorrow, no matter what."

Rhea was overwhelmed with happiness, knowing he was also desperate to marry her as much as she was, but considering a few things, she had realized it was best they didn’t rush to get married now. She hadn’t considered everything more carefully before she had proposed they got married, but now she had.

With tears streaming down Rhea’s face, she wrapped her arms around Draven’s waist and buried her head in his chest, crying out, "We can still stay together without getting married."

Taken aback, Draven pushed away from the hug and cupped her tear-stained face. She had wanted to marry him just a day before yesterday, but now she was suddenly changing her mind? Softly, he asked, "Why don’t you want us to get married now?"

Avoiding his intense gaze that bore down at her, Rhea replied honestly, "Because I know the thought of marriage still brings back the bad memories from your past. I don’t want to be the reason you’re reminded of any bad memories, and you have once told me you will only find peace after Alina’s death, but she is still alive. I don’t want..."

Draven silenced her with a demanding kiss, he crushed his lips against her like a starving man hanging on to his only life source. He bit down on her lips as if to punish her for suggesting they postpone their wedding, he then soothed the bite with his tongue, he used his tongue to trace the outline of her mouth. He pulled back only when he knew she wouldn’t speak again. Breathlessly, he declared, "You are my remedy, Rhea. With you in my life, no memories are strong enough to make me back out. We will get married tomorrow, and that’s final."

Rhea couldn’t help the tears of joy that swelled her eyes, her throat tightened with emotions. She still had many more reasons to suggest so the wedding wouldn’t happen, but how could she? She wanted to marry him and wanted to love him so much that at this moment all the thoughts that the wedding should be prosponed disappeared from her mind.

She nodded in agreement, "Yes, the wedding will happen tomorrow. We will get married tommorow," she hugged him back again, and she felt his arms automatically tighten around her body. He pressed his lips on her head and ran his hand up and down her back.

After being held in his arms for a while, Draven finally broke the silence. "You frightened me earlier, I thought you no longer wanted me. And I thought all the preparations I had been making all day would be wasted."

Draven had been busy since yesterday after they announced their wedding, and he had come here to find some solace in Rhea’s presence, but instead he was met with her words of postponing the wedding he had been eagerly looking forward to, after building a home for them.

"What preparations were you making?" She asked with curiosity.

A smile appeared on Draven’s face. "I was constructing a home for us. Just a few meters away from this palace, I built our house," he confessed.

Rhea pulled away from his chest in surprise, "You built a house for us?" She asked in astonishment, she had believed they would live here even after their wedding as Draven had no intentions of rebuilding his clan, but now he built a home for them?

Draven nodded proudly, "Yes, I came here to bring you there."

Rhea’s surprise increased, "What? You mean the building is done already?" She asked.

Draven nodded again, "I had some help from the princes, we combined our powers and built it. The only thing remaining is getting some furnitures in, and that too is being arranged by the servants. Would you like to take a look around our house before tommorow?"

Rhea nodded eagerly. She loved the thought of having a home with Draven. And she couldn’t hide her happiness as he held her hand and led her out of the palace gates.

As they walked hand in hand away from the palace, Rhea noticed a different-looking building in the distance, less icy and more human-like. And she knew immediately it was their house, as she could see a few dragons flying above it carrying things into the grounds.

As they entered through the humongous gate of the building, the beauty of the mansion came into her complete view. There were still a few Dragons around the grounds carrying things into the mansion. Rhea’s eyes widened in astonishment.

"This is our house?" She asked in disbelief as they entered the hall of the mansion, where she felt her shoes sink into the soft luxurious red carpet adoring the grounds to the stairs.

"Yes, this is our home." Draven beaming with pride seeing that his future wife liked what he had built for them. He had taken back all the wealth that once was his, and he had decided to make use of them. He wanted to give Rhea the life she was deprived of by her family, he wanted to make her happy and have a home of theirs. He knew she had always wanted to live a noble life and have her own money; and all that he would give to her now.

Draven guided Rhea upstairs and showed her to each room. They had a total of twenty rooms upstairs, she was pleasantly surprised by the refined elegance of each rooms. It was almost unbelievable that Draven had built the house in a short period of time. But then, when magic was involved, nothing was impossible.

Finally, Draven led her to their bedroom where they would be sharing after their wedding. As he opened the door, the room unfolded before Rhea like a dream. The bed, expansive and inviting, dominated the space, adorned with luxurious fabrics in hues of deep purple and yellow.

Rhea’s eyes widened as she noticed the beautiful balcony, where there was a see through door that sperated it from the bedroom, a private escape overlooking the winter landscape. She walked towards it and opened the door, stepping out, she was captivated by the view of the distant palace bathed in moonlight.

Rhea couldn’t believe this beautiful place would be their home, it was too beautiful to be real. She was even more surprised when Draven pulled her into another door in their bedroom. Her eyes widened as she realized it was a big walk in closet that was already filled with clothes. On the right side were female clothes, while on the left were male clothes.

The clothes in the room, Rhea thought, she would take forever before she could wear them all, not to mention the shoes as well. It was a closet right out of a girl’s fantasy. And right in front of her was a huge floor length mirror.

Rhea stood frozen in spot as tears swelled up in her eyes again. She felt her throat tighten with emotions. She was too happy that tears streamed down her cheeks.

Turning to Draven, she hugged him tightly, "Thank you. I’m so proud and happy with our beautiful home."

Draven smiled, the smile that reached his eyes and he hugged her. "I should be the one to thank you, Rhea, you saved me."

He pushed away from the hug and walked through the closet, he brought out a large velvet box of jewelry. He opened the lid of the box and withdrew a triple strand of the largest, most magnificent pearls Rhea had ever seen.

Wordlessly he turned her toward the floor length mirror and pushed her long sliver hair aside. His fingers sent tiny tremors down her spine as he removed the aquamarines and laid the wide, heavy pearl choker around her slim neck.

In the mirror, Rhea watched his softened features as he fastened the diamond clasp at the back of her neck, then lifted his eyes to hers, studying the pearl choker at her throat in the mirror. "Lilac said you didn’t buy any jewelry for the wedding, so I bought this for you. Do you like it?"

Fascinated by the beauty of the choker, Rhea ran her fingers around it’s pearls. "I’ve never seen such beautiful necklace before. It looks fit for a queen."

"Yes, they belonged to an ancient queen. This is the last piece left in history, so I bought it for you." he explained.

"It must be expensive then?" Rhea’s eyes widened, "You shouldn’t have gotten it for me. You..."

"Shh." He pressed a finger to her lips, "Rhea, I am no longer that penny less man in Birhhan, I have the money to buy a hundred more of that necklace you’re wearing now. You shouldn’t bother yourself with how much I spend on you. If you want anything, I will buy them for you." He said, "Lilac told me you didn’t want to spend money on your dress. Don’t ever hesitate to spend again, understand?"

Rhea obediently nodded her head. She had become accustomed to feeling that Draven had no money that now that he had, she couldn’t bring herself to spend it wantonly.

Only after she nodded did Draven removed his finger from her lips and pecked her lips, "We are getting married tommorow, are you nervous?"

Rhea shook her head and smiled, "I’m not nervous. We’ve been married before in the border town, remember?"

Draven laughed, remembering how Rhea had gotten angry when he kissed her cheeks after the wedding vows, "You weren’t easy on me when you straddled me on our wedding night. That wasn’t very nice."

He smiled, thinking that those memories now felt distant. His life as Jurian seemed like a faded dream. However, he would always be grateful to Jurian’s grandmother. If it wasn’t for her, he would have never met Rhea.

Blushing, Rhea remembered her actions, but she had thought he was the serpent pretending to be the general. And when he kissed her cheek, she felt disgusted. "Well, it’s not my fault, you admitted to being the serpent that bit me," she remarked as they walked out of the closet and back to the balcony.

"Hmm," Draven hummed, then added, "Do you still remember how you threatened to make me infertile by kicking me in the groin? Ouch, that used to be painful." He admitted.

Rhea blushed deeply again. Indeed, she had done that. "I don’t regret it, I kicked you because you wanted to drain me of life," she defended.

Draven frowned, "And what if I had become infertile from all those kicks?" He positioned himself behind her on the balcony, placing his hands on either side of her and holding the balcony rails, trapping her between him and the rail.

Heat rushed to Rhea’s face as she felt his body pressed intimately against hers, and she could feel his hardened groin against her backside. Aware of him, she managed to say, "You couldn’t have become infertile from just a few kicks, could you?" She asked, sounding almost innocent.

Draven smirked mischievously, "Well, there’s only one way to find out. We’ll see if everything still works properly tomorrow night." He promised as he moved away from her and said, "Let’s go back to the palace, tomorrow is a big day."
