Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 174: Feeling remorseful
Chapter 174: Feeling remorseful
Draven zoomed through the air at top speed, paying no attention to the man dangling from his claw. His sole focus was returning Rhea to the Dragon realm and tending to her injuries. Ignoring the chaos of the fire controllers’ battle in the borders, Draven soared past without a care.
As soon as Draven descended, Ethan and Lilac spotted him from across the palace. The duo sprinted toward Rhea’s room, with Lilac shouting, "My savior! My savior!"
Lilac had been the first to sense that something was amiss with Rhea as they had a bond, but she couldn’t pinpoint what had happened. She and Ethan had been anxiously awaiting Draven and Rhea’s arrival. Before they even reached where Draven had descended, he’d already gotten to Rhea’s room and had gently placed her on the bed and then told a servant to fetch a doctor urgently.
Lilac ran towards the bed, "Is my savior dead, Mister?! My savior!" She jumped onto the bed and hovered over Rhea’s injured figure.
Rhea’s eyes slowly opened at Lilac’s loud voice. "Quiet, Lilac. I’m alive," she croaked. Her voice was hoarse, but she felt much better than before. It was as if the scales on her body had helped alleviate her wound. However, any slight movement caused pain in her chest.
Relief washed over Lilac, "Good mother of fairy, you is alive!"
Lilac’s loud voice gave Rhea a pounding headache. The girl was leaning over her on the bed, trying to examine her chest wound.
Draven noticed Rhea’s discomfort and furrowed his brow. He walked around the bed, grabbed Lilac by her dress collar, and effortlessly carried her to the window. He threw her outside and closed the window before she could climb back up.
Draven walked back towards the bed and asked Ethan impatiently, "Where is the damn doctor?"
"She’s on her way, she must be busy with the injured soldiers." Ethan said unhappily, "You two ditched me and left. You pulled a childish trick on me with my brother, that was very immature of you guys. I was kind enough to want to..."
"Shut up and take that man to your father." Draven cut him off and gestured towards Enzo.
Ethan cursed under his breath for being cut off before he could complain. He was about to berate Draven when he realized there was another man in the room shivering uncontrollably in the corner. Ethan sized up the shivering man, whose face looked deathly pale from the cold, his teeth were chattering.
Ethan frowned, "Draven, why did you bring back an ordinary man to the dragon realm? I am already worrying about a lot of things, and now you are sending me to take this shivering fool to my father?!" He rebuked harshly eyeing the man.
Draven shot Ethan a sharp glance and mildly said, "He’s your brother-in-law, watch how you speak to him."
Ethan scoffed, "My brother-in-law? I have none, and I show respect to no human, he could freeze to death for all I care, I have no brother-in-law. He..." Ethan paused and glanced at Enzo again, "Heavens! Are you sister Aurora’s..."
Enzo, who was suffering from the bone-chilling cold, looked back at Ethan. He hugged his arms tightly around his body and was unable to speak due to his uncontrollable shivering.
Ethan turned to look at Draven, "Are you sure he is the man my sister married in the human realm?"
Draven was pressing down on Rhea’s bleeding wound with his powers, he was completely focused on her and didn’t even reply to Ethan. Thus Enzo stepped forward and slowly bowed his head at the young prince, "My n-name is Enzo, I am Aurora’s h-husband." He introduced with chattering teeth.
Ethan still looked shocked, he was stunned beyond words. His late sister had always talked to him about her husband and how much he cared and loved her. Even though Ethan had never met the man, he had liked him from the letters he exchanged with his sister. It was almost unbelievable that Draven brought the man, who he believed was living with Alina.
Ethan cleared his throat, and said, "Come with me, I will get you a medicine that will help you deal with the cold before I take you to my father."
Enzo didn’t follow Ethan immediately and glanced at Draven, who didn’t have to look at him before he replied flatly, "Make sure you avoid me as much as possible, I only brought you here to be a hostage. Go with him." He didn’t want to be reminded of the suffering he had endured because of this man, so it would be wise to keep his distance in order to avoid causing him harm. Draven thought.
Enzo simply bowed, "Thank you, sir." Then left with Ethan.
The room cleared, leaving Rhea and Draven alone. Rhea winced as she felt Draven gently pressed down on her bleeding chest. Her eyes fluttered open to meet his worried expression. His normally stoic demeanor had crumbled, revealing a deeper concern he rarely showed.
Draven was sitting on the edge of her bed, one leg bent on the mattress and the other on the floor, facing her. It allowed him to be closer to her, to assess her condition and provide comfort before the doctor’s arrival. Without looking directly at her and focusing on stopping her bleeding, he asked in a hushed tone, "Are you in pain?"
Summoning a faint smile, she lied, "No, I’m not...." She wanted to alleviate that worried look from his face. But she was in so much pain.
But Draven, knowing her well, glanced up, and Rhea couldn’t help but admire his strikingly handsome face. His chiseled jawline, those captivating blue eyes, and the vulnerability he wore now as he searched her face as if to detect if she was lying.
Rhea couldn’t help but playfully tease, "In the past, you’ve stabbed me more than once in that cave, but now you look so worried as if a part of you has been hurt."
Draven’s jaw tightened, guilt and anger surging within him as he remembered his past actions of heartlessly stabbing her in that cave; not once, but twice, or was it three times? He regretted doing so, and right now that she reminded him of it, it could only mean that the scene was still craved in her heart.
"I hurt you in the past because I didn’t take you as anything important," he admitted remorsefully. "I was merely taking advantage of you. But now, you are more than that, because I think I am..."
Before he could finish his sentence, the doctor arrived in the room, interrupting the moment, and his words were buried beneath the urgency of the situation.
