Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 173: His enemy’s lover

Chapter 173: His enemy’s lover

After Draven had found Rhea, he had no reasons to waste his time in Alina’s mansion; even though he wanted to stay and wait for Alina’s return, he knew he couldn’t because Rhea needed a doctor as soon as possible. She was still bleeding and her breathing was labored.

Draven saw how much blood she was losing. Then, he finally glanced towards his scales that had been made into a robe by Alina to obviously give to her lover. His scales had the powers to heal and safeguard the person wearing them. He quickly picked it up and draped it over Rhea’s body.

Rhea, on the brink of losing consciousness, sensed Draven placing something cold over her body. She weakly opened her eyes and realized it was his scales. She was too weak to question why he was covering her with it instead of wearing it himself. However, even the slightest movement caused a sharp pain in her chest, as if a knife were still cutting into her flesh. Eventually, she succumbed to unconsciousness.

Draven gathered Rhea back into his arms and stood up. He left the ruined mansion with long steady strides. But Just as he was about to transform into his Dragon form, he heard a rustling sound from the ruined mansion behind him. He turned over his shoulder and saw a figure hurrying towards him.

Draven swirled around in alert only to see that the person was an ordinary human male. The man was a lean built and tall, his slightly blonde hair and fair face was covered in dirt and ashes, he was limping as if he was injured on his leg. He was limply running towards him, "Wait please!" He called out.

Although the man’s face was stained with dirt, it didn’t hide his sharp handsome features. However, something about his physique looked fragile. He almost fell while he hurried towards Draven panting and clutching his chest.

When he approached Draven he asked, "Sir, are you from the Dragon realm?" Despite the fact that he was breathless, his tone was reserved and calm just like his face.

Draven, however didn’t have to ask who he was because he knew immediately he saw the man running towards him. The man was none other than Enzo, the same man who had caused his fate, and also caused his path to cross with Alina. Alina had done all those evil things for this man, had stabbed him on their wedding day for this man, and also peeled off his scales for him.

Draven felt his blood boil with rage at the sight of the man, but then he reminded himself that the man was innocent, he probably had no idea all the things Alina had done for him to be alive today. However, Draven just couldn’t help the resentment in his heart towards the man, thus he acted like he didn’t hear his question and turned to leave.

"Sir, please I need your help!" Enzo desperately called back as he saw Draven was walking away.

Draven halted again, and frowned down at the man who was just two inches shorter than he was, "What?" He asked, his tone betraying his irritation. Draven had no reasons to help the man nor listen to him and whatever he wanted. Enzo might be innocent but he wanted nothing to do with him, and if the man pushed him too much, Draven feared he might lose his temper and hurt him.

Enzo could tell the stranger he was asking for help was irritated and didn’t seem to like him, but he was too desperate to care about all that. He wanted to get out of this hellhole before Alina returned, and the only place he could go to without her coming after him was the dragon realm.

Enzo was going to tell the stranger what he needed help with, but the man started to walk away again as if he wasn’t interested in hearing him out.

Enzo hurriedly blocked Draven’s path. "My name is Enzo, I know you are a dragon because I saw you from the window of my room fighting with the fire controllers. Please, sir if you could give me a flight to the Dragon realm, I’d appreciate it so much." He pleaded calmly but desperately.

Draven didn’t even bother to listen to the man, he turned to walk away again, but this time Enzo quickly grabbed his sleeve, not caring of the consequences. His world was a whirlwind of desperation and fear as he clung to Draven’s sleeve. He could feel the icy chill of Draven’s indifference, like a winter’s frost creeping over him. The shiver down his spine was an involuntary response to the tension in the air.

Draven’s blue eyes darkened dangerously as he glanced down at the hand holding him back, "Let go." He warned coldly.

Instead of letting go, Enzo’s fingers tightened on Draven’s sleeve, a lifeline to a hope he desperately needed. "Please sir, I know you don’t know me and you have no reason to help me, but listen to me once." He begged, his voice raw and filled with emotion.

But Draven’s refusal was as cold and unyielding as the steel of a sword. "I said let go, I am not interested in listening to you."

Enzo refused to let go because he knew the moment he let go, he would transform into his Dragon form and fly away. But when he didn’t let go, Draven jerked away, his abrupt motion caused Enzo to lose his fragile balance.

With a gasp, Enzo tumbled to the unforgiving ground, the shock of the fall causing his fragile heart to race and his chest to constrict. He clutched at his heart, fear and pain mingling in a bitter cocktail.

Kneeling on the ground, he bowed his head in submission, his voice quivering as he explained his desperate plea to Draven. "Sir, I am just an ordinary human with no magic, I used to be a commoner when Alina took me away from my loved ones insisting I was her husband. Sir, she heartlessly killed my wife and my...child," his voice cracked as he spoke, "she forced me to stay against my wills. I want to avenge my family, I want Alina to suffer for killing the woman I love. please, I need to leave this please before she returns..." Enzo paused, but his head remained bowing down before he added,

"You can take me to your king in the Dragon realm, he can use me to get back on Alina for killing his daughter. I will be the Dragons hostage. Alina seems to care about me, she will surely do anything to get me back, the king can use me to get to her. Please sir..."

Draven heard everything the man said but remained unmoved, a silent sentinel of indifference.

Enzo’s heart sank as he could tell the dragon before him wasn’t moved and wouldn’t help him. The world felt empty, the coldness of Draven’s impending transformation and rejection settling like a heavy shroud over Enzo’s fragile hope. Even without looking, he could tell Draven had transform into his Dragon form. It was as if he had been cast aside, abandoned in a world that offered no solace. Alina would be back, and she would continue to force him to live with her. Perhaps he should take this opportunity to just kill himself before she returns...

And then, when Enzo had given up all hope that the dragon before him wouldn’t help him, the world shifted around him. Enzo felt a powerful force envelop him, lifting him off the ground. As he dangled in mid-air, he realized that Draven had granted his desperate request. The breathtaking view of the world below, the realization of being suspended by the sheer power of a dragon claw made his heart rate increase.

Enzo’s emotions were a tumultuous whirlwind of fear, gratitude, and disbelief. His fingers clung desperately to Draven’s claw, the sensation of the roughness beneath his hands a stark reminder of the otherworldly being that held him aloft.

"Thank you, sir!" He yelled over the wind that blew around him, but all he received was a growl from the Dragon. Enzo was grateful, he would finally get to see the world his wife grew up in. Furthermore, another reason he wanted to go to the dragon realm was to apologise to his late wife’s father and her family and also meet the brothers Aurora had so happily told him about in the past, and her little brother who she seemed to cherish the most. He was ready to be used by the Dragons as long as Alina would be brought to justice.
