Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 157: Your guardian
Chapter 157: Your guardian
Draven and Rhea arrived at the royal library with Lilac trailing behind them like a tail to where Ethan sat engrossed with the big brown book in his hand. But as if sensing their arrival, he looked away from the book, his dark blue eyes immediately brightened up as he saw Rhea.
He beamed and stood up from his sit,"Oh you’re here, Rhea, I’ve been waiting for you." his tone was filled with an unmasked excitement, as if the sight of her was enough to brighten his soul. Of course, it was, she was the only human girl to take his breath away with her bravery. And he had sworn to do anything to make her see him in a good light, and perhaps even consider his offer of making her his future bride someday.
Furthermore, with her decision to change her bones, it would only make things much more perfect for their future. She would be able to live longer to stay by his side, and he intended to see to it that all the process of the changing of bones went well without any mistakes. He had even stayed up all night to find the book she would be needing as a guide.
Ethan was so lost in his thoughts as he stared at Rhea’s beautiful face, that seemed to glow this morning as if she’d finally gotten to sleep well. Despite being a human, her beauty was like that of a dragon female. And he intended to be the man to help her in all these processes, as he could bet that Draven barley knew anything about changing bones like the east clan did.
He would impress Rhea and make sure he was the one to be her guardian. He would rub it on Draven’s face right at this moment, which was why he had asked that talkative purple creature to bring both of them to the library to meet him.
Ethan puffed his chest forward as Rhea and Draven stood before him, he then held out the ancient book he had been studying for three days, but hadn’t yet understood it well,
"It’s good that you’re here early, I have gotten the book that will serve as a guideline for your race changing, however the book is written with an ancient language of Dragons. Actually it wasn’t easy finding it and understanding it, so since you don’t understand the language, I will be the one to study it and practice the process with you everyday until the change is complete." He handed the book to Rhea, and then added with a grin,
"Since you will be practicing with me, I have made arrangements for you to move to my palace, that way, everything will be easier for us." He said, while looking at Draven with a triumphant glint in his dark orbs. He’d like to see how the man would get into his palace and order him around or throw him out of Rhea’s room like she was his. If Rhea moved into his palace, Ethan planned to do the same thing Draven had been doing to him everytime he wanted to see Rhea, he would slam the door on his face and tell him Rhea shall not be disturbed.
Despite Ethan’s mocking gaze towards Draven, Draven barley spared the lad a glance before taking the book from Rhea, who seemed to be staring at the foreign words written on the book cover.
"Magical guide to changing bones," He read the foreign words written on the cover to Rhea, he then swiftly began to flip through the book pages, with eyes moving through the words. Before any of the them could ask what he was doing, Draven had flipped to the last page and looked up with a frown,
"It’s not complete, where is the ending?" He asked the bewildered young Prince, who looked at him stunned, "What? It’s not complete?" Ethan was taken aback by those words, he’d been studying the book for days, but he actually hadn’t read the ending to know that it was incomplete.
Ethan took the book back from Draven and flipped to the last page, it took him more than a minute to read through the words to realize Draven was right.
"Why isn’t it complete?" Ethan whispered. "It’s the only remaining book in our clan on bone transformation."
Draven simply tucked his hands into his trouser pockets and nonchalantly shrugged, "Perhaps you aren’t smart enough to have finished reading the entire content to understand that the book in your possession is not the original. The original book was written by a magical hybrid Dragon in my clan, and I still remember the ending and the process, unlike the plagiarized book you seem to struggle with."
Draven’s casual indirect insult infuriated Ethan. "You’re joking! You just glanced through the pages and think you know it’s not original? You don’t..."
Draven cut him off with a low dark chuckle that reverberated throughout the vast library, Draven realized he hadn’t intended to engage in showing his superiority over the prince. However, it seemed the young man was forgetting that he wasn’t an ordinary Dragon, and as much as Ethan carried his pride on his sleeves, so did Draven. And most importantly, he wouldn’t allow anyone to come between him and Rhea.
"Ethan, find something else to occupy your time. Rhea doesn’t need you as her guardian in this matter. I will be enough for her, and I will guide her through this process." Turning his attention to Rhea, he added tenderly, "I will be your guardian. Once your wounds have healed, we will begin the process."
Rhea nodded like an obedient child as she had no idea what the two seemed to be fussing about. However, one thing was for sure, Draven didn’t want her to get too close to Ethan, and he certainly didn’t want her to move to Ethan’s palace. But why? It wasn’t like they were in some sort of relationship for him to keep her away from any male except himself.
Rhea gazed at Draven’s striking profile, she stared at him for a long time as if trying to figure out what was going on In his mind. But he looked down at her with a raised brow, "Is there something on my face that’s got you staring at me like that?" He asked, sounding amused.
She quickly looked away and said, "Nothing." She felt like Draven was an endless book, no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t figure out what goes in his mind.
