Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 156: The letter

Chapter 156: The letter

Rhea stared blankly at the letter brought to her by Lilac awhile ago when Draven had returned her to the room. Lilac had said it was delivered by a magical messenger bird from the human realm, who she happened to come across when she was playing with the royal children in the palace ground.

Rhea had been surprised to receive a letter from the human realm as she knew no one would care to message her, but when she saw it was from her stepsister, Delia, she had been a bit happy that perhaps Delia was worried about her and sent a letter to know if she was alright, but to Rhea’s disappointment, what she read in the letter only opened up the deep wound she was trying to cover up in her heart.

She couldn’t believe how foolish she was to think that her stepsister would send her a letter to know how she was doing.

Rhea smiled bitterly as she reread the contents of the letter that only broke her heart.

The letter reads; [ To my hateful sister. I hope my message reaches you in one piece, because I pray wherever you are, you shall never find happiness for killing the man I love. Cal was a great man, he cared about you dearly, but In the end you payed him back with hatred.

Lady Oriana had told me everything that happened that night, because Cal tried to stop you from escaping with your dragon lover, you activated the spell to end his life. Father was right when he called you a cursed seed and a disgrace, you have brought nothing but bad luck to our family. I curse the day I treated you right, and I certainly curse the day I suggested to Cal that we let you out of that hole, where you should have died.

I shall never forgive you for taking away my happiness, and I shall pray you get caught again. And before I forget, you are a most wanted criminal In the entire human realm, and I hope you get caught and die a miserable death. You are a killer right from birth, a killer who killed her own mother and cause misery to everyone close to her. I want you to put this in mind, you will never belong anywhere!]

Rhea felt her eyes burned with tears, but instead of letting herself cry, she let herself laugh, and angrily crushed the letter in her fist. Her fist trembled from the force she used to crush the letter.

Of course, Oriana wouldn’t admit to killing Cal, she had obviously changed the story that Rhea had activated the spell and made everyone believed she’d killed him. And as dumb as the people of Birhhan, they would believe anything the Credan’s said.

Rhea felt a lump of rage swell in her chest, Oriana had activated the spell and killed Cal, yet she had the guts to tell People that Rhea had activated the spell? This only made Rhea more determined to avenge Cal, her family could hate her for all she cared. After all, they stopped being her family the day she was put in the execution hole.

Ever since Draven had brought her back to the room and she’d read the letter, Rhea had continue sitting in daze. She had also told Lilac not to disturb her, she didn’t even glance at the food the servants had brought her and instead decided to sleep.

Rhea fell asleep immediately she laid her head on the pillow, however, she was plunged into another nightmare, that had been triggered by the letter she’d read.

In her dreams, she saw Cal standing with blood dripping off his body and pooling up around him, he stared at her with a complicated expression that looked somewhat in despair. Rhea tried her best to reach him, but no matter how much she tried, she couldn’t reach him.

"Cal," she called, "I am finally being hated by everyone, but don’t worry, I don’t care if they all hate me, I will avenge your death, they will all pay."

Cal frowned, but when he opened his bloody mouth to speak, nothing came out, his mouth was moving, but she didn’t hear a word he said. Before she knew it, she jolted awake.

Rhea stared blankly at her reflection on the iced celling. She felt her injuries flared up as she tried to move. Since she knew sleeping after waking up in the middle of night would be impossible, she decided to go and soak in the healing pool.

Draven had suggested that she used one of the rooms In the Queen’s palace until she was completely healed, and right now, she was thankful he had suggested that, at least she could walk back and soak on her own since he wasn’t around.

Rhea draped over her utter robe to cover her revealing nightdress, and walked towards the pool. The night was quiet and still as she walked to the ice fence.

The healing pool not only healed her injuries, but it also calmed her mind earlier when she had soaked in it.

Since there were no servants or Draven around the pool, Rhea decided to take off all her clothes. Her nightdress slid down her legs and she slowly walked into the pool, but Rhea stopped in her tracks when she thought she felt some movement In the pool.

She looked around, but it seemed she had imagined the movement, because the pool looked still. Thus she proceeded into the milky water and took a relaxing breath as it’s coldness seeped into her burning injuries.

Rhea moved to the pool’s edge and sat on the steps that led into the water. She leaned back and closed her eyes, unaware of the person submerged beneath the surface.

Draven remained still beneath the pool, not making a single movement until he sensed Rhea had become still. Slowly, he lifted his head out of the water and noticed that she had fallen asleep, her head swaying from side to side. He hadn’t expected her to come here at such a late hour. His own Dragon form needed healing, so he had come at night, knowing she would be here during the day.

At first when he saw her come into the fence, he had intended to make his presence known, but upon seeing her remove her clothes, he had submerged himself to avoid any awkwardness.

But Instead of leaving when he saw that she was asleep, Draven gazed at her sleeping face. He could tell that sleeping in such a position was uncomfortable, with her head swaying like that. He approached her slowly, sitting beside her on the step. He raised his hand and gently pulled her head to rest on his shoulder. To his surprise, Rhea mumbled some unclear words and then wrapped her arms around his, leaning on him. He could feel the softness of her breast grazing against the arm she was hugging, causing his body to tense up.

Even in her sleep, she managed to torment him. He realized that this was going to be a long night for him if she continued to hold his arm like this.

Rhea woke up to the brightness of the morning light. She stretched her limbs, but realized she was still sitting at the pool’s steps. However, she felt much better, her entire night’s sleep was peaceful without any nightmare. Nonetheless, the only dream she had was feeling someone beside her the entire night, someone who made her feel like home, and gave her a sense of peace. It looked like it was true when they said the pool had the ability to heal ones body and soul, because she felt much better than ever.

Before Rhea could react, she heard the sound of footsteps and a tiny voice calling, "My savior! My savior!"

Rhea listened as Lilac’s tiny feet hurriedly approached, calling out, "My savior, the prideful prince is searching for you and Mister’s whereabout. He told that it is the matters of changing your bones!" Lilac had given Ethan the nickname "The prideful prince" after their first encounter.

Rhea calmly responded, "I’ll be out in a moment, but please don’t come inside." She emerged from the water, grabbed her nightdress, and quickly put it on. Then, she wrapped herself in her robe and made her way towards the direction of Lilac’s voice. As she walked, she squeezed the water out of her hair, not bothering to look back, and thus missed the slight ripple in the pool as she departed.

When Lilac saw Rhea approaching, her purple eyes brightened up, she then asked, "My savior, you slept in the water?"

"Yes. And I’ve told you to stop calling me that, you can address me by my name," Rhea said as they walked.

"No, myself can not do such thing." She refused with a grin, that made Rhea questioned, "Why do you look excited?"

Lilac’s smile widened, "Myself is happy because, myself has made a lot of acquaintance in the palace. The small Princess’ likes me, and Myself made them laugh and happy. Myself put them in fake world and makes them happy!"

"I see," Rhea said, "but I hope you let them out and didn’t trap them in your world?"

Lilac pouted, "Of course, myself brought them back to the real world. They all really like it so much, so myself gets to eat their happy satisfaction!" Lilac exclaimed, then looked up at Rhea, "Are you sure you don’t want myself to give you happy memories?"

"No, I just want a good night’s sleep with no nightmares."

The two chattered as they headed to go and meet Ethan, but Rhea suddenly realized something and looked down at Lilac, "Lilac, were you with me last night in the pool, and did you happen to take away my nightmare?"

Lilac was taken aback, "No, myself sleeped in the beautiful room bestowed upon me by Mister. Did my savior saw me last night?"

Rhea shook her head, but before she could respond, she heard footsteps from behind and turned to see Draven emerging from the Queen’s palace. She noticed that his hair appeared slightly damp, as if he had recently taken a bath.

"Draven, did you also stay in the Queen’s palace?" she asked as he approached them.

Before Draven could answer, Lilac interjected, "Mister, did you also sleep in the po..."

Draven gave the fairy a stern look, causing her to immediately fall silent. He then turned to Rhea and said, "Yes, let’s go. I heard Ethan is looking for you." With that, he didn’t wait for them and walked ahead, massaging his shoulder as if he had slept in an uncomfortable position.

When Lilac noticed that he had walked away, she whispered to Rhea, "My savior, Mister just lied to you. He didn’t sleep in any room."

Of course, Rhea could tell that he had lied, but she didn’t want to pry into his affairs.
