Bound To The Ice Dragon King
Chapter 138: To save him

Chapter 138: To save him

Rhea held her burning arm where the force had hit her, she’d managed to balance herself on the ground, before turning towards Azure, who stood in front of his comrades.

He stood firm and tall with a mildly broad build, dark long hair that went past his shoulders, his usually friendly and charming smile was non existent on his face at the moment, his chocolate brown eyes showing sternness as he stared at Rhea like she was an enemy that ought be dealt with.

However, apart from his cold demeanor and sternness, nothing changed about him from the last time she’d seen him, he still was as good looking as ever, with features that were as beautiful as the immortal he was. Nonetheless, his presence no longer sparked any form of excitement that always bubbled in her whenever she saw him in the past. All she felt was blandness.

"Azure, thank goodness you’ve arrived on time..." Oriana ran towards him, limping. The rim of her eyes looked red from her fake tears, "Azure, look what that wench did to me." She cried, as if she had endured severe mistreatment at Rhea’s hands.

Rhea scoffed at the pitiful sight of Oriana. In the past, she would have become angry and jealous, seeing Oriana attempt to gain Azure’s sympathy by acting weak in his presence. However, now she found it amusing that the arrogant woman was trying to capture his attention by portraying herself as a helpless damsel in distress.

Rhea let out a cold laughter as she watched the pair. Her disdainful laughter was heard by everyone.

Oriana turned and looked at her, she sharply frowned and fumed, "Azure, this Rhea colluded with the dragons again, a year ago she had been colluding with them that’s why she released those dragons then, but you let her off the hook of a death penalty. And now see what she’s done. This disgraceful girl released the forbidden powers for the enemies, she should be executed immediately as a punishment. Don’t let her off this time."

Rhea couldn’t help but laugh again, Oriana had said it like Azure had really cared about her wholeheartedly. He had no reason to let her off the hook again now that he probably knew that she was aware of his scheme with Alina. She didn’t know why he had been kind to her in the past, and why he was always there to save her, but now, she knew at first glance of his eyes that he wasn’t here to save her like before. She was his enemy now that she stood with the Dragons.

Rhea didn’t let any of that affect her, she stood confidently and spoke up, "I didn’t unseal any forbidden powers. Yes, I agree on releasing those Dragons a year ago, but I never colluded with them against the humans. But then again, I will admit about helping them this time. Correct, I am helping them because I think they are the ones in the right." She gazed unflinchingly at Azure, her eyes locked with his brown eyes, she then added,

"I don’t care if you believe me or not, I have said what I have to." Azure had become nothing to her the day she discovered his scheme with Alina, though she hadn’t hated him for anything, she didn’t want to have the reason to hate him now. All she wanted was to save her Dragon from that lava and get the hell out of here with him.

Rhea put her hands behind her back and started to secretly form some ice powers to protect her body before going after Draven. He was the only important person to her now, and she knew in her heart that he wasn’t dead, he couldn’t be. If she had to risk her life to bring him out, she would, even if it would caused her to suffer severe burns. He might not love her, but she did love him, and she wouldn’t let the person she loved die just like that.

"Azure! You..." Rhea yelled out his name planning to distract everyone from noticing her hidden hands. But then she hadn’t even gotten the chance to speak when Azure’s figure disappeared from his earlier spot.

Alarm bells rang in Rhea’s ears. If there was something she knew, it was that fire controller immortals have the ability to teleport to anywhere. And Azure was the master of teleportation.

Rhea immediately knew he hadn’t teleported out of the cave, thus she began to retreat backwards, but when she backed up a step, she bumped into someone’s solid chest. Rhea jolted and quickly tilted her head back, she was met with a pair of cold brown eyes that glared down at her.

She was shocked, she hurriedly took out her ankle dagger tucked away in her ankle belt, she planned to swiftly thrust it backwards at his stomach, but she wasn’t as fast as Azure, or in other words, he long ago already anticipated her next move.

When Rhea had bent to reach out for her dagger, Azure had already reached out his hand and grasped her elbow, it was a light grasp, like he was playing with a child. He held her elbow from behind with one hand, while his other hand swiftly struck the hand she used to hold her dagger.

Rhea immediately cried out as she felt her hand go numb all the way to her fingertips, she didn’t have the strength anymore on her hand to hold the dagger, thus it slipped and fell into the hot lava and melted with a sizzling sound.

That was right, she must be stupid to think she could fight against an immortal, someone who had lived for more than centuries, he was second to Alina in the human world when it came to powers and strength. Rhea knew she was just like an ant compared to his strength, and he could manhandle her the way he wanted. Any of her moves, he could anticipate it and defeat her even with his eyes closed.

However, there was one thing he was unaware of, he was unaware that she possessed ice powers. Draven had taught her how to deal with a powerful fire controller if by chance she was being held and couldn’t get free.

The memory of Draven’s training brought a small smile to her lips. Never in her life did she think she’d have to use this technique on Azure. Rhea quickly gathered her ice powers in her hand and, with a slight twist of her body, gripped Azure’s warm wrist. This was a stark contrast to Draven’s cold wrists that she had grown accustomed to. With one powerful strike, she infused his veins and muscles with a rush of ice.

Azure, who had been holding onto Rhea with just one hand, assumed she was simply attempting to break free. However, he was taken by surprise when she turned to face him and grasped his wrist, using ice powers to infiltrate his veins, muscles, and even his bones. The ice traveled deep into his bloodstream, causing his muscles to freeze.

Immediately, Azure felt his entire arm weaken under the influence of her powers. He promptly released his grip on Rhea.

Rhea quickly retreated away from him and hurried to the other side to put a lot of distance between them. She looked back at Azure, who was now gripping on to his arm. She smiled smugly at his disbelief filled expression. That was right, he wasn’t expecting her to also have ice powers.

Azure stared at Rhea in disbelief without uttering a word. Then he lowered his eyes and looked at his own arm, that felt like it wasn’t a part of his body. He used his other hand to wash out the ice stuck into his muscles with his flames. He raised his head again, there was intense coldness in his eyes, then his harsh tone,

"You changed your bones and turned to the Dragon race!" He wasn’t asking, he was certain.

Rhea couldn’t tell him that she hadn’t changed her bones, because if she told him that, there’d be questions on how she could use ice powers, then Draven’s core would come to light, and now that Azure was working with Alina, it would only be a matter of time before he’d cut her open and remove the core. Thus, she admitted to his accussation.

"Yes, I did. And it’s none of your business if I changed my race and bones!"

Azure’s face darkened dangerously, he looked at her with pure disgust. "You’ve really gone too far, young lady!" He rebuked harshly.

His harsh tone and darkened expression was something Rhea had never seen or heard before, as whenever he was with her, he was super protective and caring towards her.

"How have I gone too far?" Rhea questioned, "I was never welcomed by my own kind, they treated me like a curse, and my own father sent me to marry a man he’d never seen before. Tell me in what way have I gone too far, when all I did was join a race who welcomed me more than my own kind!"

The corner of Azure’s mouth thightened. He looked at the stubborn young girl in front of him. After everything he’d done to keep her safe, to keep her from harm. He had made a lot of sacrifices just for her. Ever since she was born, he’d been her hidden protector, just to keep her away from the evil that wanted her, but now she had turned on him by joining the very race that could cause her death.

"If I had known that you were the one chosen for that pointless marriage, I would have never allowed it and would have kept a closer eye on you," he uttered coldly. "You have become disrespectful and recklessly brave. You need to be disciplined!" With those words, Azure brought his palms together, causing his long, fiery sword to materialize before them.

Rhea barely had time to comprehend the meaning behind his words before she beheld the appearance of his huge sword. She was aware that his weapon had been used to eliminate the outcasts, and now that she had become one of them, she realized he intended to wield it against her as well.
