Bound To The Ice Dragon King -
Chapter 137: DRAVEN!!
Chapter 137: DRAVEN!!
Draven advanced after the lava had cooled, effortlessly leaping over the calm lake of molten rock. Rhea, wearing a frown, trailed behind him. When she followed suit and landed beside him, she was taken aback to discover that the area where the seal had been positioned was actually a small island amidst the expanse of lava.
It was there that the Dragonfang sword was firmly embedded in the ground. For how long the sword had been upholding the seal, remained unknown. Only after removing it could the seal be automatically broken.
Draven wrapped his hand around the handle of the sword. Though it was still glowing with hot flame, Draven didn’t hesitate to tighten his hold on it. The sword started to violently tremble like it was extremely repelled.
Despite the violent tremors, Draven remained unaffected. Rhea noticed smoke rising from his palm, accompanied by the stench of burning flesh, which caused her to grimace. However, Draven continued to hold the sword as if he was unaffected to the pain of his own burning flesh. His cold aura began to fill the atmosphere, making the air in the cave unbearably still.
Rhea watched as his ice powers enveloped the flames surrounding the sword. She noticed the veins on his muscular arms bulging as he exerted more strength to withdraw the sword. If it were an ordinary blade, she believed it would have snapped in two under the force he was using.
"Give me your blood," Draven stated through clenched teeth.
Without hesitation, Rhea retrieved her ankle dagger and pressed its sharp edge against a vein on her wrist. She did not flinch or make a sound as the blade sliced open the vein, releasing a rush of blood. The crimson liquid flowed down her wrist and dripped onto the ground.
In an instant, beams of white light emerged from the spot where the blood had landed. Similar to when they retrieved Draven’s essence in the cave, the blood seeped into the ground. Suddenly, a powerful gust of wind began to blow, it was so forceful that Rhea feared it would throw her off balance. The wind disheveled her carefully tied silver hair, causing it to cascade around her shoulders and dance in the breeze.
The sword absorbed all the dripping blood. The flame surrounding the sword completely extinguished. Draven’s powers grew stronger, and the sword that had been embedded there for many years, finally began to inch outwards.
Rhea withdrew her dagger and placed it aside, swiftly clasping her bleeding wrist while keeping her eyes fixed on the sword and Draven.
"It’s out of the ground!" she exclaimed joyfully as Draven successfully pulled out the sword.
Once the Dragonfang sword was pulled out of the ground, it looked like a plain ancient sword with no value. Draven turned the sword around to admire it, before causally discarding it to the other side.
They’d finally broken the seal, and the hot lava cooled down even more. Rhea looked down at the cooling lava, "Without the seal, the lava isn’t that hot anymore. In that case, I will also come along with you to get your dragon!" She beamed. After realizing how much Draven meant to her, she’d desired to see him in his Dragon form. She wanted to ride on his back and soar across the night sky. And now that the lava wasn’t as hot as before, she could easily use her powers to go in with him.
Draven looked at her smiling eyes, and he felt his heart soften at the sight of her excitement. Although, the dangerous situation had calmed down, he was no longer in a hurry to get his Dragon form. His attention was on Rhea, who was excited for him despite the fact that she was still bleeding.
Without any word, Draven swiftly tore a part of his shirt and grabbed her bleeding wrist, he tied the fabric around her slender wrist to stop the bleeding before it’d heal by itself later on.
Rhea simply watched as he gently held her wrist as if it were the most fragile thing in the world. His actions made her heart race.
Draven glanced at her face, noticing that her hair had come loose from the wind. Her flowing silver locks cascaded around her shoulders like a waterfall, with a few strands sticking to her forehead. Without thinking, he raised his hand and tucked them behind her ears.
"You’ve done your part, Rhea. Now wait here for me while I go and retrieve my Dragon, you don’t have to come along." he said in a tender and deep voice that made Rhea’s skin tingle and butterflies fluttered in her stomach.
Rhea suddenly felt wronged by his actions again. His tender actions were the exact of what a man would do for the woman he liked. Why was he still treating her this way when he’d already told her not to fall in love with him? She wondered why his kindness made her fall deeper in love instead of falling out. However, she kept her thoughts to herself without complaining.
How could she complain when she actually enjoyed being treated like this? How could she complain when she liked the feeling of his touch and how it made her feel like a woman? He was the first man to ever make her want to act like a Lady, he was the first man that made her heart go crazy just by his mere presence.
Rhea’s eyes slightly dropped as she also realized he would be her first love, and yet she’d never get to experience his love in return. She’d never get to know what it felt like to be loved by him. She’d have to kill the affection she was starting to have for him in order to live a peaceful life.
If a few months ago someone had told her that she’d ever love this man, she’d throw a punch at that person’s face and laugh it away. But here she was being pathetically in love...
Draven gently patted her head, and when she looked at him, he murmured,"Thank you for coming here with me, you..." Before he could finish speaking, he caught sight of the Dragonfang sword he had thrown away earlier. It glowed red and quickly flew towards Rhea.
Draven’s eyes narrowed as he saw the sword fly in the air in full speed. Without hesitation, he protectively positioned himself in front of her.
Rhea reacted slower compared to Draven and the speed of the sword. She only saw Draven blocking her view, and then suddenly the sword pierced through his chest, and she saw the tip protruding from his back.
Everything happened so quickly that Rhea was left in shock, her breathing stopped. Draven turned to look at her, blood streaming from his nose and mouth. Before she could recover from the shock and reach out to grab him, he lost balance falling backwards.
Rhea’s eyes widened as Draven fell straight into the lava, everything seemed to slow down with only her heart thumping rapidly in fright, his body made a popping sound as he disappeared completely into the lava pool.
"DRAVEN!!" She cried out, the force of those words damaged her voice to the point of hoarseness.
Rhea automatically reached her hand into the lava as if to pull him out, but right when her fingertips were about to enter, the once cooled down lava suddenly started to bubble with hot steam, that forcefully pushed her to quickly retreat backwards.
Rhea’s heart panickingly continued to beat faster as fear seeped into her mind and heart. Was Draven dead? No, he couldn’t be dead, he was just standing here a moment ago. He had been speaking to her just now, but the lava was already bubbling hot again...No, she had to look for him even if it meant digging into the lava!
She quickly got up, all her senses and mind were thrown into disarray, all she wanted was to know that Draven was alive. Nothing more. However, before she could even think of what to do, she suddenly heard screams and commotions outside the cave, it sounded like a huge fight was happening.
Before she knew what was happening, she saw countless fire controllers and human soldiers burst into the cave. Right in front of them was Oriana.
"Oh, look who is here again," Oriana coldly smiled, "So it turns out you came back here to break the seal!" She accused.
Rhea clenched her fists into a tight ball. She wasn’t in the right mind to fight when she wasn’t yet sure if Draven would survive such a stab and hot lava.
Before Rhea could speak, one of the soldiers pointed to the spot where the sword seal was supposed to be, but was now missing, "She has broken the seal and released the evil powers!"
"Shut the hell up!" Rhea angrily yelled at the man who just spoke, her face was darkened with rage. The look in her eyes made the man quickly retreat backwards. But Oriana shoved the man aside and stepped forward and said,
"You traitorous bitch! First you conspired with the enemies and now you want to ruin the entire world by helping them release the powers of chaos and disaster! You are helping the Dragons to gain forbidden powers!"
Rhea frowned, "I will say this once, I have not unsealed any forbidden powers. Don’t go throwing thrash at me!"
"A traitor speaking nothing but lies!" Oriana gritted her teeth, "Don’t think this time you’ll escape, I will make sure you face execution or die by my hands."
Oriana quickly caught everyone off guard when she summoned her flame sword, the very same weapon she had used to stab Gail on that fateful night. With a swift motion, she flung it towards Rhea, but Rhea had already anticipated the attack and managed to evade the sword by leaping away.
"You and your wicked aunt are the true villains here! You have the audacity to accuse me of unsealing something that Alina had already taken a century ago. She is nothing but a pure witch, and you, a fool, blindly following her like a lost dog. You are too naive to see the truth. But don’t worry, I will make sure to take care of your foolish mind!" Rhea angrily shouted, summoning her own ice sword.
Rhea wasn’t the same person she was at that inn, she wouldn’t be caught off guard and scarred in the face by this witch. At this moment, she wanted to get on with this and look for Draven. No more child’s play.
"How dare you speak ill of my aunt, you worthless person!" Oriana snapped, her forehead displaying angry veins.
The two swiftly engaged in a fierce battle, causing rocks from the walls and roof to tumble into the lava lake as they collided against the walls.
After the dust settled from their fight, the remaining fire controllers witnessed Rhea overpowering Oriana, pinning her to the ground and pressing her head onto the scorching surface, with the tip of her hair touching the burning lava.
Rhea was in no mood for games. She applied pressure to Oriana’s neck and remarked, "Does it feel hot down there? You have the audacity to speak poorly about others, don’t you?"
Oriana clenched her teeth, struggling to break free from Rhea’s grip. "You wretched seed! Don’t think you’ve won just because you’ve pinned me down. I will kill you, just like the sealed sword did to your so-called husband! Nobody will save you from me now. Your dragon protector is-"
Rhea cut her off, commanding, "Shut up! Draven is not dead."
Oriana laughed mockingly, "Then where is he? He won’t survive after being stabbed with that sword!" She continued to laugh in the face of Rhea’s fury.
"Then you will also die!" Rhea growled, summoning her sword again. Her eyes were filled with rage and despair as she placed the cold blade against Oriana’s neck. However, before she could strike, she was abruptly whisked away by a long flame force.
Thrown to the other side by the force, Rhea struggled to regain her composure. But before she could turn to see who had flung her away, the person spoke, and she immediately recognized the person’s voice even without turning around.
"You’ve gone too far, Rheanna," the familiar voice uttered.
Rhea’s eyes widened. All her muscles went numb, she froze in place.
