Chapter 85: Chapter 85: Caroline

Adriana: "..." Alex wouldn’t have been spanked even if he had joined us before!

However, on second thought, the picture of Alex being beaten by Adam was really funny.

Adriana held back her laughter and sighed.

In the end, Theodore stays behind while Adriana leaves.

Once Adriana was away, Theodore held Aurora’s hand and said earnestly,

"Little Aurora, wake up soon. I got selected for a famous production house movie! Beautiful Mermaid. I am playing a mermaid’s role!

Aurora, trapped in her unresponsive state, mentally choked.

Wait. What?

If she could move, she would have immediately sat up just to confirm what she had heard.

Theodore? In a movie? As a mermaid?

Theodore, unaware of his comatose sister’s silent distress, continued enthusiastically,

"I mean, technically, it’s a merman role, but you get the idea! They said I have the perfect face for an ethereal, otherworldly beauty—obviously, they have great taste."

Aurora: ...Did they check your brain, though?

He leaned in closer, lowering his voice as if sharing a secret.

"And guess what? The costume is amazing

—all shimmery and elegant. I have a whole tail and everything! But the only problem is..."

He dramatically paused, squeezing Aurora’s hand.

"They want me to swim."

Aurora: ...And?

Theodore sighed, slumping against the chair.

"Aurora, you know I can’t swim to save my life! Literally! If you were awake, you’d be laughing at me right now."

Aurora: I AM laughing. In my head. Very loudly.

"But!" Theodore straightened, determination gleaming in his eyes.

"I shall endure! For the art! For the role! For the mermaid aesthetics!"

Aurora: For the paycheck, you mean.

He pouted.

"Honestly, it would be great if you woke up before the premiere. Imagine how cool it would be for you to attend your brother’s big-screen debut! We could sit together in the front row, and you could compliment me nonstop—"

Aurora rolled her eyes internally.

What big role?

From what she knew, Theodore wouldn’t be famous until he was 22!

All the roles he has done before that are small and insignificant.

’But why do I feel as if... Theodore never should have received the role of merman...’ Aurora thought.

Soon, Lucas arrived, and Theodore left.

Lucas rubbed Aurora’s hair and asked in a voice only the two of them could hear,

"Aurora, I read the letter you have given me, but can I ask why you want me to stay away from all the women till you wake up?

Is it that you want to run a series of tests on my girlfriend before giving her approval?"

His tone was filled with teasing.

Aurora sighed. In reality, the person whose story was the most unbelievable to her was Lucas.

Her eldest brother was the type of person who respected women and girls. He would never date anyone just to mess with them.

But according to her dream, Lucas would mess with a female lead and eventually...

"I will not get involved with any girl or woman before you wake up. I swear." Lucas said solemnly.

Aurora heaved a sigh of relief internally.

Lucas chatted with her casually and suddenly thought of something,

"Oh right, Aurora, your middle school started. We have already informed the teacher about your condition. She and a few of the students will visit you." Lucas informed her.

Aurora felt her body turning cold.

Will they visit her?

Sh*t!

Though she was admired by many students, the problem was she still had many enemies too!

Not all students in her junior school were idiots; some were sharp and could easily find loopholes in her story...

There was also some fake friends who wanted to harm her.

Aurora wished she could wake up and ask her brother to prevent them from visiting her, but she couldn’t move at all.

"You must be bored, right? I heard from Olivia that you want to keep your studies on track. I will read some books for you."

With that, he started to teach her science.

Aurora listened with interest.

Even though she loved to fake her persona, she was able to remain in an elite junior high school purely because of her studious nature.

Nerd? Nope...she was more of a gifted person when it came to studies.

Lucas patiently flipped through the pages of the science textbook, his voice calm and steady as he explained various concepts.

Aurora, trapped in her unresponsive state, focused intently.

Though she couldn’t move, she could still learn. At least this was something productive.

But just as she was starting to enjoy the lesson, the door to her hospital room creaked open.

"Oh? Is this a bad time?" A familiar, saccharine voice echoed in the room.

Lucas looked up, his expression darkening slightly. Aurora, on the other hand, mentally groaned.

It was Caroline. One of her so-called ’friends’ from junior high.

"Caroline? What are you doing here?" Lucas asked politely but firmly, closing the book.

Caroline giggled, walking in gracefully, her eyes darting to Aurora’s unconscious form.

"Well, the school heard about Aurora’s condition, and since I’m one of her closest friends, I volunteered to come visit her first!"

Lies. Lies. Lies.

Aurora knew Caroline well. She was not here out of friendship. She was here to dig for weaknesses.

Lucas gave a small nod but didn’t move from his seat.

"I appreciate your concern, but Aurora needs rest. A large group will be coming soon, so perhaps it would be best to wait until then?"

Caroline pouted, feigning disappointment.

"Oh, but I just wanted to have a little moment with her! You know, girl talk."

Lucas’s gaze didn’t waver. "She can’t respond to you right now."

Caroline sighed dramatically, then stepped closer to Aurora’s bed.

She reached out as if to brush a strand of hair away from Aurora’s face, but her touch lingered a little too long.

Aurora felt a shiver of disgust.

"You’re so pretty, even when you’re sleeping. I wonder if you even know what’s happening around you?"

Caroline mused, her eyes glinting with something that didn’t quite match her sweet tone.

Aurora internally scowled. Of course I do, you snake.
