Chapter 58: Chapter 58: Unease

"Why? Because we don’t have money? Because we don’t have power? Theodore, I never you were such a scaredy cat!"

Theodore shook his head,

"Olivia we can’t ever win against them because they have money and power to support their patience. You had a feud with Rose 3 weeks ago. They took 3 weeks to plan an attack.

Even if we come up with proof, do you think we can escape? Nope. Maybe we can prove Dad’s innocence, then what?

What suddenly by ’accident’ mother burns the entire library? What if one day by mistake Adriana makes the coffee machine malfunction?

What if one day Lucas made a mistake cause the company, he is working for got their fund missing?

What if I one day accidentally knock off the camera and have to pay more than $1 million as compensation?"

Olivia’s face twisted in frustration.

"So what? We just let them win? Let them do whatever they want to us?"

Theodore’s eyes darkened, but his voice stayed calm.

"No. We don’t fight them head-on, Olivia. We fight smart."

Olivia crossed her arms. "And how do we do that?"

Theodore took a deep breath.

"Do you remember what Mrs. Lancaster did when you framed Rose?"

"She paid compensation..." Olivia answered. Then suddenly as if enlightened, she snapped her fingers, "Was silent for 3 weeks, to prepare a full proof plan and then attacked us."

"Correct. We will use her tactics on her. She had paid $10,000 as compensation, but now after framing Dad, she is asking for $50,000.

Maybe the moment she gave $10,000 she knew how she would get it back with interest. We just have to do the same thing." Theodore explained.

Olivia’s eyes lit up with understanding.

"So... we let them think they won, then hit them when they least expect it?"

Theodore nodded. "Exactly. But we have to be careful. They have more money, more power, and more patience than us. If we rush, we’ll lose."

Olivia frowned. "But what do we do first?"

Theodore smirked. "First, we pay them."

Olivia’s mouth fell open. "What?! Pay them?! Are you crazy?"

Theodore raised a hand to stop her.

"Listen. If we refuse, they’ll keep pushing us, maybe even hurt our family. But if we pay, they’ll let their guard down. They’ll think we’re weak and scared."

Olivia slowly nodded, still unsure. "And then?"

Theodore’s eyes gleamed.

"Then we find proof that Gray Winston framed Dad. We don’t need to fight the Lancasters directly. We just need to make their friend fall. Once he’s exposed, they’ll be in trouble too."

Olivia grinned. "I like it. But how do we find proof?"

Theodore tapped his chin.

"Let’s go home and discuss."

"Hm."

The driver silently pulled away from the meeting spot, and as the city lights flickered past the tinted windows, Mrs. Lancaster let out a satisfied sigh.

"Well, that went easier than I expected," she mused, crossing her legs and tapping her manicured nails on the armrest.

Rose giggled, flipping her hair over her shoulder.

"I told you, Mom. Olivia is all bark and no bite. She acts tough, but in the end, she’s just a scared little girl."

Mrs. Lancaster smirked and reached out, lightly tapping Rose’s cheek.

"You did well, sweetheart. But listen to me carefully." Her voice turned firm.

"This is how you handle scheming pests like Olivia. You don’t argue. You don’t fight. You crush them—slowly, completely—with power and patience."

Rose leaned in, eyes sparkling with excitement. "Like you did today?"

"Exactly," Mrs. Lancaster said, her tone proud.

"They thought they had a choice, but we controlled everything from the start. Their father’s debt, Theodore’s career, their mother’s job—every move they make is in our hands now."

Rose let out a satisfied sigh, resting her chin in her palm.

"It’s fun watching them squirm. Especially Theodore. Did you see his face? He looked so pale when you mentioned his family."

Mrs. Lancaster chuckled.

"That’s the power of wealth and status, darling. People like them think they can fight back, but in the end, money decides everything. With enough influence, even the truth doesn’t matter."

Rose smiled smugly.

"I bet Olivia is fuming right now, trying to think of a way to fight back. But what can she do? Nothing."

Mrs. Lancaster’s expression darkened slightly.

"Don’t underestimate her. A cornered rat will bite if it’s desperate enough." She tilted her head, looking at Rose seriously.

"That’s why you must always be one step ahead. If she tries anything, we strike first."

Rose nodded eagerly, then suddenly asked,

"Mom, are you truly going to let them go?"

"Hm? Yes. They are nothing more than pests. One that should be forgotten the moment you look away from them."

Rose pouted slightly.

"But Mom, what if they try something stupid? Theodore is smart, and Olivia is stubborn. What if they don’t give up?"

Mrs. Lancaster laughed softly, shaking her head. "Let them try. It will only make their fall even harder."

She leaned back against the seat, gazing out the window.

"We already own their future. Theodore will be forced to work under our influence, Olivia will be stuck cleaning up her family’s mess, and their parents—" she waved a hand dismissively, "—will have no choice but to obey."

Rose smirked. "I almost feel bad for them."

Mrs. Lancaster raised an eyebrow. "Almost?"

Rose giggled. "Okay, maybe not. Olivia has always been a thorn in my side. I like seeing her struggle."

Mrs. Lancaster smiled approvingly.

"Good. But remember, we don’t waste time on people who don’t matter. We let them sink on their own."

Rose nodded, but a small part of her still felt uneasy.

She glanced at her mother. Mrs. Lancaster looked so confident, so sure that everything was under her control.

Maybe Rose was just overthinking it.

The car finally stopped in front of their grand mansion, its golden lights glowing warmly in the night.

The butler opened the car door for them, bowing slightly.

"Welcome home, Madam. Miss Rose."

Mrs. Lancaster stepped out gracefully, her heels clicking against the marble steps.

"Prepare a bottle of wine," she ordered. "We’re celebrating tonight."
