Chapter 102: Plot
Chapter 102: Chapter 102: Plot
"I mean, I don’t want to make you spend too much on me."
Spencer glanced at her, his lips curling ever so slightly.
"It’s not about the money," he said coolly. "I just want to see how much you can eat."
Aurora: "..."
’This bastard is definitely holding a grudge!’
Suppressing the urge to stomp on his foot, she flipped her hair dramatically.
"Fine. But don’t regret it if I bankrupt you."
She strutted towards the entrance like a queen entering her palace, only to pause a second later when the doorman gave her a scrutinizing look.
Her outfit—while not exactly shabby—was nothing compared to the extravagant dresses and suits of the other guests.
"Miss," the doorman started, "may I inquire if you have a reservation?"
Aurora waited for Spencer to say the classic line of a male lead like ’She is with me’ or ’That is my woman.’
But all she got was Spencer’s amused expression as he bypassed her.
"Hey! Spencer! Tell him I am with you!"
Spencer chuckled and asked,
"As the doorman if he would believe me, if I said so."
Aurora: "..."
She was so angry that she wanted to reincarnate as a dog and bite him.
Spencer, seeing that Aurora was at her limits, wiped off his smile and said,
"She’s with me."
The doorman’s expression immediately changed, his back straightening as he stepped aside with a respectful bow.
"Of course, Young Master Berrycloth. Please, come in."
"So you still have some use," Aurora muttered.
Spencer arched an eyebrow but didn’t reply.
The restaurant was even more lavish inside.
A massive aquarium stretched across the entire back wall, filled with rare glowing fish that swam gracefully through the water.
Crystal chandeliers hung from the high ceilings, and a live orchestra played soft music in the background.
Aurora’s eyes sparkled.
’Forget everything else—this place is a dream!’
They were led to a private dining room with a full view of the city skyline.
Aurora plopped down on the plush velvet chair and grabbed the menu, her excitement growing.
But the moment she saw the prices, she almost choked.
"$10,000 for a steak? Are they stupid!" she hissed under her breath.
Spencer leaned back in his chair, sipping from a glass of water.
"Didn’t you just say you wanted to bankrupt me?"
Aurora’s eye twitched.
"I was joking! Who in their right mind would actually spend that much on a piece of meat? Is it made of dragon flesh?"
Spencer chuckled, resting his chin on his hand.
"Relax. Just order whatever you want. Money isn’t an issue."
Aurora narrowed her eyes at him suspiciously.
"You say that now, but what if I actually order the most expensive thing?"
Spencer smirked.
"Then I’d just enjoy watching you struggle to finish it."
Aurora: "..."
’This smug bastard is really out to get me today, huh?’
Gritting her teeth, she grabbed the menu again, determined to pick something extravagant just to spite him.
Her gaze landed on the "Imperial Feast" set, which included a five-course meal with appetizers, soup, a steak main course, dessert, and a rare imported wine.
Her lips curled into a grin.
"I’ll have the Imperial Feast set," she declared.
The waiter, standing patiently nearby, gave a polite nod and jotted down her order before turning to Spencer.
"And for you, sir?"
Spencer, without even looking at the menu, replied casually,
"I’ll have the children’s meal."
Aurora covered her mouth and laughed,
"Hey, Young Master Spencer, I didn’t know your appetite was so less. Even children nowadays don’t order children’s meal."
However, her mind was occupied by a completely different thought,
’His gym trainer must be keeping strict control on his diet. Just from the way his t-shirt is hugging his body, it is clear that he works out regularly.
Damn, even his arms look like they were sculpted by the gods. I wish I could get to see if he has any abs or not.’
She quickly shook off the distracting thought and coughed.
The waiter, who had managed to keep a straight face until now, nodded and left to place their order.
Aurora looked out at the scenery and asked,
"You must know me, right? Otherwise, you wouldn’t be treating me to a meal. Can you tell me about my life before amnesia?
My family...my friend circle, and why don’t I even have a phone with me? How did I even fall into a coma?"
Spencer saw Aurora’s serious expression and chuckled,
"You were a foolish person before. Your family? Your father, Mike, married your mother, and you were born.
Your mother had an incredibly high IQ and built a company. Alas, she lacked EQ and fell into the trap set by your father and died miserably.
Your father married his mistress, and they had a son whose age is the same as yours. So, you can imagine the truth of your father and your mother’s marriage.
As for your friends, you only have fake friends who take commands from your stepbrother. Your accident? It was one of your stepmother and stepbrother’s schemes.
If you were even a bit smart, you would have left the city, but as foolish as you are, you stayed here, craving your father and stepmother’s love."
Aurora took a deep breath. The original host truly had it rough.
Such a complex family...
"Then what about you? Who are you? Don’t tell me that my mother rescued your grandfather and you are fiance?" Aurora joked.
Spencer shook his head,
"No."
Aurora heaved a sigh of relief.
"Your mother and my mother were best friends, and they had arranged an engagement between us," Spencer explained.
Aurora: "..." Basic plot!
"Don’t tell me that I chased after you since childhood and clung to you," Aurora asked, her hands trembling.
No person would be blind enough to let go of such a heartthrob.
Spencer nodded,
"You did pester me..."
Aurora’s face turned slightly red.
"...not to chase but to break off the engagement," Spencer answered with absolute certainty.
