Born In Ashes: The Enigma
Chapter 58: Leaving

Chapter 58: Leaving

On the morning of July 1st....

The kitchen of the Throne Mansion was in full swing as the chef, Ashara Blazeheart, prepared breakfast.

Today’s afternoon marked the time when the entrance to Eonrift would open, and Azrael would be leaving right after breakfast.

Azrael, Silas, and Kael sat in the dining room, waiting for breakfast to be served. Around half an hour later, Ashara walked in, followed by several maids carrying numerous dishes.

Once they placed the food on the table, all the maids quietly left.

Azrael and the others enjoyed a peaceful breakfast, and no one brought up the topic of him going to the Slayers Academy. After the meal ended and the maids cleaned the table, Silas finally spoke.

"Have you packed your stuff? Your mom will be the one bringing you to Planet Arkanis, where the Slayers Academy is located."

Azrael nodded. "I prepared everything last night."

Silas nodded in approval and looked at Ashara. "I have already spoken to them. You just need to go there, and they will send both of you to Planet Arkanis using the cross-galaxy teleportation formation."

Ashara nodded calmly, though everyone could see that her mood was a little down.

Azrael and the others glanced at one another and smiled helplessly.

"Mom, aren’t you excited that we will be going out together?"

Ashara rolled her eyes at Azrael’s words. "I would have been happy if we weren’t going to the border."

She took a deep breath and finally spoke in a serious voice. "I am letting you go there because I trust that you won’t do anything reckless. But if I find out you are doing something dangerous, believe it or not, I will drag you back home and make sure you understand why people call me the Witch of Destruction."

Azrael wiped the cold sweat from his forehead at Ashara’s words and nodded meekly.

"I promise I won’t do anything reckless."

Ashara didn’t say anything else and stood up.

"Get ready. We will be leaving in fifteen minutes."

Azrael watched as Silas and Ashara left the dining room, then turned to Kael.

"Don’t neglect your training. When I come back next time, you’d better meet my standards, otherwise..." Azrael made a smacking motion with his hand and smiled sinisterly, like a villain.

Kael felt his butt ache just from watching that gesture and quickly nodded.

"I-I definitely won’t neglect my training!" He declared in a firm voice, then narrowed his eyes. "If I neglect my training, how will I take my revenge on that wit—beautiful lady?"

Kael was about to say the word witch, but the memory of the homing slipper that had hit him last time he said it made him immediately switch words.

He glanced nervously in the direction Ashara had gone, and when he saw no homing slipper flying his way, he sighed in relief.

Azrael was speechless at the sight. He found Kael’s motivation for becoming strong rather strange, but since it made him work hard, he chose not to say anything.

Kael’s talent was also quite good. Since the moment he started training with Lia, he had improved rapidly. Though he wasn’t as skilled as Azrael, he could still be called a genius in Genesis World.

Azrael was well aware of Kael’s talent, but he also knew that without hard work, talent meant nothing.

If he hadn’t spent the entire past year—since the moment he came to this world—focused solely on improving himself without neglecting his training, even with an Eternal Grade trait, he wouldn’t have reached his current level.

"I believe in you. I will talk to Lia and have her train you while I am away," Azrael said and stood up.

He left the dining room and found Lia standing just outside.

He smiled and walked over to her.

A few months ago, he had asked Ashara about Lia. Ashara hadn’t hidden anything and confirmed that Lia was indeed not just a simple maid, but someone with a powerful assassin-type class. Her main duty was to protect Azrael and Kael whenever Silas and Ashara were away.

According to Ashara, Lia is a Star-Level being and is quite strong.

Azrael had already suspected that she wasn’t an ordinary maid, but when Ashara told him that Lia was at the Star Level, he had been genuinely surprised.

Looking at her small and petite figure, no one would believe that this harmless-looking, lovely girl is actually a Star-Level being.

When Lia saw Azrael approaching, she bowed and spoke seriously.

"Young Lord, please take care of yourself when you go there."

She already knew that Azrael was headed to the Slayers Academy and how dangerous that place was.

Azrael smiled and nodded at her concern.

"Were you waiting here just to tell me this?"

Lia nodded, sighing inwardly. As someone who had been taking care of Azrael and Kael for years, she felt a little sad seeing him go.

Azrael shook his head slightly at her sorrowful expression and gave her a light hug.

"Thanks for everything you have taught me, Lia."

Other than Ashara, Silas, and Kael, the person Azrael was closest to in the Throne Mansion was undoubtedly Lia. She hadn’t only trained him, but had even taught him some of her personal techniques.

At this point, rather than a maid, he genuinely considered her a good friend.

Lia was stunned when Azrael suddenly hugged her, but she soon smiled and returned the hug.

"Young Lord, you have grown quite a bit."

Lia stood at about 170 centimeters tall. After all the training Azrael had undergone, he had grown to 180 centimeters, and she now only reached slightly above his shoulders.

Azrael didn’t respond to her words and let her go.

"Please take care of Kael while I am away."

Lia nodded seriously.

"I will."

Azrael smiled and looked at the home he was living for about a year. At that moment, the band on his wrist vibrated slightly, and he received a message from Ashara, telling him to come outside as it was time to leave.
