Chapter 965: Chapter 232: Mount Farce_2

Whether it was defeating the Seven-Colored Dragon or the visit from Saint Chiao, the momentum built invisibly was so significant that even if Sabak were all mute and deaf, the ordinary citizens of the Bimon Empire should have learned through various means about the birth of a heavenly king level Shaman in their kingdom, which brought great trouble to Archbishop under the doctrine of "The Path of Sovereignty."

With tears, they read through the history of Beamon; how many Orcs were not mere beasts? The heavy hardships of history and discrimination over a thousand years made the Beamon civilians, who had pride and resilience flowing in their veins, suddenly see Shaman Richard, who had defeated the highest power in the Aegean Continent, as a spiritual idol. According to Beamon tradition, any warrior who returned unscathed from a battle with a Giant Dragon could carve a dragon’s head onto their sleeve cuffs and family crest as a symbol, which speaks volumes about the special honor of defeating a Giant Dragon.

Following this, a huge headache for Archbishop ensued. Originally, the promotion ceremony for Northeast Temple’s Great Shaman Qi Dan was supposed to be held on the second day of the sacrificial festival, along with the promotion ceremony of the beautiful witch Cui Beixi to Great Diviner of Witherspoon Temple. However, the sudden visit of this master from Saint Chiao caught the temple hierarchy off guard, causing the ceremony to be delayed over and over, ultimately postponed by a whole week to deal with a series of entanglements.

The main reason that caused such great trouble for Archbishop was how to handle the promotion ceremony of one particular priest, who was Wind Whisperer Moer.

Being promoted wasn’t surprising, nor was jumping straight to the top; after all, Moer was the sole possessor of two ancient battle songs that had been lost for ten thousand years in the Bimon Kingdom. Mastering "Starbuck’s Tear Song" and "Storm Lion Horn Song" meant having the qualifications to be recognized as the "Cangqiong Prophet," which in the Bimon Kingdom, famously known as the Magic Wasteland, was a foregone conclusion, requiring no trial, with not even a single person to object — the Bimon Kingdom desperately needed magical power.

The most troublesome part for Archbishop Brut wasn’t just elevating Moer to the title of "Cangqiong Prophet." Historically, this position equaled the twelve chief priests in rank, conceiving the notion of being second to one, above ten thousand. The main duty of a "Cangqiong Prophet" was to accompany the army in battle. Of course, since "Cangqiong Prophets" were generally knowledgeable about the Skade tribe, they were also needed to perform divination and predictions on significant matters, though this role had been taken over by the Beamon Witch Doctors over time.

The complications arose in needing to accompany the army in battle, as "Cangqiong Prophets" could summon magical attack abilities through war songs. Such a priest was an ideal idol, having an all-powerful "Cangqiong Prophet" for protection, any Beamon soldier would wake from dream laughing. Such dual-attacking ability priests were the true pride of the Bimon Temple, yet this unique pride was now also the Summer Palace Saintess. How to arrange Moer, who held both the "Sacred Chamber Saintess" and "Cangqiong Prophet" divine titles, was something that nearly drove Archbishop Brut mad, due to the commanders of the five armies incessantly troubling him.

The Sacred Chamber Saintess must keep watch over the Sacred Fire that burned continuously within the Summer Palace, whereas the "Cangqiong Prophet" must serve as a priest accompanying the army. This was a contradiction that could not be reconciled, and the commanders of various armies seemed to be aware of this sticking point, stubbornly holding to the standards of the "Cangqiong Prophet," and persistently troubling the Archbishop, making Brut hesitant to allow Richard’s domain to expand towards the military, and thus he kept deferring responsibility.

But the trouble didn’t stop just there; a "Cangqiong Prophet" could fly, possessed magical attack abilities, and could summon magical pets, unequivocally the most elite Altar Sacrificial Priest of Beamon. Since the inception of this role in ancient times, the importance placed on "Cangqiong Prophets" had been different compared to the regular chief priests, firstly in secular reputation and secondly visible in their dress and equipment — the "Cangqiong Prophet" had the unique distinction of having a mount, a privilege not extended to any other Beamon priest.

Not just any beast could become the mount of a "Cangqiong Prophet." There were particular requirements. In the ancient era of the Bimon Empire, the "Cangqiong Prophet," during nights devoid of moonlight, would ride through the plains on a phantom giant wolf, the gems on their staff emitting light that could dispel any darkness.

The so-called phantom giant wolf was the main mode of transportation for the Prophet Shaman, not a magic pet, but a summoned undead creature from the Otherworld, brought forth by the "Nether River Rune Gem" on the shaman’s staff. As a summoned beast, its loyalty was unquestionable and it possessed a certain combat capability. Of course, transportation was its primary function. However, if the "Cangqiong Prophet" had a higher cultivation, it was also possible to summon a higher-tier terrifying magic wolf or some other advanced undead creature as a mount.

The real trouble lay here.

The current Bimon Kingdom was nothing like the vast and dominant Bimon Empire of Aegean ten thousand years ago. "Nether River Rune Gems" were now incredibly rare, and mining with the entire population of six million might not yield such a gem. As for the historic staff exclusive to the prophets, it had disappeared so long ago nobody knew of its whereabouts. How could one fabricate a similar staff for the newly appointed "Cangqiong Prophet"?

Out of necessity, the Pope resorted to a half-measure and forged a prophet’s staff, naturally without the "Nether River Rune Gem." Instead, it was embedded with a "Flame Gem" supposedly to honor the legendary "Cangqiong Prophet," who needed to illuminate the pitch-black land and sky while walking in the dark. Moer, the young "Cangqiong Prophet," could easily be deceived by this, but Helen knew better. She immediately protested at the temple, demanding the removal of the ride that a Cangqiong Prophet should rightfully have—the true mastermind behind this being a shakingly laughing Piegel.

Having a mount as a "Cangqiong Prophet" was a matter of protocol; not that Moer truly needed a mount. Liu Shocked had now learned a bit about how to hold office—never show weakness at any time. One must maintain authority and grandeur, for otherwise, it might signal to colleagues or political adversaries that one was weak and easily fooled.

"The temple doesn’t have any surplus grain! With a massive cost of warfare looming, the temple has reached its limits! Should we exhaust our resources to find a mount beast for Moer, or should we mine mountains in search of the ’Nether River Rune Gem’?" There was no way the Pope was going to search for a "Nether River Rune Gem" for Moer, and he immediately shook his head like a rattle drum,"The temple is not capable of that, I think since Lord Richard and Lady Moer can defeat a Dragon Knight, the task of finding this prophet’s mount should be left to you, Lord Richard."

The Pope’s dual tactic of suppression followed by flattery was truly cunning, living up to his reputation as the smoothest operator in all Bimon. However, when it came to being shameless, Brut ultimately wasn’t thorough enough, a stratagem that might have worked on the gracious Master Mourinho but was absolutely ineffective against Liu Shocked, whose character was deeply tainted by stubbornness.

The shameless Lord Piegel immediately caused a scene at the solemn elevation ceremony, asking Master Puskas of Saint Chiao whether he could borrow a giant dragon from the human Holy Vatican as Moer’s mount, later to be replaced with a Bimon giant beast. Master Puskas was left with no choice but to agree, but Liu Shocked grabbed the Master’s collar in the process, embarrassing Master Puskas severely and also causing the king to feel dishonored.
