Chapter 955: Chapter 226: Future Mage Corps of Feilengcui_2
"No way, this is a decision made by the entire collective of Dragon City, how can the two of us agree to your request." The Seven-Colored Dragon Ibrahim laughed, "Let me clue you in first, originally, Dragon City was prepared to deploy the Dragonfolk here to join the war if the conflict in the Donau Wasteland turned unfavorable. However, there is a condition: they primarily need to observe the trends of the war. Dragon City is reluctant to expose the Dragonfolk unless absolutely necessary, given that a group both skilled in instant high-level magic and combat would certainly raise suspicions under any commander from Beamon. Once word gets out, such a scandal could not be concealed."
"What’s disgraceful about that? What’s there to be ashamed of?" Liu Zhenhan snorted coldly.
This statement was quite in line with the identity Liu was currently masquerading as, making the couple from Dragon City exchange a smile and raise their eyebrows.
"With you here, things have become much easier for us. As long as you don’t reveal it, the secret of this batch of Dragonfolk will definitely be preserved," Fairy Dragon Luna stopped laughing and looked seriously at Liu Zhenhan. "Tell me, Richard, as a descendant of the Dragon Clan, can you give us a definite answer on behalf of the entire Dragon Clan?"
"Of course, I can absolutely guarantee that I’ll keep this secret," Liu Zhenhan struggled to suppress his wildly thumping heart and agreed in a heartbeat. The Dragonfolk were just another form of Sub-dragon, also capable of casting instant high-level magic. Given their high intelligence, they should be able to learn magic, even if they had to adhere to a step-by-step natural progression. Anyway, they should be no less than a high-level Mage, not to mention, they too had superb combat skills! Cheers!
"Don’t get too excited yet," Fairy Dragon Luna’s eyes, as faint as the Morning Star, stared intensely at Liu Zhenhan, making him feel uneasy all over.
"Dragonfolk and Sub-dragon Magical Beasts are different. One parent of the Dragonfolk is from the relatively frail Wisdom Race, not a Magical Beast. Because of this, don’t expect the Dragonfolk to have as good magical or physical resistance as the Sub-dragon Magical Beasts, nor expect them to cast as many instant high-level spells. In the eyes of the Dragon Clan, these Dragonfolk are still quite fragile," the Seven-Colored Dragon Ibrahim said earnestly, "Like you, I suspect that some extraordinary experiences might have aided you, and while you are also an alien Elf, don’t expect other Dragonfolk to be like you. You should treat them as Mages, and not as warriors."
"I will treat them as delicately as if they were in my mouth, afraid they might dissolve, holding them in my hands, fearing they might break," Liu Zhenhan immediately gave a Patton-style forehead salute. "How does that sound?"
"That’s all a real father would say," Ibrahim, the Seven-Colored Dragon, laughed.
"No need to exaggerate that much." Fairy Dragon Luna also laughed.
"Then, as soon as you get back, send them immediately to report at Fidelis City! How many are there in total? I need to arrange their accommodation and familiarize them with the geography." Liu Zhenhan licked his lips, his Adam’s apple moving rapidly up and down as he swallowed hard.
"What, what?" Fairy Dragon Luna looked at Liu Zhenhan flabbergasted, "Richard, did I hear you right? Thousands of Dragonfolk? Do you think the Dragon Clan breeds like Larza Beasts?"
"So, how many Dragonfolk do you have?" Liu Zhenhan rolled his eyes and raised a finger questioning, "Can you even muster one brigade?"
The Seven-Colored Dragon and Fairy Dragon shook their heads vigorously.
"How is the organization of the five squadrons?" Liu Zhenhan still held a sliver of hope.
The Seven-Colored Dragon and the Fairy Dragon still shook their heads.
"There are at least three hundred people, right?" Liu Zhenhan laughed bitterly, comforting himself that having three hundred mages wasn’t too bad.
"All the dragonfolk from the two great Dragon Cities add up to probably less than six hundred," said the Seven-Colored Dragon, Ibrahim. "Our Dragon Clan has undergone major reforms. The number committing those amorous debts is very few now. The dragonfolk nowadays are almost all descendants of those adopted by the Dragon Cities from ten thousand to three thousand years ago. Among them, there are about four hundred adults."
"Kids can cast instant magic too! And the elderly! As long as they can serve as mages, they’re fine," Liu Zhenhan arrogantly declared. "Give them all to me! I guarantee they’ll live a life of luxury!"
"Nonsense! Dragonfolk also live long lives. When I speak of adult dragonfolk, that includes some of the elderly you referred to. The maturation period for dragon children is very long, needing over a hundred years. Casting instant magic is purely a joke. The kind of magic young dragonfolk use might be good for tickling the enemy, so spare us the embarrassment," said the Seven-Colored Dragon, Ibrahim, shaking his head. "We can’t possibly hand over all our dragonfolk to you; we have to keep half to care for the young, elderly, and females, and we need some to maintain the daily chores in the Rainbow Dragon City and Morning Star Dragon City. Therefore, out of these four hundred adults, at most only one hundred and fifty can be allocated to you..."
"...don’t speak!" Ibrahim pointed at Liu Zhenhan, who was about to speak to bargain. "I’m already giving you fifty more people on account of you winning against me, on account of Puskas and your father, and on account of Daisy. Originally, the Dragon City collective consultation only allocated one hundred people."
"That’s damn too few..." Liu Zhenhan cried out in frustration. "What use are these one hundred and fifty dragonfolk! It should at least be three hundred! Or even two hundred fifty would do!"
"Two hundred fifty? I think you are one, thinking us fools?" Luna the Fairy Dragon laughed. "A human military superpower, scouring the entire country, wouldn’t have more than a hundred mages including magic apprentices. You suddenly got one hundred and fifty dragonfolk, what more do you want? Do you know, these dragonfolk are much better quality than human mages? Although their frequency of casting instant magic is not on par with that of Sub-dragon magical beasts, they can still cast two or three high-level spells instantly, which is much stronger than your average high-level mage, right?"
"That’s too lousy! I used to have a Komodo War Behemoth that could cast instant magic fifty or sixty times at once!" Liu Zhenhan desperately shook his head.
"Don’t compare a dual-element Komodo War Behemoth with dragonfolk!" the Seven-Colored Dragon, Ibrahim, was extremely annoyed. "If dragonfolk could cast fifty or sixty high-level spells instantly, they would have to be offspring of Giant Dragons and Giant Dragons, not dragons and physically frail Wisdom Race descendants!"
"Our dragonfolk have all studied magic. Although they can cast instant magic only a few times, most of them can reach the level of a mid-level mage, and a very few have even reached the level of a high-level mage. Overall, they are much higher quality than human mages." Luna the Fairy Dragon smiled at Liu Zhenhan.
"I thought they were all Magic Teachers," Liu Zhenhan said mockingly.
"Dragonfolk advance in magic very quickly, but they face huge bottlenecks. It is very difficult to go beyond the level of a mid-level mage. Those who become high-level mages are few and far between," sighed the Seven-Colored Dragon, Ibrahim. "Magic Teachers? Ha, if they became Magic Teachers, wouldn’t they be invincible even in front of a Giant Dragon? What would they still be called dragonfolk for?"
