Chapter 954: Chapter 226: The Future Mage Group of Emerald Green
"You wish!" the Dragon City couple were both annoyed and amused, "In the Battle of Heigar, the entire human race at its peak had only ten Dragon Knights. Now you want to gather that many by yourself. Aren’t you being ridiculously greedy? Besides, the rifts on the Kalimdo plains are the most complicated. Should the Demon Clan invade, that will be the main battlefield. The rifts in the Southern Cross Star Forest and the Bering Mountains are limited after all."
"But the main battlefield during the era of the Gods and Demons war was the Donau Wasteland!" Liu Shock argued slyly.
"That was due to a combination of circumstances that forced both sides to make their last stand there! It’s not like the Demon Clan came running straight to the Donau Wasteland," sighed the Seven-Colored Dragon Ibrahim, "Since the most important secret has been disclosed, I might as well reveal a major scandal to you. Do you know why our two great Dragon Cities, Morning Star and Rainbow, took the initiative to join the war this time?"
"To maintain the stability and prosperity of the entire continent," Liu Shock said righteously.
"That’s part of it," Ibrahim the Seven-Colored Dragon nodded solemnly.
"You really have no shame," Liu Shock scratched his arm, feeling goosebumps all over, even on his arm hair.
The Fairy Dragon Luna couldn’t help but burst into a giggle, her body shaking with laughter.
"Ten thousand years ago, there were four Dragon Graves. All the aged dragons would choose to wait for their life’s end in one of these four graveyards. Among them, the two largest were under the protection of Morning Star and Rainbow Dragon Cities. The other two, smaller graveyards at the northern end of the Aegean Continent, were plundered by the Demon Clan during their rampage across the continent, leaving more than two hundred Dragon Bones gone in a flash. This was an extraordinary disgrace to the whole Dragon Clan! But before our two Dragon Cities could exact revenge, those demons had already been driven back," Ibrahim the Seven-Colored Dragon said bitterly, "This time, we are prepared for revenge!"
"Wow!" Liu Shock was truly surprised. In the Dragon Graves, there always were resolute Dragon Wraiths who transformed into guardians of the graves, protecting the safety of the Dragon Graves. There were even more powerful entities like Zombie Dragons and the Liches guarding the whole graveyard. These undead dragons were not to be trifled with. What could the Demon Clan possibly want with those bone racks to go to such lengths?
"Your question is also our question. Although we have never seen the Demon Clan’s Medium Technique and Necromancy, luckily smart human Mages derived Undead Magic from these two Demonic Arcane arts. Over the years, we of the Dragon City believed that the Demon Clan might have used their proficient arcane magic to assemble some sort of war machine from the dragon corpses, just like they created the abomination warriors from dead bodies," Luna the Fairy Dragon saw right through this certain Richard.
"Abomination warriors?" Liu Shock frowned. This powerful close-quarters combat breed created by the Demon Clan was an utter mockery and desecration of sentient beings. Even old soldiers like Liu Shock felt disgusted every time they heard about it.
The abomination warriors were once the most calamitous Demon Clan troops to ravage the Aegean Continent. They were giant monsters exuding a nauseating plague stench and vile odor, with pus-filled bodies yet immense strength. Mindless and devoid of thought, they were intent on slaughter, favoring sickles and iron hooks to tear apart and devour their victims. Each body they consumed healed their wounds, making them the epitome of war machines. Other than Giants and Orephin warriors of similar stature, no one else could really match them.
"Let’s hope we are wrong. If that is the case, the consequences are unimaginable," said Ibrahim the Seven-Colored Dragon, rolling his eyes, "Now the Dragons of the Aegean Continent altogether might not even number two hundred. Some of them are hidden away in fortresses amidst the Hundred Thousand Mountains, unconcerned with the world. Only seventeen dragons have dealings with the two Dragon Cities. The others might not heed our calls."
"Ha!" Liu Shock whistled, "What a mess. Two hundred Dragon Bones assembled into two hundred mindless Bone Dragons driven only by war and slaughter. Gods above!"
"No need to be so pessimistic. If that really happens, I believe honorable Dragons will not stand by idly," Luna the Fairy Dragon replied weakly, as if trying to reassure others or herself.
Liu Shock could only offer a wry smile. Unconscious pure undead creatures were incredibly obnoxious; they were immune to psychic magic, and even the Gabriel Demon Butterfly’s "Demonic Dance" was no use against them. These were nothing like the Ring Spirits from the Death Lord Ring; although also undead creatures, they retained some consciousness and thought. The undead of the Aegean Continent were all naturally formed, retaining some semblance of previous life thoughts—nothing like the Demon Clan’s creations from mere skeletons.
"The Aegean Continent is vast, and I think other highly intelligent super-level Warcrests, such as Phoenixes and Unicorns, won’t just stand by either," Ibrahim the Seven-Colored Dragon was more optimistic.
"I thought the situation wasn’t too bad, but now after hearing you talk, I’m really worried," Liu Shock muttered, "Even if these Skeletal Dragons created by the Demon Clan aren’t as agile as real Giant Dragons, wouldn’t two against one be enough? We don’t need too many, just twenty or thirty Skeletal Dragons appearing on the Donau Wasteland, and the Bimon Kingdom would be finished. You can’t be too partial. Out of seventeen Giant Dragons, you can spare ten, but surely you can award me three to five to use as mounts, right?"
