Chapter 869: Chapter 197: Frog in the Well_2
If it wasn’t for the fact that the Multi-footed giant horses weren’t quite a match for the overly heavy bodies of the Antelope Warriors, the Antelope Warriors could absolutely have formed a Heavy Cavalry brigade. The Tauren Heavy Armored Cavalry, an extremely costly and powerful military unit, only consisted of five squadrons within the "Whip of the War God" legion, merely fifty more than the number of the Antelope Heavy Cavalry. In terms of quality, they were far inferior...........................-The reason Heavy Cavalry is so expensive is key to their equipment!
Since the Tauren Heavy Armored Cavalry belonged to the first elite legion of the Bimon Kingdom, the "Whip of the War God," although their equipment was passable, it was not on par with that of the Antelope Cavalry. Take the Warhorses’ Battle Armor for instance, the Tauren Heavy Cavalry used riveted leather armors, while the commissioned armor designs for the Antelope Heavy Cavalry were already drafted by Elven and Dwarf Blacksmiths, deciding on the historically used "Elven-style Chain Barding" by Elven Heavy Cavalry!
"Elven-style Chain Barding" in the Elven language refers to Unicorns, and this barding got its name for the 2.5-meter-long spiral horn mounted on the forehead armor, greatly resembling a Unicorn. The notable difference of the "Elven-style Chain Barding" from other Warhorses’ armors was that it came in a two-piece set, worn by two Elven Heavy Cavalry in tandem. When the horses were armored in such barding, the chains connecting the two-piece armor would create a chained connection between the horses........................-As is well known, Elves have slender bodies, and it is already challenging for them to wear half-body heavy armor; holding a heavy lance would be too much to ask. The clever Elven Blacksmiths designed this chain barding to exploit the charging ability of the linked mounts’ horns, while also freeing the Cavalry’s hands to use the Elves’ specialty, Archery.
The ingenuity and wisdom of Elven Blacksmiths was evident as it allowed physically weaker Elves to still form a powerful Heavy Armored Cavalry unit.
However, this type of Warhorse Battle Armor also had significant flaws; once used, it demanded high coordination and comprehension skills between the two riders, and without years of training and excellent innate understanding, it was difficult to form an effective fighting force. This Warhorse Battle Armor design considered the connection of double horses, with a special focus on balancing weight. Although it could also be separated for individual use, if a violent collision caused the horn to lose balance, the straightening of the chain connecting the two riders would become impossible, rendering the horn ineffective as a replacement for the lance.
Many Elven rangers who traveled across the Aegean Continent used this barding, but they weren’t focused on practical combat use, merely satisfying their own fantasies about Unicorns. Although the design concept of this armor was ingenious, the high requirements it placed on troop quality made it unnecessary for other physically stronger species. Under this awkward trend, the design intention was increasingly distorted as the Warhorse Battle Armor with offensive capabilities strayed onto a misguided path.
The fact that it didn’t work for others didn’t mean it wouldn’t work for the Antelope People. For Antelope Warriors who had mastered the "Iron Lock River Crossing Formation" since youth, this chain linkage saddle armor was practically tailor-made for them. Unlike the frail-bodied Elven Cavalry, the Antelope Warriors could also easily don heavy Gray Dwarf-crafted chainmail armor.
With the production capacity of two hundred Dwarf Blacksmiths, four Elven Blacksmiths, and twelve Tauren Blacksmiths of the Razor Mountain, and a little assistance from the Difeng Giants with their casting techniques, it would take roughly one and a half months to complete the entire set of Battle Armor and maintenance parts for the Antelope Heavy Cavalry.
Compared to the weight of the "Elven-style Chain Barding," it was about ten times heavier than the riveted leather armor equipped by the Tauren Heavy Cavalry. Dwarf-styled heavy armor was roughly double the weight of the Tauren Heavy Cavalry’s chainmail. Not to mention that the Minotaur were even larger in size compared to the Tauren, and the Antelope Warriors were more combat-skilled than the Tauren Warriors. The charging ability of the Elven barding’s horn had already solidly outperformed the Tauren Heavy Armored Cavalry of the "Whip of the War God."
Therefore, how could the boasting of this Tauren Knight and Prince Richard not be amusing?
"Do you want to experience my axe skills?" the Tauren Knight, Pipon, issued an angry growl, furiously swinging his double-bladed great axe. The laughter of these country bumpkins was filled with scorn, mockery, and irony, which even the most obtuse Tauren could detect.
"Challenging the patience of a warrior of the ’Whip of the War God’ legion signifies ignorance and stupidity in the Bimon Kingdom," Prince Richard remained as caustic as ever.
"As you say, Your Highness," Liu Zhenhan still couldn’t help but want to laugh, "Hehe, why don’t you have your Knight calm down a bit? I don’t think challenging the Aegean Militia represents anything significant."
"Yes, the Buer Tribe are all brethren. Why the need for such heated arguments?" Duncan was an honest and simple Tauren.
"Answer my previous question first—you haven’t told me which Buer Tribe you belong to," Prince Richard pressed Duncan.
"Respected Your Highness, I come from the Minotaurs of the Gold Coast Continent," Duncan, rolling his eyes, told Prince Richard the huge lie as instructed by his boss.
