Chapter 846: Chapter 190: The Secret of the Phoenix_2
Liu Zhenhan really liked the feeling of being superior and, with a couple of dry laughs, he headed up the stairs and went straight to Elder Andulan’s room. Despite the economic improvement of Elder Damai’s room hadn’t changed at all, still maintaining its usual simplicity. The hanging ferns that served as door curtains remained vibrant and full of life, and in the cave, a row of flower pots fashioned from bronze helmets from the era of the great wars between gods and demons were brimming with greenery.
Guoguo, the twin Blood Infants, and Katusha were all standing on the elder’s low table. In front of Katusha was a pile of nuts, and she was eating with a dissatisfied grunt, while Guoguo and the twin Blood Infants each had a big handful of dried dates, sitting there smiling from ear to ear and enjoying the delicious treats.
This old coot still favors boys over girls. Liu Zhenhan couldn’t help but criticize the elder’s partiality in his heart.
"Richard, grab me one of those black pearls you extorted from the Koutao Merfolk," said Elder Andulan without raising his head. He was fiddling with the wood charcoal under a brazier with an ancient-patterned bronze broken spear. A huge bronze helmet on top of the fire rack was bubbling with roots, bark, and a strong medicinal fragrance.
"What do you want that thing for?" Liu Zhenhan, pointing toward the two Fairy Dragons and Moer standing to the side, gestured for them to hurry off to underground metallurgy. He then took out a deerskin pouch from his pocket, poured out a round black pearl, and handed it to the elder.
"What do you know! All the herbs are quite bitter, and even the Ice Lotuses brought down from the snowy mountains by your Mammoth Strongmen, which smell sweet and refreshing, are all bitter and astringent to taste, aren’t they? Although this thing is somewhat effective for coughs, the kids have to be willing to drink it, right? After boiling the black pearl, it all turns to honey juice, which is perfect for neutralizing the bitterness of the medicine," Elder Andulan explained, tossing the black pearl into the helmet with a "plop," and rolled his eyes at Liu Zhenhan.
"What exactly is going on with Little Second and Little Third’s health?" asked Liu Zhenhan, taking out a cigar and putting it in his mouth. Ning Yu moved a chair over for him, Helen helped him with the flint, and lighted his cigar. Liu Zhenhan leaned back comfortably in the chair.
"It’s a long story," said Elder Andulan with an envious eye-roll at Lord Overlord and sighed, "These two kids shouldn’t have been able to survive. Their life functions and physical structures were only about halfway complete; they were still unfinished. To put it in terms of egg-laying creatures, they were lively eggs."
"But they are still alive!" said Helen.
"That’s because each of them took almost half of my Elemental Power, which is what made it possible," Liu Zhenhan grunted, taking a puff of his cigar, "Little Second and Little Third are indeed premature infants. They were born with very weak Elemental Fluctuations, on the verge of death, and then they were also chilled with ice."
"Our first half of life has been such a failure," Little Third mumbled with a chubby, pink head, in a tone that made everyone laugh.
"Your Elemental Power includes Dragon Power, Blood Magic Power, Cobweb Art, Shadow Assault, and Song Power. You were supposed to create great Blood Infants," Elder Andulan sighed, "But now it seems that the Dragon Power has all been used to compensate for their physical functions, and your various Elemental Powers haven’t mixed into a terrifying cocktail of Magic Power, but rather transformed into the foundation of their innate Magic Powers."
"Before feeding the Blood Infants, I was always confident. The Blood Feeding Method, passing down half of the Elemental Power, was almost a shortcut! My Elemental Power is much more complex than all the Blood Magic mages in this world combined, and if a Blood Infant was hatched with all my Elemental Powers combined, even if it were a high-ranking Magical Beast, it would be formidable. The Dragon Power is the only Elemental Power I inherited from the Dragon Son Ba, and these two kids should be inheriting at least half of my power; they shouldn’t have such a frail constitution. Leaving that issue aside, what I really want to know now is, why their Elemental Fluctuations are so powerful when they hold hands, yet they can only transform into Lovebirds, Connected Branches, and Twin Lotuses, and after transforming, all the Elemental Fluctuations disappear!" Liu Zhenhan said with a wry smile.
All eyes were on Little Third and Little Second’s faces, while the twin Blood Infants continued to feed each other dates, mindlessly enjoying themselves. Their minds were still those of infants; age and experience could never be inherited in any form. Liu Zhenhan was their father, and aside from that, the deep father-son bond ensured that the twin Blood Infants would never betray.
"It’s just as I expected," said Elder Andulan with a faint smile, not surprised in the slightest. Helen and Ning Yu were pursing their lips, trying not to laugh, while the two Fairy Dragons and Moer dawdled and refused to leave, also giggling secretly on the side.
"Oh?" Liu Zhenhan was puzzled, straightening up in his chair and looking around at them rolling their eyes, not understanding how the elder had guessed it, as he had never mentioned the origin of the two kids when he brought them back.
"I didn’t guess it; I deduced it. I know that you went to treat the Ice Phoenix’s illness, and in this world, there is only one kind of phoenix with three-type transformation abilities," said Elder Andulan as he affectionately patted Little Third’s head, who obediently put a dried date into old Damai’s gaping mouth.
