Chapter 845: Chapter 190: The Secret of the Phoenix
Although Liu Zhenhan had concocted an origin story for the twin Blood Infants to tell outsiders, he himself was completely bewildered.
The talents of the second and third young Blood Infants were indeed strange. In the whole Aegean Continent, the only creatures with such peculiar Transformation Abilities, apart from the Shadow Rose, the Spider Queen’s divine envoy whom the Drow Elves worshipped, were hard to come by.
Could Mourinho be a wax monster? An unbearable thought took hold of Liu Zhenhan’s mind, as the handsome image of the Swan High Priest slowly melted into a pile of shapeless wax in his imagination.
The more he thought about it, the more Liu Zhenhan laughed happily. There were far too many people in this world who envied the dashing appearance of the High Priest and harbored jealousy in their hearts, and of course, Mr. Liu was no exception.
However, the ridiculous idea that the Swan High Priest was a wax monster ultimately remained just a flight of fancy, promptly overruled by Liu Zhenhan himself. Disregarding the logical impossibility, the wax monster’s Transformation Ability, though versatile and whimsical, lasted only for a limited period and couldn’t be maintained in the same form year-round.
The words of the Andulan Elder were quite cryptic, as if he had made a big decision.
Liu Zhenhan knew that this old Damai was even older than himself, who had grown astute with age. The old Damai must know a bit about the magical abilities of the twin Blood Infants. Liu Zhenhan desired to understand more about the Elder’s past; he always felt the old man seemed to know a little about everything, especially adept at guessing people’s thoughts and was alarmingly knowledgeable.
With a belly full of bewildering thoughts, Liu Zhenhan intended to visit the Andulan Elder’s bedroom to find out the truth. When he arrived at the foot of Red Earth Highland, he happened upon Earl Garnett sitting on the ground, crying his eyes out. Garnett’s impeccably tailored clothes had been torn into shreds, his nose was broken by Gude’s punch, and his face was smeared with blood and mud, washed over by tears, resembling the abstract face of a Peking opera actor, particularly like one who had drunk too much.
Wolf and a large group of militiamen and members of the Vassal Clan were laughing heartily at the foolish-looking Earl. Bullying a noble of higher rank was indeed thrilling for these lowborn rustics.
"Start~" The little parrot cried out triumphantly from Wolf’s shoulder.
Seeing the Feilengcui Lord swing his arms and swagger over, Earl Garnett cried even harder, desperately dodging the Larza Beasts sniffing around him, while the Sharoman ogre priest Rovi was at his side, attempting to console his fellow tribesman. Unable to scold the Wolven Earl, he instead lashed out at Rovi: "You handicapped Wolf! Get the hell away from me! You lowborn! I am an Earl! My family has a history of one thousand two hundred years! You armless ogre cripple! When I get back, I am going to report to my uncle, and I will drive your disabled Wolf kind out of our Wolf Tribe! Let you beg for food forever!"
Rovi, obviously not thanked for his kindness, could only helplessly shrug at Liu Zhenhan.
Liu Zhenhan listened word for word to the Earl’s abuse of Rovi, nodding with a cold smile. He snapped his fingers and beckoned to an ogre slave named Karu who was standing by.
Karu, having been away from his master for a long time, hurried over excitedly, kissed the Overlord’s boots, and then stood respectfully at one side.
Seeing the Piegel Overlord whispering sneakily to the tall and robust ogre, Earl Garnett stopped crying and pricked up his ears.
Earl Garnett’s face turned pale at the thought—the Piegel Overlord had no respect for the nobility of the kingdom’s ancient families; could he be contemplating silencing him now?
No sooner did this dreadful thought occur than the ogre Karu rushed over, his face alight with excitement, grabbed the Earl by the hair, and dragged the wailing and pleading Wolven Earl into the slaves’ burrow. The Earl’s bruised and swollen bodyguards stared at each other, just barely moved their feet, and then a line of mammoth strongmen glaringly blocked their path, clouding much of the sky, leaving the servants no choice but to witness Garnett’s helpless, pitiful eyes disappear into the bowels of the slave dwellings.
"Get these bloodsucking scoundrels out of here," Liu Zhenhan told Rovi.
"My lord... this action..." Rovi’s face was filled with concern, his worried expression clearly written across his face.
"If he has the guts to tell of this experience, then I don’t care about the Noble Inspection Court’s censure," Liu Zhenhan chuckled at Rovi, and turning to address the Earl Garnett’s guards and retainers, he said, "Tell your master, if he doesn’t want his disgrace known all over the world, he’d better hold himself back. If you all want to continue this wild behavior, I assure you I’m ready to accompany you with drink, through word or force, whichever you choose."
A group of Earl Garnett’s retainers stared dumbfounded at Liu Zhenhan, possibly unsure of how to respond or perhaps intimidated by the brazenness of this young baron.
"Surely they wouldn’t dare to strip a title, would the Temple and the Taige Tribe agree? To strip the title of a Star Robe Priest and a hero with the highest medals? They must be dreaming," Liu Zhenhan laughed heartily, patting Rovi’s shoulder. "Whoever dares, I’m brave enough to make sure the one who replaces me feels hatred all his life due to a duel’s defeat on his very first day in office!"
