Chapter 835: Chapter 186 Twin Blood Infants_3
"In my name, I grant you rest." Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna covered herself, slowly stood up with the support of Mourinho, and shot a frosty breath from her slender fingers. It whirled atop the Phoenix Egg on the ground, gradually dropping petals of ice, slowly crystallizing into a translucent ice sculpture. The oval Phoenix Egg shone brilliantly within the transparent Ice Crystal.
"Child, you shall remain forever at the summit of the snow-capped mountain, let the ancient snow and ice inscribe my everlasting love for you." Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna’s voice trembled as she reached out her fingers, tenderly caressing that huge Ice Crystal, tears cascading down, her ice-and-snow beautiful face filled with exhaustion.
Liu Zhenhan was speechless, internally debating whether the Ice Phoenix’s miscarriage was imminent, or if there was a problem with his bezoar powder.
"An Gong Niu Huang!" Liu Zhenhan muttered to himself at the bottom of his heart, "If it’s not meant to secure the womb, why else would it be given such a name? Could it be that the bezoar of the Aegean Continent is different from ours?"
"Let’s go." Mourinho’s face suddenly aged a great deal, his gaze consistently avoiding the ice sculpture.
Liu Zhenhan glanced at them sidelong now and then, feeling increasingly guilty.
"The suffering Tang Beryljenna endured today is all because of you!" Lord Mourinho glared fiercely at Liu Zhenhan, his eyes like those of a venomous snake, a hateful snake.
"It’s not his fault," said Ice Phoenix Tang Beryljenna with immense bitterness, "This is Xiagui’s anger, this is fate."
Liu Zhenhan was seething with anger at Mourinho’s reproach, but he still held back.
The Ice Phoenix woman stumbled to the front of the ice sculpture, opened her trembling arms as if embracing the world, and hugged the coldness, constantly kissing it, tears dropping and turning into ice.
Mourinho’s throat emitted a howl similar to a wild beast’s, like a lonely snow wolf on a mountaintop facing a hurricane, letting out a reluctant accusation.
A palpable agony infected Liu Zhenhan, and though unsure whether it was truly his fault, at this moment, he really felt a bit of guilt, and that heart-wrenching feeling spread ever wider.
"It was definitely An Gong Niu Huang... How could I have got it wrong..." Liu Zhenhan repeated this to himself in a murmur.
What if it was his fault?
Liu Zhenhan’s heart trembled, icy-cold, suffocating.
Life was full of too much dark humor. Not so long ago, he had been scheming to obtain this Phoenix Egg... If only he had known earlier that the Ice Phoenix could take human form, Liu Zhenhan would never have done this, for in his heart, a Magical Beast in human form was an entirely different concept from one in beast form.
Bouts of desolate wind swept through the mountain cave, howling and lifting remnants of frost and snow, battering the dazed Liu Zhenhan.
Mourinho, the Ice Phoenix woman, and the Moon Elf priest had left without him noticing, leaving only Liu Zhenhan gazing at that column of Ice Crystal, within its reflective layers, a pair of absent eyes mirrored.
A white Phoenix Egg, with beautiful lines, once alive with vivid life.
With a loud "bang," frost and snow burst through the mountain cave.
Liu Zhenhan smashed the column of Ice Crystal with his Mithril arm, the oval Phoenix Egg smiling gently at him, a nearly imperceptible Elemental Fluctuation rippling around it.
A drop of scalding, thick blood fell, "plop," spreading into a bright red plum blossom, mingling with the blood strands on the Phoenix Egg.
"You say it can’t be hatched? I’ll give it a damn try! That’s a life, goddammit!" Liu Zhenhan gritted his teeth as he squeezed dripping droplets of blood from his fingertip, beginning to chant a complex and obscure Elves’ magic incantation.
The blood, like a spirit snake in motion, gathered with the bloody threads on the surface of the eggshell, forming one magical symbol and ancient hexagram formation patterns on the surface of the Phoenix Egg, as tremendous, surging Elemental Mana burst forth from every drop of blood squeezed from Liu’s middle finger, erupting in a captivating crimson halo.
The Phoenix Egg, like a greedy abyss, devoured one magic halo after another, the rainbow-like red flames turning the entire egg subtly into the color of a ruby, as countless fragments of ice shattered from it, as if held up by an invisible hand, the Phoenix Egg silently levitated into the air, its heartbeat growing from barely audible "thump-thumps" to louder and louder thuds.
Within the nearly translucent Phoenix Egg, countless magical rainbows writhed wildly.
Liu did not know how long in history it had taken for a Blood Magic Saint Chiao to hatch a dormant egg; he only knew that blood feeding was extremely draining, as his body’s Magic Power and blood were being siphoned away at the rate of a dam bursting.
Without warning, the eggshell shattered, bursting into a spreading mist of blood.
Liu was thrown backward and slammed heavily against the mountain wall.
Liu jumped up from the ground, still shaken; he had not expected that a Blood Infant, which high-ranking mages required a year of blood feeding, was but a mere instant for Saint Chiao. The Mana drawn by this Phoenix Egg far exceeded his limited magical knowledge, and the excessive blood drain had almost turned him into a mummified corpse. The treacherous nature of Blood Magic had brought Liu to the brink of death.
The blood mist dispersed, and Liu, propping himself against the mountain wall, nearly fainted away.
A platinum Frost Snow Pichu Beast stood on the ground, plump and cute, standing half a meter tall, several sizes bigger than Guoguo.
There was also a child standing on the ground, bare-buttocked and about the same height as the Frost Snow Pichu Beast.
But the child’s face bore an uncanny resemblance to Lord Mourinho, with rare platinum hair. Though still young, the handsomeness of his face was already undeniable.
A white wing grew from the Frost Snow Pichu Beast’s left flank.
A white wing grew from the child’s right flank.
"Daddy!" the Frost Snow Pichu Beast cooed.
"Daddy!" the child echoed.
Both reached out their chubby little arms toward Old Liu and wobbled over to him.
Old Liu let out a deep sigh, bent down, and embraced the two Blood Infants, who "giggled" and affectionately nuzzled his face.
By rights, Blood Infants should resemble him exactly, yet these twin Blood Infants not only looked nothing like him, but they were also clearly a pair of disabled creatures, each missing a wing. What was particularly galling was that one of them even resembled Mourinho.
Liu truly did not know what kind of sensation it would cause to bring a talking Frost Snow Pichu Beast and a mini Mourinho back to Emerald.
"Our former halves of lives have been too unfortunate," the Frost Snow Pichu Beast pressed close against Liu’s face and said.
