Chapter 646: Chapter 136: Endless Sneaky Moves_5

Criks of pain rose from the ground, but they weren’t from the Antelope Warriors, nor from the militias of Flame Mountain Valley. They were the Gray Dwarves, invisible under their racial ability, who have caused the most damage in previous battles against the Bemons and Giants of Flame Mountain Valley. When the battle line became congested, the invisibility technique of the Gray Dwarves lost its significance, as there was still a cool-down period.

The Dark Elves had a simple method to deal with the Gray Dwarves under Moore’s Blood Elves. The Drow could emit a non-lethal "Bone Phosphorous Flame", a phosphorus flame with extreme adhesive power that could stick to the bodies of the Gray Dwarves. Even if the Gray Dwarves became invisible, they could not escape.

Liu Zhenhan only had one Drow Elf at his disposal, and he couldn’t make a single Dark Elf reveal all the Gray Dwarves. Thus, he resorted to another method, the simplest one.

Many fern plants and mosses grow in the valley, similar to the grasslands underground. Thousands of hexagonal iron caltrops, built by the Difeng Giants under Liu Zhenhan’s orders were hidden beneath this lush vegetation. As the Difeng Giants had sprinkled a lot of chalk powder, these iron caltrops were deeply hidden.

Difeng Giants excel in forging, though their method is unlike any other racing’s iron-making technology. As their numbers are small and they have to supply a large number of farming tools for the Cave Dwellers, they have been using clay mold casting for centuries. More refined methods include controlling the mold and then conducting a secondary cold steel tempering; if not, they could use it directly from the mold.

The batch of hexagonal iron caltrops was quite crude due to a rush of work, but their damage was significantly more brutal than their exterior would suggest. The iron caltrops, scattered fifty yards ahead of the frontline Tauren warriors, inflicted severe injuries on the rushing Gray Dwarves.

Although the Dwarves had excellent armor, their boots bottoms were obviously not reinforced for such matters. Seeing the impending combat, each Gray Dwarf was excited, but suddenly an unbearable piercing pain came from the soles of their feet. The hexagonal iron caltrops, designed by Overlord Piegel, were multi-cut devil weapons. Even if a bear stepped on them, the soles would definitely get pierced. Perhaps only races like the Beamon Houss and Buer tribes which have thick hooves would not suffer this misfortune. Others, like the Gray Dwarves, couldn’t avoid it.

Even the insensible Gray Dwarves were startled by this sudden attack, turning their pent-up charge into cries of pain. Their cries weren’t just from the pain, but also because the damned iron caltrops soaked in toxic potions made by Witch Doctor Nochadamas caused poisoning. The Witch Doctor’s dream to become a prophecy master was fading, yet on the flip side, his experience concocting poisons was surging. This could be seen from the blurry green figures of the poisoned Gray Dwarf Soldiers. Invisibility couldn’t hide these symptoms. They resembled the Soul Wanderers or even the zombies, which was ironically true because the Gray Dwarves quickly dropped dead from the poison, indeed becoming real undeads.

With their assault formation disrupted, the Gray Dwarves had to slow down. Those who had failed to stop in time continued to trip and fall. The experienced Dwarf warriors hastily changed their running styles and alerted the ones behind. The iron caltrops kicked around by them indicated that the Gray Dwarves were now moving forward by stomping, a slower but safer method.

Liu Zhenhan noticed Xiao Cui smirking at him, implying that Moore’s followers had figured out counter-strategies against the tricks of the cunning Dark Elves.

"The big show is about to start," Liu Zhenhan laughed in spite of the setbacks.

The Gray Dwarves were indeed unlucky, as they never thought there would be several mages on the enemy side, especially a Fire Elemental mage.

Although Master Otigha didn’t have any magic equipment to see through invisibility, the chalk powder on the ground guided him. Two months ago, during the Feld Cui’s large-scale equipment upgrade, Ruona used some quality Magic Crystals and a Fire Crystal Feather to equip Master Otigha with ten Fire Elemental Magic Amplifying rings. This has significantly elevated Master Otigha’s power to surpass that of High-Level Mages. Thanks to the amplifying rings, his apprentice Mexi also skipped the level of apprentice mage. As for Naga and Sirens, they weren’t left behind either.
