The process of pursuing the bandits was going very smoothly. After spending more than two hours, on the edge of a Stone Bamboo Forest, Richard finally caught up with these abducted Subterranean Natives.

The geographical environment here was quite good. The stone bamboos were as tall as five or six people. Pulsing red light glowed from within them, as if they were hollow and contained underground fires that vented into the enclosed space. This red light provided a certain level of illumination for the surrounding area.

Soft volcanic ash meant the multi-footed giant horse could gallop with very little noise. Combined with the surrounding darkness, Richard and his team weren’t discovered until they had come within two hundred yards.

There was no need for them to attack, as two groups had already started fighting among themselves.

The Subterranean Natives, all of them small and covered in long hair, were huddled together nervously, elderly and young alike. Their hands tied together with ropes. Not far from them, a large group was enthusiastically fighting on every front.

Thirty humanoid creatures with black wings growing from their backs surrounded a Dark Elf with dark skin. The intermittent red light in the stone bamboo grove bathed the fighting scene, giving a clear view to Richard.

"Goliath Harpies? Dark Elves?" Daisy whispered in a subdued voice.

"Shh~" Richard pressed his finger to his lips, signaling silence.

With his finger on the hilt of his longsword, Fat Luo was ready to draw his Wind Chasing Blade the moment he got the signal from his boss. Rodman was prepared to execute his ’Gale Step’ to rush forward and knock down that Dark Elf.

"Interesting." General Pan took down his tri-edged Demon Hunter Spear from his back, chewing slowly on a piece of bamboo.

Helen and the two Scepter Shamans were a bit panicked. They weren’t simple-minded mammoths. The flying harpies had two large pouches on their hips, filled with one-meter-long throwing spears. Richard had determined from examining the Subterranean Natives’ corpses that the lethal weapon was a sharp object like a spear, with wounds that were pierced in at an angle, which was consistent with the fighting style of throwing spears from the air.

However, the sudden appearance of a Dark Elf was even more surprising. The Dark Elves were known as the most evil creatures on the Aegean Continent, the arch-villains among the fallen Elves. Any word related to the dark side, squared, would not be an overstatement to describe them. What was this all about? Helen and the two Scepter Shamans pondered over this intensely.

The Dark Elf, who was fiercely fighting with the Harpies, was a rare male, very handsome. The firm line of his jaw revealed his character. He had two vine tattoos on his cheeks made of white chalk, and a circle of faint red down by his lips added a vigorous vitality to his boyish features.

He was wearing a black leather armor, wielding a long and a short golden curved blade. Leveraging his agile movements and the black mist emanating from his body, he was able to dodge the short spears thrown by the humanoid beings with black wings. In between the sparks generated by the blade striking the spear tips, he would occasionally shoot feathered arrows in retaliation.

This Dark Elf’s archery technique was quite peculiar. He didn’t carry an ordinary Elven short bow. Instead, a strap was tied around his left wrist, with the other end attached to a metal hook under his left arm. Similar straps were tied around both his knees, but these didn’t hinder his movements. His actions and postures remained smooth and rapid. His method of shooting arrows seemed unbelievable. Amidst his evasive maneuvers, he elegantly drew curved, serpentine short arrows from the quiver on his back. Using arm-bending and hip-rolling movements, he slotted the serpentine arrows onto the arm string and leg string and shot them at the Harpies in the air. He shot like a strong crossbow.

There were over twenty fallen Harpy corpses scattered on the ground, each still holding onto a round shield. However, they were all shot in vital areas like the forehead or throat. The curved, serpentine arrow shafts twisted and tore the wounds further, causing crimson blood to flow freely and paint the volcanic ash on the ground red.

"This archery technique is called ’Cup-Bow Serpent-Shadow Archery’. It’s said to be a unique, advanced archery technique solely practiced by the Dark Elf Clan. I had only heard our instructor mention it casually before." Nedved, the Centaur Archer, was touching his quiver naturally with both hands, his agile fingers tapping lightly, admiration in his eyes. "This archery technique uses the body as a bow. The bowstring when removed should perfectly fill a wine cup. It may seem simple but requires great skill. Without proper guidance, it’s impossible to master. It’s said to be a legendary technique that frees the archer’s hands. I’m fortunate to witness it."

"Just having a bowstring tied to the arm and knee, coordinating both is already hard to achieve. This Dark Elf’s footwork seems quite good," Richard nodded in agreement.

"Should we save these Goliaths first?" Helen whispered. She saw that although the harpies threw a wave of spears, they couldn’t harm the Dark Elf at all. On the contrary, the Dark Elf took down two more of them with one arrow each. If not for the agile movements of the Harpies and their protective shields, the number might have been even greater.
