Chapter 371: Chapter 80 - Frustrations Everywhere_4
Not only was Avril in no way at a disadvantage, but she occasionally relied on the superiority of her spellcasting speed, pounding the two masters’ magic shields with water arrows until the shields trembled.
The more Avril fought, the more excited she became, while the masters’ faces grew paler and paler as the fight wore on.
Mermaids are naturally skilled in manipulating the Water Element, and their casting speed is much quicker than that of ordinary human mages, which the masters could accept and understand. What the masters couldn’t comprehend, however, was why this mermaid was becoming fiercer in battle? When casting spells, there was no gap or pause, was her magic power that strong?
Initially, the two masters were slightly smug. As seasoned practitioners, they estimated the power of the water arrows and deduced the mermaid to be an average wizard at most. How much magic can a mid-level mage have? Although the magic apprentices were not much of help, they were at least wasting her magic power. How long could she last?
Ironically, this mermaid, who was a mid-level mage at best, was causing havoc among a high-level space magician, a mid-level Fire magic mage, and three magic apprentices. They were worn out from running around. Had it not been for their magic shields blocking the excess water arrows, the two masters would have died many times over.
The magic confrontation was a dazzling display for onlookers, but the two mages found it bit eerie. Midway through the fight, both mages had already downed a precious potion of blood marrow each and the three magic apprentices had exhausted their magic, yet the mermaid’s water arrows were just as swift and dense as they were at the beginning.
The Fairy Dragon was equally bewildered while watching from the sidelines.
As seasoned professionals, the two masters immediately adjusted their strategy after downing the second potion of blood marrow. Master Fran used "Black Hole Barrier" and "Dimensional Slash" to resist Avril’s water arrows, while Master Otigha summoned an intermediate-level Fire Magic "Rocket Volley" using a Magic Scroll. This was a sneak attack aimed at the mermaid who didn’t even have a magic shield.
But to their disappointment, this "Rocket Volley" was firstly nullified by one-third by Avril’s water arrows, and then the remaining rockets were blocked by a Water Element Piegel that suddenly appeared. Avril even took advantage of the moment when Fran’s "Black Hole Barrier" was dispersed and not yet re-summoned to launch a critical water arrow that hit an unfortunate magic apprentice. It’s worth mentioning that the positions of the three magic apprentices were deliberately placed at the forefront by the masters in the name of affording them a closer view for learning the essence of magic.
The two masters were stuck in a difficult position. They only had one bottle of "Blood marrow" left. Both "Weightlessness Technique" and Magic shields had been supplemented twice. Yet, this mermaid was still releasing magic water arrows as if she were a magic power storehouse.
Moreover, while fiercely shooting water arrows, this little girl would occasionally shout, "Kampas!" quaintly.
The two masters, finding a loophole, took the opportunity and crept in immediately.
"How embarrassing!" Master Otiga wanted to cry.
As for the two enchanting shamans, having no restraints from the mages, they were making the soldiers of the "Metal Rose" mercenaries miserable using their war songs and magical beasts, leaving corpses scattered all around.
The Komodo War Behemoth was the top killer, its "Corrosive Acid" and "Net Lightning" reaped lives like autumn leaves, making the Beamon soldiers seem somewhat unnecessary.
Seeing that the battle was clearly lost and the eyes of the two super magical beasts were starting to turn towards them, the two masters immediately and unanimously chose to retreat.
Fortunately, the "Weightlessness Technique" allowed them to walk on water. The two masters and the apprentices scuffed their feet on the ice floating on the river surface, retreating while fighting, and returned to the south bank looking utterly disheveled.
Fairy Dragon Daisy stared blankly at Avril, simply unable to believe what she was seeing.
The mercenaries of "Metal Rose" were now drops down to having only their Captain, Jennifer, struggling to keep the fight alive. Not because this woman had superior martial arts skills, but because everyone was holding back, especially the two super magical pets, the Komodo War Behemoth and the velociraptor, which had not been ruthless at all.
A Hobbit halfling chef was single-handedly battling the female Captain of the "Metal Rose" mercenary group, brandishing a large kitchen knife. Any irrelevant spectators had long since cleared out, leaving only corpses.
The pudgy hobbit chef, barefoot, with a loaf of bread in his mouth and a cigar stub clipped to his ear, hopped and bounced around. He was enveloped in layer upon layer of brilliant auras: "Stone Skin", "Blessing", "Agility", and "Misha’s Song of Strength"-----------the song of "Endurance and Persistence," plus a completely pointless "Symphony of the Heavenly Calamity Bone Bell." This battle song was a Song of Poison Resistance. It was essentially a move inspired by a certain boss lady’s bold equipment and a sudden childish whim.
Adding to the scene, to the side, an old turtle named Damai, with a handful of beard, using his top-tier "Prayer of Comforting Technique," honed from his four to five thousand years of practice, was relentlessly casting his spell on the bouncing halfling chef.
Jennifer, with her purple Dou Qi surging around, was enveloped in layers of sinister shadow auras: "Slow", "Strength Drain", "Weakness" and "Catherine’s Lullaby"------------which was the "Dizziness Song." Aside from this, a certain sly and slippery Scepter Shaman generously bestowed upon Jennifer the "Song of Forest Murmurs." This damned "Stone Skin Battle Song," although a brilliant aura, made the female Captain’s body, already slowed down by the "Ginger Patience Song," even heavier and more sluggish.
The female captain’s Dou Qi originally had a vermillion color, but it was tainted by these sinister auras, hence turning into a purple Dou Qi.
Even though Dou Qi has a certain resistance against sinister auras, it couldn’t stand up to the overlapping effect of so many different sinister auras. Captain Jennifer was now completely worn out, her Stone Skin flying off as she was slashed by the halfling chef’s kitchen knife, her clothes torn and ragged.
A sight to behold.
If this hobbit were to return to his homeland in the Bering Mountains, just this battle where he defeated a high-class human warrior with a kitchen knife would be enough for half the hobbit chefs in the kingdom to consider learning martial arts.
The only thing keeping Captain Jennifer from committing suicide now was the knowledge that there was a Space Magician on the opposite shore who could help her teleport back.
Regrettably, the two masters probably cannot help her anymore.
Having barely escaped from Beamon’s mouth, they fell right into the Wolf’s den, as the old Mongolian proverb goes: "Escaped from the mouth of Taige, trapped in the den of Wolf."

A bit late, it always happens, once I start writing, I can’t stop. No matter what, I’m going to write another Chapter today, even if I have to write until three in the morning.
I’d like to recommend a book: my good friend Danmo Qingshan’s new work in the alternate history genre, "The Tang Wind." Please support it.
