Chapter 300: Chapter 59: Venturing into the Dragon’s Den_4
As for the one who entered Berserk mode, but was still able to engage in lively conversation, it was an unheard-of and unprecedented sight.
The Giant Bear’s heavy armor was a bit too long, and Liu Zhenhan tore off the redundant parts, the tendons used as ropes in his hand were as fragile as reed roots.
Wearing three layers of heavy armor, Liu Zhenhan tucked Guoguo into his arms, took one of Gude’s Demon Hunter Spears, with the Wolf Fang Club in his left hand and spear in his right, he charged up the inclined path. Despite his heavy gear, he didn’t appear to struggle; from afar, he looked like a hunting cheetah.
About two-thirds of the way up the 250-yard path, the gates at the top of the hill suddenly opened. Huge logs were stacked like a mountain, firmly tied together with vines, neatly placed behind the gate. In front of the pile of logs was the downward-sloping hill.
A Gnome officer wielding a claymore swung the glistening sword in a semi-circular path, fiercely slicing the vines holding the logs. With a thunderous sound, the logs tumbled down the steep hillslope, rolling like a mercury spill. Amidst the rumblings, the accumulated snow on the slope churned up waves of splashes, the hazy snowflakes falling from the sky were blown into a seemingly aimless mist by the icy wind.
About a hundred logs jammed the not-so-wide path. Liu Zhenhan stood in the midst of them, impaling his Demon Hunter Spear deeply into the ground, leaving only a short handle. He gripped the iron stake tightly, allowing the tumbling logs to continuously collide with his crouching body.
Under the guidance of Earth’s gravity, log after log slammed onto Liu Zhenhan. Some were sent flying, some were caught there, gradually sliding down the snow, changing direction and sliding vertically down the mountain.
Every time a log struck the Overlord, the eyebrows of the militiamen carried a twitch of awe. The spectacular sight conjured a Beamon proverb - A green party blocks a chariot.
The militiamen believed that the smart Overlord would surely come up with a good strategy to dodge the massive rolling logs, they didn’t expect the Overlord to choose the most direct method - sheer resistance!
Surprising as it was, this method, under the circumstance of charging up a hill, was indeed a pretty good one, assuming you are strong and robust enough.
A few attentive militia members noticed the Overlord squatting on the ground, skillfully using his shoulders to divert the logs. The massive logs and his copper armor made loud ’bang bang’ collision sounds, but could not make him move an inch.
The Goblin warriors were a little flustered. They thought the reckless Beamon would surely be flattened by the logs, but once all the logs were released, the guy stood up from the ground as if nothing had happened.
The gate quickly closed, countless long-range weapons were fired chaotically at Liu Zhenhan. The sharp sound where they passed even shook the snowflakes in the air.
It took Liu Zhenhan some time to pull the Demon Hunter Spear from the ground. He worked calmly and confidently, like an excellent gardener plucking his painstakingly nurtured flowers.
Liu Zhenhan simply turned his back to these arrows and axes, and continued to step back. The urgent horn was ringing restlessly, heavy footsteps were endlessly coming, and authoritative voices were commanding from behind the fence.
Liu Zhenhan didn’t believe that the Goblin robbers were so stupid, so he proceeded with caution, fearing some unexpected mishap.
His concern was not redundant. Just as Liu Zhenhan skillfully avoided a few last logs, the central gate of the fence opened again, and five small carts lined up side by side under a tarpaulin appeared mysteriously in everyone’s sight with the help of dozens of Gnome.
"What is that?" Vieri stared blankly for a while, he really couldn’t figure out what was hidden under the tarp, but one thing was certain, and it was definitely no good news.
The tarp was pulled away, revealing five wooden four-wheeled carts, which looked a bit cute with their squarish shape. The wooden block facing the slope was full of bronze blades, with sharp blades exuding a threatening chill.
"Damn it!" Liu Zhenhan knew that trouble was brewing. The blades of these wooden carts were incredibly sharp, and with the impact of the wheels rolling down the hill, he could easily imagine what would happen if he got hit by these. Seeing these lethal machines, which were perfect for defending the slope, Liu Zhenhan felt a chill even before they started rolling down.
Before he could think further, the blade-carts charged down the hill road like a locomotive leaving a station. With four carts aiming directly at Liu Zhenhan from the mountain road, one took a detour and tumbled down the slope.
Liu Zhenhan is not so foolish as to collide with these blade-carts! Luckily he still had a Demon Hunter Spear in hand. Liu Zhenhan immediately dropped the Wolf Fang Club, brandishing his spear like a flower, and thrust it towards the blade-carts.
Using the Demon Hunter Spear as a crowbar, he pierced one, repelled the other, straightened the bent spear shaft, and cast blade-carts aside one after another as if they were chunks of cheese.
As the astonishment of Goblins began to surface, the fourth blade-cart was also lifted mid-air; Liu Zhenhan’s Demon Hunter Spear could no longer withstand such a strong torment and broke into two with a ’snap’.
