Chapter 1541: Chapter 463: Delving into the Insider Information

However, Liu Shock also found this situation a bit strange. This Crystal Sword clearly had Elemental Power pulsating within it—by all accounts, it should be a Magic Weapon. Yet, there were no traces of any magical engravings on the sword’s crystalline blade!

The "Left Bank Fist Armor," made from "Black Taint Gold," the most malleable Magical Metal, could freely transform from a gauntlet into full Battle Armor—this surprised Liu Shock not at all. Yet this Crystal Longsword was truly disappointing to him. After all, he was a Heavenly King, treated no better than a mere grunt soldier like Laizi using generic crystal-mineral weapons. What an insult!

The ordinary Winged Knights he’d encountered—weren’t all of them equipped with weapons forged from rare metals?

While this Crystal Sword could barely pass as a Magic Weapon, its Elemental oscillations were weak at best. Compared to the Death Overlord Set, it was worlds apart. Presumably, the lousy Magic Circle embedded in the hilt provided some cheap, marginal enchantment. For a Heavenly King to wield such an ordinary Magic Weapon—how pitiful!

Liu Shock held the blade upright, positioning it at the center of his forehead. As he felt the sharp and chilling aura cut through the air around him, he shook his head in dismay.

"King Karu!" The leading guard noticed Liu Shock’s disdain and quickly tried to explain: "This ’Fiat Battlesword’ is made of the hardest ’Di E Crystal.’ Its toughness rivals even the finest metal swords! Moreover, this sword has a special feature—press the Eye of the Gemstone on the antelope-head guard, and the blade will eject and return automatically!"

Blade ejection? Was this a sword or an arrow? An automatic return? Was it a Kuerke Flying Blade knockoff? What kind of Magic Weapon was this? Liu Shock furrowed his brow, his interest piqued. He suppressed his flippant smirk and skeptical gaze, cautiously pressing a single finger onto the protruding Eye of the Gemstone embedded in the sword guard.

With a soft "zing," a transparent flash shot forth at breakneck speed toward a nearby Fear Knight, cleanly slicing off one of the twisted horns atop his head.

The transparent crystal blade retreated rapidly after its successful strike, clicking back into the hilt of the Fiat Longsword, where the antelope-head guard tightly locked its grip with a kiss-like motion.

Liu Shock finally understood. At the moment of the blade’s ejection, the antelope-head’s mouth naturally opened up. After a faint spring-lock sound, the blade was released like a powerful crossbow bolt. During its return, the guard’s mouth re-closed, relying on the dense rows of fangs within to latch into pre-drilled slots located at the base of the blade. This ensured the sword’s stability during typical combat scenarios.

The Fear Knight, now missing one horn, clutched his head in surprise. He and the other three guards fixed hostile, fiery gazes on Liu Shock.

"My apologies! My apologies!" Liu Shock quickly called out. He genuinely hadn’t meant to do it.

"Majesty, the Fiat Longsword is permanently enchanted with the ’Swallow Return Technique.’ During duels, life and death are dictated by fate, but recklessly harming a Knight without valid cause—no matter who—is a grave offense! I hope you will take more care in the future!" The leading Demon Clan guard’s tone was sharp, though tempered. After all, this bumbling Heavenly King had acted accidentally. Besides, for members of the Fear Clan, losing a horn was akin to losing hair for ordinary Demon Clan folks—it neither hurt nor bled, and posed no real issue.

"Permanent enchantment using the Swallow Return Technique?" Liu Shock was dumbfounded once again.

The "Swallow Return Technique" was a mid-tier auxiliary spell shared by both Qi Magic and Wind Magic. Rare? Perhaps not unusual at all.

Simply put, it was an auto-return Magic, akin to the Kuerke Flying Blade wielded by Antelope Warriors—it could return after attacking. The difference was that one relied on magic, the other on skill.

The greatest utility of the "Swallow Return Technique" was for exploration rather than combat—for example, in ancient caves or unexplored ruins. To prevent the misfortune of stepping into unknown traps or triggering mechanisms that might conceal lurking dangers, Mages often enchanted thieves with this spell, ensuring their safe return after venturing forth.

Yet, "permanent" enchantment was a whole different matter altogether!

Permanent enchantment was closely tied to the technique of injecting ready-made magic into Top-grade Magic Crystals—but while the process was similar, the end results diverged dramatically!

Across the known world, magic storage vessels on par with Top-grade Magic Crystals could be counted on one hand!

Infusing ready-made magic into Top-grade Magic Crystals wasn’t remarkable in itself. But applying the same process to Magical Metal or even living beings—that was permanent enchantment!

This craft differed drastically from injecting magic and war hymns into Dragon Crystals, something anyone could accomplish!

Permanent enchantment required a Magic Teacher-level Mage to achieve, and it came at an immense cost—completing such an enchantment would cause the Mage to drop four levels in rank!

More importantly, permanent enchantment was limited strictly to non-offensive spells!

Consider this: Would any Mage willingly reduce themselves to a mere Magic Apprentice just to permanently enchant a utility spell that wasn’t even intended for attack? Barring divine intervention, who could be such a fool?

Throughout all known Aegean history, the only ones with the audacity and obsession to undertake such endeavors were the Elves! They had once permanently enchanted "Whirlwind Technique" onto select Birdwing Crossbow Cars to amplify the damage of Serrated Crescent Blades, aiding their battle against the near-indestructible carapaces of the Demon Clan’s underground Overlords. Liu Shock had acquired five Birdwing Crossbow Cars from the Underdark Elves—but none possessed this formidable trait! Only the legendary crossbow car that achieved fame during the Emerald Defense Battle and was teleported away by Master Fran using "Dimensional Shift Magic" exhibited this true, unrivaled effect, mowing down hundreds of armed mercenaries like grass before denuding an entire bamboo forest. What a terrifically menacing war machine!
