Chapter 1526: Chapter 456: Straightforward vs. Scheming
Casablanca City had fallen into a deathlike silence.
The city’s heart and pulse seemed to be gripped by an invisible hand, and none of the Demon Clan who witnessed this bloody scene were able to breathe!
This was a Four-winged Magic Knight!
Throughout the Demon World, there were only slightly over two hundred Winged Knights, and among them, merely ten were Four-winged. Coast Contribution Continent currently held only two seats!
For this year’s Left Bank Heavenly King election, no one in the Demon World had expected a nameless hero from the civilian ranks to suddenly emerge and seize the crown with a single strike!
And yet, on the very first day of the election, an unknown Silver-eyed warrior casually and effortlessly killed the famous Four-winged Magic Knight of Coast Contribution Continent, "Roaring Tyrant" Rashid Wallace!
Effortlessly? Old Liu would beg to differ. Dealing with a Four-winged Knight was one thing, but if faced with a Six-winged Heavenly King, he wouldn’t hesitate to unleash a burst of "Washing Yin Light," followed by launching a flying wheel and blasting his opponent’s head into a pulp!
Different levels definitely require different rules of engagement!
But at this rate, all of my strengths and weaknesses will be laid bare to the Demon Clan. Old Liu sighed inwardly while discreetly removing a large water pouch from his belt and draining all the fresh blood essence swirling around his left hand into the pouch.
To camouflage his unusual behavior, Old Liu put on an act—pretending to take a vigorous swig from the pouch, though he barely touched his lips to it. Then, with a face full of exaggerated satisfaction, he gulped loudly, eliciting another huge gasp of astonishment from the crowd beneath the stage. Clearly, just like the Aegeans, the Demon Clan could not accept the barbarism of drinking fresh blood raw.
"Powerful Silver-eyed warrior, His Majesty Jiabao demands an audience with you immediately. Today’s Heavenly King election is temporarily suspended!" Under the watchful eyes of the masses, a Six-winged Heavenly King, clad in noble armor and with an expression as cold as ice, personally descended onto the martial platform to relay the highest orders to Old Liu, who still had traces of blood at the corner of his mouth.
Old Liu wiped the blood from his lips and followed the Six-winged Heavenly King, flying towards the palace balcony.
From the towering Flame Tower, a massive bronze mirror reflected a scorching beam of light that tracked his body as it moved. Winged Magic Knights appeared to escort Old Liu, flying protectively at his sides with vigilant gazes.
Throughout the journey, Old Liu busily calculated his own assets.
Up until now, he had deliberately used "Blood Moon Flying Wheel" instead of "Blood Arrow Fusion." He did so because the Demon Clan had already been in contact with the Valenbuer Bat People and Moore, meaning they wouldn’t be completely unaware of Blood Magic. Additionally, considering the Demon Clan elites he encountered in Southern Cross Star Forest, it’s evident they were targeting Firenzé, proving that his status as a Saint-Level practitioner of Blood Magic had indeed drawn their attention.
Undoubtedly, the Lucian Elves were also causing mischief behind the scenes, stabbing him in the back. If they hadn’t leaked information, there’s no way the Demon Clan could have known he was a Saint-Level Blood Magic user!
Since the Demon Clan had such data on him, they should also be aware that he commanded the Blood Arrow attack magic. Old Liu believed his caution wasn’t unwarranted.
As for "Pick Flower Finger," that was a floral ability magic obtained in the desert. If the Demon Clan knew about it, they’d have to have planted a satellite over in Aegean! The two Dunhuang Blood Servants were acquired concurrently with "Blood Moon Flying Wheel"; naturally, there was no chance of any information leakage.
After careful consideration, Old Liu still felt the odds of exposing himself were slim.
After all, his eyes flickered with a Silver South Cross Star, and his purple hair—colored with Thousand-leaf Nymphaea—didn’t fade at all. If the Demon Clan actually had a vivid enough imagination to link him to being an Aegean spy, well then, it truly would be "man proposes, God disposes!"
Intuition told Old Liu that this delicate Jiabao Majesty might not be so easily deceived. Though he wasn’t particularly smart, he understood one simple principle: anyone who ascends to the throne is never an ordinary figure.
The only option now was to take things as they came. If worse came to worst, he’d reveal his true self and put on a full combat display. He even brought along his engagement ring; if the fight broke out, he had full confidence in retreating safely amid the chaos!
Flying through the palace’s vast and majestic balcony, across enormous hallways larger than mountain caves, and winding through countless twists and turns, Old Liu arrived at a well-shaped grand hall.
This grand hall was unbelievably massive. The decorations and sculptures around were all aged and dim, covered with moss—completely out of place with the opulence he had seen earlier.
Two large pools stood in the center of the hall, crisscrossed by stone bridges. Under the glow of an arcane formation, skeletal beast sculptures in the water continually sprayed umbrella-shaped columns skyward, alternating endlessly—a sight both strange and captivating.
The dome of the grand hall was riddled with densely carved holes. Light from the outside streamed through these holes, forming vertical beams within the hall. Yet, instead of illuminating the space, the beams only accentuated its gloominess, filling the hall with an ancient atmosphere steeped in the passage of time—even the air seemed infused with a sense of decay and desolation.
At the northernmost, highest point, Jiabao Majesty sat regally upon a crystal throne, receiving Old Liu in a posture of unparalleled luxury.
Beneath the throne were eighteen crystal steps, and at the base lay a plaza-like concourse guarded by a lineup of Demon Clan soldiers armed with glaives. Their chillingly sharp weapons emanated ghostly glints, casting an icy aura over the hall.
Masses of Demon Clan officials stood solemnly on either side like statues, hands respectfully clasped, awaiting Witch King Jiabao’s command.
Within such a sinister hall, faced with a murderous army glittering with frosty steel, one could easily feel they were in an underground tomb, about to be minced into meat by an army of grave guardians!
If anyone else had been here, they might well have been terrorized; but as far as Old Liu was concerned, this sort of display was better left undramatized!
Positioning oneself with lofty authority, supplemented by military might, combined with a demonstration of steadfast loyalty by devoted subjects, this was the ultimate psychological oppression a ruler could inflict upon a subordinate. Old Liu quite enjoyed employing these tricks himself.
Pulling out Firenzé’s grand parade could easily dwarf this spectacle in scale—even bringing Piegel Witch Doctor Nochadamas into the mix could fool many people.
In this world, eyes can’t deceive, especially when confronting old hands and seasoned veterans. Old Liu had no intention of feigning trepidation.
In truth, he didn’t even know how to disguise himself in such a setting. The murderous intent and presence of these Demon Clan guards made him instinctively loath to fake anything; doing so later might actually make him look guilty.
Thus, Old Liu simply maintained calm composure and confidently gave Witch King Jiabao Majesty a knightly salute—a half-kneeling bow.
"Karu warrior, where is your hometown? State your surname so that I may see which family has nurtured such talent!" Jiabao Majesty’s gaze faintly glimmered with appreciation and acclaim, though his voice brimmed with solemnity.
"My hometown is in the Forest of No Return within the Misguided Mountain Range. I am a native of the woodlands; my parents passed away, and I have no family. My name is Solomon Karu. If Your Majesty could help me find my kin, I would be greatly indebted."
"You’re using Mental power to communicate with me?" Jiabao Majesty’s voice instantly carried a hint of displeasure.
A noticeable number of officials beneath the throne had already cast their astonished gazes toward Old Liu. They were no foolish tavern owners; of course they could distinguish Mental power from spoken words.
Strong individuals capable of Mental communication were plentiful among the Demon Clan, but to communicate this way with the Witch King Majesty carried an air of audacity and recklessness.
"I was born deaf and mute, Your Respected Majesty."
Old Liu delivered this response solely through Mental transmission directed at Jiabao Majesty, rendering it impossible for others to intercept.
He had even humorously dubbed his skill "Secret Sound Transmission."
"No wonder! I see now why your pupils display the Silver South Cross Star instead of shimmering silver threads—it’s due to incredibly potent Mental power spilling outward." Jiabao Majesty’s interest seemed suddenly piqued: "Ha ha... If I’m not mistaken, your eyes also carry hints of Natural Charm within them."
"Disordered flowers gradually captivating the eye"—to put it plainly, it’s "Eye of Charm," reliant on Mental power to enchant others emotionally.
The Silver-eyed tribe of the Demon World are inherently gifted with powerful Mental abilities, which is why every Silver-eyed Demon Clan member’s pupils shimmer with silver threads—a testament to their immense Mental strength. The mightiest Silver-eyed individuals could even use silvery strands of Mental power to attack opponents in the surrounding air!
Old Liu’s case was truly a lucky coincidence. The Silver South Cross Star manifesting in his pupils was inevitable rather than accidental.
"Majesty, it seems there’s no Silver-eyed family in the Demon World bearing the surname Karu," a seasoned, robust voice quickly pointed out. The voice belonged to a Dreadlord—a burly figure with an incongruously refined face.
Ha ha... linking the Silver-eyed Demons to the scavenging ogres of the wasteland? Old Liu found it quietly amusing.
"Warrior Karu, why don’t you clarify matters? Surely you owe an explanation to His Majesty and to us!" the voice countered, questioning Old Liu.
"My parents passed death early; how do you expect a reclusive rural man like me to explain? Let me tell you, my parents secluded themselves in the Forest of No Return before I was even born!" Old Liu shrugged with roguish indifference: "Currently, I am employed with the ’Heart of the Brave’ Adventure Team. Frankly speaking, I only joined the Left Bank Heavenly King election out of curiosity, never expecting..."
"Check immediately—what level is this ’Heart of the Brave’ Adventure Team?" Jiabao Majesty interrupted Old Liu’s words and waved toward a personal guard.
This Silver-eyed guard promptly retrieved a Noah Key Bone Spirit Box from his satchel, turned a crystal knob to adjust the frequency channel, and began communicating with the outside world.
Look at this lifestyle! It’s practically upper-floor, lower-floor, electric lights, and telephone. Old Liu was practically dying of envy.
