Chapter 1512: Chapter 450 The First Step of Infiltration_2
"Hopefully it’s a beauty." Old Liu couldn’t help but think of the cliché scenes that often appear in knight novels, and then he rushed over with boiling blood and excitement.
He was a bit disappointed.
At the foot of the mushroom-shaped mountain peak was an open campsite surrounded by trees, leaning against a protruding rock, and backed by a deep pool. A large area of thorny bushes had been cleared by hand, leaving a big pit on the ground with a triangular tent supported by a half-curtain style frame.
Under the illumination of the two moons in the sky, the visibility on the ground was incredibly bright. Liu Zhenhan saw seven demon adventurers fiercely battling a creature that had leaped out of the deep pool, causing turbulent waves.
This deep pool of about forty feet in diameter was covered with a thick layer of ice. A monstrous creature with a frightening visage like that of an abyssal squid broke through the ice in the middle of the pool, creating a large hole about five or six meters in diameter, revealing its bald, monk-like head; its massive and ugly body was covered with dozens of tentacles, each chubby tentacle thick enough to wrap one’s arms around and topped with canine-like barbs and sticky slime; it had two lantern-sized eyes flashing seductive red light, and it intermittently opened its mouth full of sharp fangs, emitting a low growl, looking extremely violent and fierce.
Liu Zhenhan landed silently on a curled-up tree crown resembling a Mongolian yurt and quietly overlooked the entire battlefield from high above.
He was now an expert who could cloak and contain his body’s Elemental Fluctuation with mental power, and the Soul Fire, half a foot tall above his head, was completely concealed by the dazzling clear moonlight; therefore, his arrival went unnoticed by any of the demon adventurers engrossed in the battle, and even by the monster of the deep pool.
Liu Zhenhan might not know what the deep pool creature was, but these seven adventurers were unmistakable members of the Demon Clan, each one of them once a fierce figure who had stirred up bloodshed on the Aegean Continent.
The one wielding a broadsword and resisting the attacks of the deep pool creature was a tall, attractive silver-eyed warrior over two meters tall, with an expression of indifference and robust stature.
This was one of the powerful warrior races of the Demon World, as well as a renowned handsome race. Romance never fades with time, and in past years, bards of the Aegean had hailed the Silver Eyes of the Demon World alongside the Elves of Aegean, Valenbuer, and Smey as the four most stunning men of the era!
The once-fearsome Death Knights and Winged Magic Cavalry originated from this Silver Eyes race as well. Old Liu, who unashamedly wanted to impersonate a member of this race, had even specially dyed his hair into a long purple Mohican.
The silver-eyed warrior in battle was wearing a set of dim and old metal armor. With purple hair fluttering in the wind, he stood in knee-deep water, vigorously swinging his sword infused with the power of ice. Judging by the design of this broadsword, it was yet another counterfeit "Frost’s Sorrow."
Standing by his side were two Ghouls about one and a half meters tall, one with a big butt and the other skinny and black. Their ugly skin was a gray-white color, full of cracks and chilblains. The two Ghouls were using their extra-long arms and sharp metal claw-covered fingertips to assist the Silver Eyes warrior in battle.
Seeing that the family crest on the shoulder armor of the silver-eyed warrior was already a bit blurred, Old Liu guessed he might be a descendant of a fallen noble. This could also be inferred from the looks of his two servants; the Ghoul clan were hereditary retainers of the Silver Eyes, but these two Ghouls seemed more suited to be wandering Beggars than warriors. The short yet fierce battle had already proven this, with one Ghoul having been swallowed whole by the creature’s tentacles, while another was torn apart like a tree leaf, losing an arm and rolling in the muddy water in pain.
Fortunately, this silver-eyed warrior possessed solid combat skills. Facing imminent danger, he kept his composure, and with every thrust of his sword, flesh was torn, seizing the opportunity when the monster was caught off guard to slice through a tentacle-like arm, preventing the bloody scene from becoming completely one-sided; not far behind him, a male and a female Lich, along with a priest and a cave demon, were fighting desperately, assisting him in repelling the abyssal monster.
The male Lich, with a baby-faced visage, was levitating three feet above the ground, his lotus leaf robes fluttering. His hands flickered with dazzling silver-white frost as he continuously conjured the power of deathly chill to attack the monster in the deep pool. Beside him stood a skeletal Mage, leisurely casting fist-sized fireballs—presumably his summoned creature. The other female Lich had a beautiful face and a graceful figure, wearing a mage robe similar to an evening gown, standing in high heels more than ten centimeters tall, her purple hair standing on end, streaks of electricity disappearing in her hair tips. Coupled with her successive howls, strands of electricity laced with the power of curses intermittently struck the giant creature in the pool.
As for the priest of the Demon Clan, by professional classification, they belong to the ground medical units, but they should also know some arcane spells that can enhance combat capability, although not as professional and formidable as the Obsidian Destroyers; Liu Shock observed from atop the canopy for a while, only to find that apart from his pose looking somewhat imposing, this priest was almost utterly useless.
With a motion of his hands, he could summon a mysterious glyph that looked like a shimmering eye in mid-air. Liu Shock had been quite expectant at first, only to discover that the arcane spell he cast was merely an "Evil Frenzy"—with Liu Shock’s experience, he could tell at a glance that this was a mishmash arcane spell, slightly boosting the recipient’s elemental power, physical strength, perception, and agility, but all to a very limited extent, quite unprofessional.
It was the last cave demon that truly broadened old Liu’s horizons.
This Demon World species was once one of the nightmares of the whole Aegean Continent, once humorously dubbed as "the Demon World’s Hauss". Possessing the size of a warhorse and scythe-like primary claws, these cave demons all had exceptional hand-to-hand combat abilities. But what truly terrified people were their flying spears; every adult cave demon could rely on the high-pressure air ducts located at the rear to shoot two-meter-long spears with a range up to four hundred yards, boasting impressive penetrating power.
It is said that overlord-level cave demons can even possess an "Armor Piercing" elemental power—referred to as "Armor Piercing", these spears shot by cave overlords can, just like the "Nai’aozu’s Heart-Piercing Nail", ignore one layer of defense and initiate attacks through barriers, truly fearsome!
Although the cave demon fiercely battling the deep pool monster did not possess the ability of an overlord, just watching him deftly pull spears from the quiver on his carapace with his four spider claws, then loading them into the high-pressure air ducts at his rear, and firing them off with a "pop" like opening a bottle of champagne, made old Liu feel as if his own muscles were cramping, admitting his inferiority.
If nothing unexpected occurred, these adventurers were undoubtedly doomed.
