Chapter 1249: Chapter 344: Gathering of Generals_2

"Richard, it’s useless! This prison is a fully enclosed underground cell. The cell door is made from a steel plate twenty-four inches thick; it can only be opened using machinery. The stone walls on all sides are as thick as mountains! Even if you had the power to break free from your shackles, you still couldn’t escape," lamented Chief Deseli of the Giants with a sigh, "Haven’t you noticed that Rommel doesn’t even need to station guards here?"

"Is that so?" Richard turned back and chuckled at Chief Deseli. Guoguo stood smiling at his feet, twirling a dark ring on the tip of her finger. The ring wasn’t large, but a faint magic power lingered on its surface.

"From your conversation with Rommel, I know that you might not live past tonight," Chief Deseli continued, unaware of Guoguo’s ring, "The Giants cannot stand by and watch death. I do have a method to free you, but I’m not sure if it will work."

"Is that so? If you have a way, then why are you still here in this prison? Why not take your people and leave!" Richard said passionately as he stroked the feathers of a small parrot, without even looking up.

"Despite its vastness, where can we Giants go? Rommel has known us for ten years. I know his temper; he will absolutely not let us go. He knows us too well," the bitter, ironic laughter of Chief Deseli echoed in the confined space, creating a somber atmosphere, "This method to break the siege might only be achievable by you, we ordinary Giants have no hope."

"Just tell me," Richard said, raising his eyebrows in surprise.

"Rommel has already told you..." Chief Deseli paused briefly, slightly resentful, "... our tribe’s protector warrior, the ’Rudd Giant,’ has passed away."

"Giant’s of small stature exist on the Aegean Continent too, though they are rare. If I remember correctly, your Giant population now is only one hundred and thirty-two. Given such a scarce population, it makes sense that you haven’t produced a unique Giant," Richard replied with a bitter smile, shaking his head, "Actually, if the Giants want to leave, this prison can’t hold you back at all. Whether or not there’s a Rudd Giant, you have the strength to do so."

"Richard, since the beginning of our Giants’ history, there has never been a disruption in the succession of protector warriors!" Chief Deseli argued urgently, "For some unknown reason, our Giant tribe has lost this historical legacy! Right now, there are no pregnant women within our tribe, and none of the children meet the height of a ’Rudd Giant.’ I’m even beginning to fear that this might be a harbinger of our tribe’s extinction!"

"That’s really terrible; it feels just as bad as if we had lost our ritual legacy," Richard mused quietly; the birth rate of their Napoleon was remarkably high! For every advantage, there’s a disadvantage, and for these kind Giants, having a warrior as powerful as a Giant Dragon is like having a Regular Army. Without an army, a country will certainly fall, and what about a Giant tribe without its protector warriors?

"Our hope is not lost! When I was just looking at you, a spark of inspiration flashed through my mind. Among all the Giants, there’s one more person who meets the height of a ’Rudd Giant’—you, Richard!" Chief Deseli stood up excitedly, his lumpy head hitting the top of the iron cage with a clang, causing a buzzing echo throughout the prison.

"Are you joking?" Richard was astonished.

"Ji Sikaibi is intended to be your consort, which makes you a deserving foreign Giant! So you’re one of our tribe too, Richard..." Chief Deseli continued, rubbing his head and grimacing, as the top of the cage morphed into a sharp birdcage design.

"Wait a minute!" Richard hastily waved his hand to interrupt Chief Deseli’s fervent words.

"Respectable Chief Deseli, think about the age of Ji Sikaibi this year! I need not say more about the rest, right?" Richard let out a mocking smile, "I’m not familiar with Desert customs; ignorance is blameless. Giants are magnanimous, surely you can forgive my impulsiveness?"

"Of course we cannot forgive!" A chorus of indignant shouting erupted in the cell immediately.

Richard jumped in fright, seeing the enraged expressions of the Giants, guessing that if they weren’t physically weak and blocked by the iron bars, they might come out and tear him apart.

"Richard, I was only making a hypothetical suggestion—this was a desperate idea! Whether you can become a Rudd Giant, I’m not sure either!" Chief Deseli waved his hand, motioning everyone to calm down and looked at Richard amiably, "Since ancient times, no foreigner has been able to stand here lucid after being washed by the ’Washing Yin Light.’ I swear, even a Flying Lizard struck by this light would turn into a fool!"

"My Blood Magic and Overlord Dragon Power are even more formidable than a Giant Dragon," Richard thought, feeling a pang of hurt in his heart.

"Richard, having been cleansed by the ’Washing Yin Light,’ you have already qualified as a foreign Giant! However, this does not mean you can become a protector warrior Rudd Giant. All this will only be clear after the ’Baptism of Wisdom’ I give you! If you weren’t the only one left fitting the Rudd Giant’s short stature, I would never have considered this," Chief Deseli chuckled, adding, "I just said that I have a way to help you escape, but I’m not sure if it’s feasible-------------only genuine protector warriors amongst the Giants, upon receiving the ’Baptism of Wisdom,’ will awaken the fighting spirit specific to a ’Rudd Giant.’"
