Chapter 1216 - 330: Fighting Like a Gentleman
Chapter 1216: Chapter 330: Fighting Like a Gentleman
The ancient city ruins were solemn and silent; the siege had lasted for twelve days, and the Magnetic Forbidden Area finally disappeared.
The barrier that troubled songs and magic power vanished, and the magnetic force that clung to steel weapons was all extinguished into invisibility.
Every Beamon carried both anticipation and a bit of heartache because the Shaman of Divine Songs, to regain everyone’s freedom, would surrender to the Mulanese in his personal capacity after this battle.
At the invitation of the Mulan commander, before the Shaman of Divine Songs bid farewell, there would still be a gentlemanly battle between Beamon and Mulan.
"A battle like gentlemen," this great slogan had disappeared on the Aegean Continent for many years now, with the last gentlemanly battle dating back to the era of the campaign at Mount Hyjal a thousand years ago. General McMarlan of the Beamon Haus clan, besieged for seven months and with only a thousand Archers left, out of food and undoubtedly facing defeat, proposed a gentlemanly archery battle to the human General Hannibal, who led a fifty thousand-strong army surrounding the holy mountain.
This human epic General graciously accepted and fielded a thousand of his crossbowmen for battle.
The two armies faced off within range; General McMarlan invited the other side to shoot first, but General Hannibal then invited the Beamon Archers to start, showing extreme deference. In the end, Beamon still made the first move... That battle was the Bimon Army’s last victory.
This quaint piece of history made General Hannibal a hero not only to humankind but also in the hearts of the Beamons.
Rommel was also aware of this history and knew he had to use this battle to re-establish the courage to face one’s opponent directly for his warriors, beyond just political factors.
After witnessing the gruesome battle at the ancient city ruins, the Mulan soldiers were somewhat dispirited. The Beamon warriors’ terrifying stature and natural divine strength were just too oppressive. Simply imagining them wielding logs and charging out of the city gates made one’s liver and gall shatter.
As a perceptive commander, Rommel had felt this unusual mood spreading among his soldiers early on. He could not deny his deep admiration for this remnant Beamon force; but as a commander, what he now most needed to do was to boost his own army’s morale—courage and pride are the essence that binds an army together. Without this soul, even an army made up of lions would be no more than a flock of sheep.
The morning breeze was cold and cutting, with the distant mountains in silence.
Two hundred Arsenic Giants, singing the resonant Flying Camel military song, lined up two miles in front of Hu Ye Ancient City.
Clad in the finest camel hide riveted armor, these frost-armored giants were wrapped tightly; the massive Uzi Curved Knives in their hands were like crescent moons on the horizon, emitting an icy, bone-chilling reflection.
The Arsenic Giants were the pride of the Flying Camel Legion, among the strongest troops of both the entire Flying Camel forces and the whole Taklamago. With the Vulture Lantern Knights having suffered near half casualties, the Subsand Corps entirely fallen in battle, the Harp Archers stripped of their prestige, and the Pterosaur Knights killed in action, it was only the Arsenic Giants that still maintained high morale and an eager desire for battle.
With a thunderous boom, the gates of Hu Ye Ancient City flung wide open.
Two hundred Bimon warriors, wrapped in the biting cold of the desert and wasteland, emerged in a continuous stream from Hu Ye Ancient City, clad in Crown Thorns Armor.
To contend with the physically powerful Arsenic Giants, Liu Shock spent all night carefully selecting the optimal lineup. In addition to dispatching fifty valiant Mountain Goat Warriors and fifty Hippopotamus Shield-Axe Fighters, along with his personal bodyguards from the Summer Palace warriors, Prince Kahn also led six Liger princes, Pier, Orephin, Rhine, and Taige’s high-ranking warriors into battle.
From the moment the first Beamon warrior stepped out of the ancient city, the Mulan soldiers entered a state of collective breath-holding.
Look at the armor worn by these Beamon warriors!
They were clad in hedgehog-like heavy armor; just from the thickness of the armor, one could tell how indestructible it was! And yet, wearing such heavy battle armor, they remained agile and nimble!
Look at the weapons used by these Beamons!
Pure metal Totem Pillars! Merely the two wing-cutting rings on the pillar heads already weighed more than the twelve-pound standard-issue Mulanese sabers!
Huge kite shields! Door-like massive axes! By Mani above, these weapons would be more than sufficient to make a door!
And even gigantic anchors?
Just by looking at the weapons in the hands of the Whale Warrior Figo, the Mulan soldiers felt sweat roll down their backs, their psychological burden tantamount to a state of myocardial infarction—where were these weapons meant for warriors? They would be better suited for gods from the primeval era to create heaven and earth!
Imperial Guard Commander Golemuhamedi’s lips twitched nervously, his face an ashen blue, his fingers tightly clenched; beside him, Field Marshal Rommel’s rocky and stoic facial contours imperceptibly twitched, and his piercing eyes shifted away.
Rommel was mentally prepared for today’s situation, but looking now, he had underestimated the opponent; these Beamons actually possessed such rare heavy battle armor! Who claimed the equipment of the Bimon Kingdom was poor? Rommel felt like he could chop that idiot!
The two hundred Bimon warriors quickly lined up in front of the ancient city, their weapons bristling, imposing like a tyrannical sea. Next to them, the rather amateur Arsenic Giants paled by comparison, highlighting the fearsome presence of this élite force of Beamon warriors—their stature and heavy armor, their weapons, and those eyes constantly brimming with violence, all fit the most standard image of a war machine. These were professional, steely soldiers, the likes of which only appear in knightly novels.
