Chapter 1198: Chapter 323: The Peculiar Method of Defending the City_4

Among those greeting them was a flurry of "Immortal Thorns," where some Rénamá warriors had just shown their heads and immediately had quivering arrow tails lodged in their eye sockets, falling backward from the high "Cloud Ladder" like tumbling scallions. Some lucky camel warriors, who managed to leap onto the city wall, discovered in horror that a well-organized army was still tightly assembled within the ancient city, ready for battle. On the broad sandy ground of the city, spanning fifteen acres, the most striking sight was the two rows of House archers, stretching out in formation. They pulled their bowstrings calmly, reaping Rénamá warriors who stepped onto the city wall like a sickle through wheat. These veteran archers, survivors of countless battles, possessed outstanding Archery skills. Their skills made their "Immortal Thorn" arrows exceedingly tricky, mostly hitting the soft pupils of the eyes, then penetrating deeply into the head. On the unprotected city wall, every Rénamá warrior, wielding a wooden club they were unfamiliar with, one after another, screamed in agony and twitched as they collapsed—each "Immortal Thorn" evidently had been coated with lethal poison.

Ten stairway paths leading from the city wall down to the city were tightly surrounded by neat formations of Bimon warriors. At the forefront of the formation stood Difeng Giants and Antelope Warriors, along with Berserk Bear Warriors, Rhinoceros Warriors, and Orephin Strongmen, forming an elite human wall. Behind them were rows of Taige warriors, each with a homemade spear thrust into the sand in front of them—these spears, sharpened on rocks using Aquilaria Gun Rods, were roughly made missile weapons that, under the strength of Taige warriors, meant certain death! Forty Bimon beast trainers stood behind the Taige warriors, though they just held their badges in their hands.

Other Bimon warriors, now serving as engineers rather than fighters, were "click-clacking" as they honed their spears against the rocks.

"Take careful aim! At fifty yards, even a House tribe woman could hit the mark!" Liu Zhenhan stood atop an abandoned cart, slowly shouting at over six hundred House archers, "Ignore those fish that slip through the net rushing down the city wall; your targets are the Mulanese exposed on the ’Cloud Ladder!’"

Together with the Dragon Horn Legion and surviving House archers, as well as the chosen marksmen from the Worshiper Followers, Liu Zhenhan had today assembled his strongest trump card—dozens of giant desert cacti bristling with dense "Immortal Thorns," which were Liu Zhenhan’s confidence!

Not a single Rénamá warrior could make it down the stairways into the city. The Mulan warriors were in a dire state; they had never anticipated that even their own archers could not use bow and arrows, which the Bimon, however, still managed to have in plentiful supply. The expected fierce battle at the city wall simply did not happen; instead, the enemy directly abandoned the city wall and set up their stance within the city!

How could there be such a commander!

The camel warriors were nearly driven mad! Though they numbered two thousand, as they kept climbing up the one hundred "Cloud Ladders," only about one hundred could appear at a time. In localized strength, at least six Bimon archers faced off against each individual camel warrior! Even a slight scrape, if it met with an arrow strike, elicited cries of pain from the warriors!

Without shields, without armor, even weapons hastily distributed, on this dreadfully open ruined city wall, aside from using their own muscles to defend against the maliciously precise arrows, the camel warriors had no other option but to retreat.

"Your Highness’s strategy is not bad!" Prince Kahn, leaning on his golden greatsword, couldn’t help but smile broadly, "Who would have thought that abandoning the city wall could work so well! The Mulanese must be puzzled why we gave up the city wall! Why our arrows can still be used in Magnetic City!"

"This is the adding fuel method! Hehe, let them keep guessing! Even the strongest warrior cannot block a poisoned arrow with their eyes without armor!" Liu Zhenhan glanced at the city gate, where a statue with a human head and ant body was creaking; the statue’s rear was blocked by ten large wooden stakes pounded into the ground so it wouldn’t move backwards.

Nedved and Xiao Cui, right and left shooters at the War God’s Summer Palace, quickly drew their bows and continuously shot volley after volley at the city gate hole while several Hippo Poets, wielding spear-attached extended bronze swords, reached out through gaps and stabbed wildly, drawing countless blood-curdling screams.

Liu Zhenhan was eager to see how these Mulanese would manage to shift this statue.

"Your Highness! The Mulanese have retreated!" The Elves’ little prince, astride a Unicorn floating in the air, drew his bow and shot another camel warrior, shouting down to Liu Zhenhan.

"Clear the battlefield, collect equipment! Continue to receive the next wave of attacks!" Liu Zhenhan laughed loudly, shouted to the Bimon warriors who were still honing their spears, "Everyone pause! Have a bowl of Ant Cow’s honey juice first!"

The grand fragrant citrus tree within the ancient city, which had endured countless years of weathering, had been completely drained dry by the Ant Cows during this period; its leaves had all turned to a yellowish brown, and its branches withered.

In return, the honey juice offered by the Ant Cows filled the bellies of the Bimon warriors.

The fact that they could drink honey water even during a battle amused the Bimon warriors.

The commander of the Imperial Guards, Golemuhamedi, was furious!

He had not anticipated that these Bimon, besieged for so long, could still unleash such formidable fighting strength! What infuriated him more was that the opponents had abandoned the conventional method of defending the city and directly given up the city wall. Without the ability to break open the city gate, and with the Mulanese archers unable to provide any long-range firepower due to their steel arrowheads, he was further disconcerted.

"Bring up the Siege Catapults!" Golemuhamedi kicked a retreating camel warrior next to him furiously.

"Smash them! Full coverage attack! Leave none standing!" Golemuhamedi roared as he drew his curved sword, "Go and commandeer all the ’Cloud Ladders’ from the Flying Camel Army! All cavalry dismount, split into five groups, and charge! Charge! Charge!"
