Chapter 1189: Chapter 321 Pipa Archer
The atmosphere atop the ancient city wall was like asphalt, stifling in its solidification.
Unthinkable!
No one could have thought, not even if they racked their brains, that the Mulan commander was a Beamon!
In that moment, Helen and General Reyes nearly considered suicide as atonement!
During the Heigar campaign, countless Fawkes sacrificers had summoned the "Nebula Chain Lightning" at the cost of their own lives to stop the human army from chasing down the Beamons. Tonight, this unparalleled feat had been utterly desecrated by this treacherous Fox Person who betrayed his country and brethren.
"Who said I was one of you Fawkes?" the Mulan commander, Rommel, laughed oddly, toying with every Beamon’s nerves on the city wall with a tone of utmost mockery, "Just because someone has a fox’s tail, does that make them a Fox Person?"
"Shut up!" Helen angrily pointed her golden staff at the Mulan commander Rommel, her chest heaving violently with the bronze "Ceremonial Code," "Traitor! If your Fawkes identity truly shames you, you could sever that mark of the Fox People! Having kin like you is the greatest misfortune of the Fox Tribe!"
"And who might you be, Fox lady dressed up like a peacock?" Rommel sneered, stroking his beard and sizing up the breathtakingly alluring Helen with a look that suffocated.
"She’s my wife!" Richard pulled Helen back, who was about to speak out, and looked down at the Mulan commander with a calm gaze.
"This Fox Tribe beauty will next be found in the lowest brothels of Kalimantan City in our Mulan Empire! I guarantee it!" Rommel narrowed his eyes, shooting out a sharp glare that locked on Helen, his tone only used for the most malicious of oaths.
Helen, furious and trembling from the vile curse, but even more chilled by his malicious gaze, knew that a man with such eyes was one to carry out his threats. She had seen this look in Richard’s eyes occasionally and was very familiar with the intent behind it.
"And what about me? Are you also going to sell me to Kalimantan City as a male whore? To console the hearts of your Mulan women, bereft by the lacking Mulan men?" Prince Kahn flexed his muscular arms, striking a bodybuilder’s pose.
"Forget to tell you, you Mulan must envy our Rhine Tribe!" His Highness Prince winked at the Mulan commander and burst into hearty laughter.
As a well-seasoned bureaucrat, His Highness could certainly dish out cutting remarks with ease.
Laughter erupted among the Beamons on the city wall, and some of the younger female priests blushed at the Prince’s crude humor, but they also felt a secret sense of satisfaction.
"People about to die often get the chance to hurl a few harsh words, and I benevolently leave you this space to vent," the Mulan commander said unprovoked by the Prince, his face bearing a slight sneer, and gestured for the black elephant slaves leading the silver elephants to turn away and leave.
"Rommel, you’re the mixed-blood of a Fawkes and a Mulanese, aren’t you?" Richard stopped the commander in his tracks with one sentence.
"A mouthpiece for divine power, have you finally noticed?" Rommel turned, his face a mock smile as he stared down at the Beamon priest dressed like a Hedgehog, adorned with a skull necklace, whom he found a bit unnerving, like a thorn stuck in his back.
"Mulanese eyes have thick blood vessels, like a curve blade stained with blood from battle and unwiped; yours are the same," Richard slanted his lips with a tinge of pity as he stared at the Mulan commander Rommel, "Though Fox People face difficulty in bearing children, it’s still possible for them to have mixed-blood offspring with other races. You Mulan have been conducting underground slave hunting in the Bimon Kingdom for a long time; I guess, your mother must have been a Fawkes woman captured and taken to the Mulan Empire!"
"Slave hunting?" Rommel sneered at the notion, turning the elephants back around, teary-eyed with glittering resentment as he fixed his stare on Richard. "Majestic mouthpiece for divine power! On what grounds do you assume my mother was hunted by the Mulanese? How dare you say that?"
"What do you mean by that?" Richard furrowed his brows. "Do you mean to say our Fawkes women would just waltz into your Mulan Empire?"
"My mother arrived at Kalimantan City when she was merely thirteen! Just thirteen!" The Mulan commander erupted like a volcano awakening from slumber, his suave demeanor vanished, replaced by a ferocious look that resembled a wild beast: "She was sold to Mulan traders by your Beamon nobility! Sold as a commodity, in exchange for beautiful Mulan danceresses! You damned Beamon beasts, I’ve cursed you for twenty-seven years! Twenty-seven years! And you dare to ask such an infantile question?"
"All Fox People are nobility! Who dares to sell a Fawkes girl as a commodity!" Richard’s scalp tensed in a moment, his eyes also starting to shift.
"Why am I even telling you this..." Rommel closed his eyes, took a long breath, and pointed a finger at Richard upon reopening them. "Speaker of the Beamon divine rights! Today, I come to witness you Beamons to tell you this—letting the ’Gold Ants’ devour over ten thousand of you is just the beginning. Next year, I will lead the Mulan armies southward, drink from the Sanggan River, plant the Mulan battle flags across the Donau Wasteland! Grind all your Beamon men into powder, sell all your women to brothels, heh, you like trafficking people, I’ll give you your fill!"
