Chapter 1169: Chapter 315: The Four Great Zither Demons
The ruffian had indeed guessed correctly!
Hundreds of flying ants had burst into the sky for only a brief moment when the entire rock desert area was filled with a massive "crackling" noise!
The trembling of the earth’s veins shook every eyeball; at this moment, it seemed as if a Titan Giant was cackling as it overturned heaven and earth, and the scene within sight was plunged into a blur amidst the shaking!
After the terrifying commotion passed, there came a suffocating stillness.
Time seemed like an hourglass with its sand cut off, eternally at a standstill.
"Bang"!
Accompanied by a sound like mountains bursting apart, a huge fountain of flying sand sprayed straight from the ground into the sky. The continuous jet of sand shot up for about ten seconds, reaching a height of around twenty meters, before transforming into a massive sandstorm that enveloped everything from above.
The choking sand dust was like a vast, earthy yellow wall, rolling turbulently in all directions.
The gales on the Gobi swept away the pervasive dust quickly, and within the thick, piercing fog of dust and sand, four giant ants, as massive as rhinoceroses, carrying a shimmering white, six-meter-long Giant silkworm, leaped from the pit with unparalleled agility.
"Damn it!" Liu Zhenhan couldn’t help but get goosebumps seeing the four rhinoceros-sized giant ants.
Ants, ants...
Liu Zhenhan had considered himself well-informed, but he had never heard of ants growing as large as fine steeds. The two types of giant ants that had just emerged from the ground were already surprising enough; these four giant ants were practically indistinguishable from the fine Thousand-Mile Horses bred by the Hauss tribes!
These four rhinoceros-sized giant ants had bodies lined with bulging contours, smooth as muscles, with limbs as thick as small barrels, giant hooves, bodies full of red, flame-like ridges, and folds that gave them an armored appearance. Their necks sported neat manes of red, which fluttered naturally in the breeze, and beneath their bodies swung a stiff endowment, remarkably spirited and peerless!
Were it not for the absence of a tail behind their buttocks, and if not for the loud huffing of these four giant ants, who would have known they were ants?
These were undoubtedly the male ants involved in mating! As for the white creature, it was undeniably the queen ant, the true ruler of this rock desert region, the mother of all ants!
Before the ruffian could regain his senses from the initial shock of the four male ants and the queen ant making their entrance, they had already given him a devastating blow.
The spot where the giant male ants and the queen had emerged from underground was still about three miles away from where the Beamon Infantry were gathered, but for the returning Wolf Cavalry, it was dangerously close—eight thousand Wolf Cavalry had charged at the Mulanese army ranks, relying on speed and sacrificing lives, forcefully carved a bloody path through five miles of ant sea. Yet the cunning and despicable tactics of the Mulanese meant that countless Wolf Cavalry who had broken through the ant sea still could not escape their fated death, tumbling into bottomless crevices after stepping into traps!
But these Wolf Cavalry were, after all, the elite force of the entire Bimon Kingdom, numbering eight brigades in total. The Wolf Cavalry who followed closely and broke out of the ant sea did not repeat the same mistake. Seeing their comrades fall into pits ahead, these Wolf Cavalry swiftly employed their excellent riding skills to stop their mounts in the nick of time to avoid a terrible fate.
However, the Mulanese and the ants were equally cunning and bloodthirsty. The Wolf Cavalry, merely to complete the action of turning around, suffered the double assault of the ants’ frenzied biting and the Mulanese’s throwing spears, paying a hefty price!
Out of eight thousand cavalrymen, less than three thousand Wolf Riders managed to reorient themselves and charge back, once again braving the five miles of ant sea. When they reached the queen ant’s side, there were still two thousand bold Wolf Riders left—the cost had been unbearably severe. The slowed-down Wolf Riders were falling almost at every step they took!
By now, the Beamon Infantry had already charged toward the ancient city under the prince’s leadership. According to the high mobility of the Wolf Cavalry, if they fought to the death to break through, at least three to five hundred would survive by reaching the ancient city’s ruins. However, contrary to their wishes, the swarms of flying ants made them, not the Chimaeras in the sky, their first target!
As if they had received a secret command, even before the queen appeared, these hugely scarred flying ants conscientiously headed towards where the queen was. The galloping Wolf Riders just happened to become their first mark. The rigid needle-like giant proboscises, like syringes, sprayed a stream of bluish-gray liquid from the sky above the Wolf Riders’ heads. The spray, with its eye-wateringly pungent smell, was limited in distance, but with the advantage of height and aided by Earth’s gravity, it broke into droplets scattering like stars, pouring onto the Wolf Warriors below, toppling them by swathes!
This corrosive acid liquid was just as tyrannically venomous as the liquid sprayed by the monstrous ants on the ground. Lacking any Magic Element vibration, it was a purely physical attack! Yet, against such physically-formed acid, not even the magical acid of the Two-Headed Chimaera and the Newton Giant Bird could compare—they weren’t even qualified to carry its shoes!
The Wolf and the immense Warhorses that fell to the ground, scorched by the droplets, released plumes of blue smoke as if a red-hot iron were being doused with boiling water, sizzling with vapor. The mournful wolf howls decorated the blood-red sunset like bleak, robust strokes of paint—a chorus of blood-curdling cries, distilling all the sorrow of their lives into today’s last rueful battle cry!
