Chapter 1154: Chapter 310: Mysterious Magnetic City

"Clip-clop, clip-clop~"

The galloping horse hooves and loud whip sounds abruptly stopped in front of the ancient city ruins.

"The Surface World actually has cities like this? Tsk, tsk... I never even dreamed of this!" Liu Zhenhan sat on a huge luxurious Overlord carriage, wrapping a red scarf around Guoguo’s face, as he gazed at the ancient city ruins a couple of hundred yards away, feeling quite emotional.

The ancient city ruins in front appeared to be artificially excavated on a pitch-black mountain. Although its scale was limited, the amount of work it took was no simple task. Cities built on a mountain such as these—Liu Zhenhan had only seen them in the Sea Country of Seia and the Underground World; it was indeed his first time seeing one in the Surface World.

The semi-circular city walls of the ancient ruins were made from black, rugged strange rocks, fitting tightly together like a huge mask enveloping half a mile of the mountain. Sandstorms had buried the base of the city walls, making them now appear no more than eight meters tall.

Due to natural desert weathering, the black city walls were full of age-old peeling scars. Most of the arrow loops, crenels, and merlons had collapsed or were incomplete; the wooden watchtowers and gate towers also remained only as sparse skeletons, melancholy and lonely atop the city; the half-buried and half-collapsed city gate still stood stubbornly, its wood turned into a dismal grey-white as if it had become ash; a few fallen poplar trees and a dry well by the gate, its rotten rope sadly swinging with the breeze; a sight riddled with wounds and desolate loneliness.

The Feilengcui Warriors also arrived quickly, trailing dust behind the luxurious Overlord’s carriage and running "huffing and puffing" for nearly twelve miles; these strong warriors still looked utterly nonchalant, showing no hint of fatigue.

"Ha ha, what a great Desert Civilization!" The hippo poet O’Neal spat out a glob of spittle, looking up at the foreboding mountain and ancient city, suddenly feeling a surge of inspiration, hastily fumbling for white Larza grass paper from his coat.

His green-bean eyes were scouting around, seeking a secluded spot to relieve himself.

The mountains nearby in the rock-desert area were all made of red rainstone, but the mountain in front of them was pitch black like charcoal, towering two hundred meters high, like a stout cone fiercely stabbing into the sky. The harsh sunlight striking the black rocks had no reflection; emitting an aura of heavy, somber death, easily evoking a nostalgic sentiment of the ancient times in sentimental souls.

Suddenly, about forty Iron Armor Mastiff dogs started growling "grrr grrr" at a honeycomb-shaped sand mound five yards away. This was a sign that they had identified a threatening opponent. The rock-desert area had many strange sand mounds, seemingly cemented together with sand and glue, covered in holes like grotesque tombs. Although not troublesome for advancing warriors, they were quite mood-dampening; this particular sand mound was big enough to hide one or two enemies. Several chilling arrowheads were immediately aimed at the spot alerted by the dogs.

"Saint Francisco! Pompei!" Bellamy shoved his fingers into his mouth and blew a loud whistle towards the mastiff pack, "Go check it out!"

Two majestically white-haired giant Mastiff Kings slowly emerged from the pack. Having been commanded by their master, the Mastiff Kings couldn’t hold back.

Their soft footpads allowed the Mastiff Kings to sprint silently. The two white Mastiff Kings, one left and one right, pounced like lightning towards the rear of the sand mound, dragging out a monster as big as a Larza Beast. This creature was covered in segmented hard shells, a long red tongue frantically flicking in panic; it resembled a giant armored mole or somewhat like an armadillo. It certainly was a Magical Beast, indicated by the sulfurous smell and wisps of black smoke spewing from its narrow nostrils.

Guoguo and the little parrot stood on the fiery-eyed creature’s head, grinning broadly, overwhelmed with excitement.

"Crack, crack," a series of sounds followed, and the two lion-sized Mastiff Kings, with a slight shake of their heads, toppled the desert Magical Beast. Before the armored armadillo could right itself, two massive figures enveloped in a gust of wind had already pounced onto its body. Their sharp teeth effortlessly sliced through the throat and cracked open the hard shell, tearing the pink flesh and blood all around.

"Damn!" Fat Luo exclaimed sharply, sliding his long sword back into its sheath, "All that for nothing; I thought it was an ambush!"

Prince Mari, the young Elf, clutched his younger brother Gomes’ arm, his beautiful eyes fixed unblinkingly on the two Mastiff Kings vigorously munching, Fear was absent from Mari even when facing Magical Beasts, but every time he saw the Mastiff dogs, especially the giant Mastiff Kings with the Red Sickle and Iron Ingot symbols on their necks, his hair stood on end.

"This is called a Magical Beast?" Bellamy laughed and went over to kick the honeycomb-shaped sand mound, bringing it down.

A cluster of red ants with green compound eyes frantically emerged from the broken sand, each as thick as a finger, with sharp forelegs. The handsome Mastiff People chief frowned, lifted his boot, and began furiously stomping on the ants, creating a "crackling" series of loud pops.
