Chapter 1116: Chapter 294: Sand Boat Troops! Surprise Attack Successful!_2
The six durian fruits were hurled with astonishing momentum, tracing slippery parabolas across the sky, seemingly slow but in fact incredibly fast. At a glance, they resembled boulders flung by stone throwers, exuding an intense oppressive force.
These six durian-like fruits landed with extreme precision, targeting the densely packed area of the Desert Dwarfs.
The Desert Dwarfs appeared to have a natural talent for special operations. Once they struck, they did not linger; as soon as the Mage’s command was issued, many Dwarfs had already wiggled their buttocks and burrowed into the Giant Snail Sand Ships. However, due to the rushed timing, the majority who couldn’t get into the Giant Snail Sand Ships still remained outside.
Those Desert Dwarfs who couldn’t make it to the Giant Snail Sand Ships in time were not to be underestimated either. Each one agilely rolled on the spot to avoid the landing spots of the giant durian fruits. The nineteen Mulan Imams, standing beside the large doors of the snails, didn’t even think before waving their hands and shooting arrows into the air to meet the incoming fruits.
From the tactical dodging movements of the Desert Dwarfs to the cover fire provided by the Imams, this sequence of maneuvers by the Mulan sand ship squadron was dazzling and highly impressive, clearly marking them as an elite unit.
"Don’t!" the Mage holding the Bone Magic Wand cried out with a wail trailing off, hoping to stop it, but it was too late.
"Bang bang bang" a series of loud explosions echoed as the six giant durian fruits were blasted midair by the rockets, scattering countless splintered little thorns like a large net cast over the crowd of Desert Dwarfs. The flickers of large sparks struck off the fine plate armor worn by the Dwarfs and the thorns, while sounds of hissing and Dwarfs’ screams filled the air.
Perhaps to avoid friendly fire, the six Giant Snail Sand Ships closest to the shock were spared from the attack by the War Ancient Tree. Both the Dwarfs and the Imams stood dumbfounded, staring at the large thorny fruits nearby — each spike was as thick as a toe and three inches long, embedding deeply and painfully into the unprotected faces of the struck Dwarfs, who writhed madly on the ground in pain.
Over two hundred Antelope Warriors immediately charged over; they abandoned their mounts to soar into the sky, converging with the six royal guards in a fierce attack on the Desert Dwarfs attempting to retreat. The fire arrows shot by several Imams dissipated harmlessly before even reaching them. The previously organized Desert Dwarfs instantly fell into chaos. Those who had made it inside the Giant Snail Sand Ships now rushed back out to face the Bimon warriors.
"Can you still run?" Liu, with a grin, closely watched the Mage a few dozen yards away.
The Magic Immunity and rapid response of the Jade Green Warriors forced the Desert Dwarf warriors into a reluctant battle. The Dwarf leader, Capti, was shocked and furious. In the blink of an eye, four of the Imams had fallen — standing side by side, the relatively short stature of the Dwarfs did little to shield the much taller Imams from being targeted by Nedved and Xiao Cui’s sniper attacks.
The Vulture People involved in the raid were merely feigning an attack; they were there just to draw attention. Now, without waiting for the Chimaera or Newton’s aerial cavalry to engage them, these Vulture People swiftly hovered away to a distance.
What had seemed like a flawless surprise attack by the Mulanese turned in an instant into being surrounded. The reaction speed of the opposition left all the Desert Dwarfs feeling inferior.
"I can’t escape, and neither can you!" The Mage holding the Bone Magic Wand, frantically chanting a spell, swiftly waved his staff and shot out three gloomy blue "Phosphorous Bone Flowers". Regrettably, this magic still could not harm Liu, who was shrouded in a Magic Shield.
The close-quarter combat had already erupted. The exceptional charge speed of the Jade Green Warriors gave the enemy no time to think or hesitate before they were entangled in a melee. At such close quarters, the Imams panicked and couldn’t prepare any advanced magic, instead reflexively firing rockets, fireballs, and flame sabers which were extinguished almost as soon as they were cast.
Unlike the Mulan Imams, the combat songs and holy psalms cast by Qian Qian and Joan of Arc flowed unimpeded, generously enhancing the strong and sturdy bodies of the Antelope Warriors.
The mage holding the Bone Magic Wand was completely dumbfounded.
Two magic attacks, both ineffective. The muscular behemoth in front of him swam in a blood-red Magic Shield, like a descending tiger and a bare-limbed celestial dancer mixed with another type of Magic Shield amidst splashing water.
About ten Desert Dwarfs wielding war hammers, seemingly in disbelief, rushed forward with roaring cries. Liu Zhenhan swatted one away with a wave of Blood Magic, sending him tumbling into his comrades behind. Another, faster dwarf, leaping forward with his war hammer aimed at Liu Zhenhan, found his hammer’s handle seized by Liu Zhenhan instead, who snatched it away as easily as stealing candy from a child, and flattened the dwarf’s head with a single blow.
In the blink of an eye, the dozen dwarfs who had charged over were either repelled by the force of Blood Magic or smashed into the dust by Liu Zhenhan alone.
The mage with the Bone Magic Wand, his mouth agape, watched the Beamon brute in front of him, seemingly lost in thought.
Liu Zhenhan, stepping on the last dwarf who still writhed uncooperatively, weighed the massive hammer in his hand and smashed it down on the dwarf’s back, creating a huge indentation. Another hammer blow on the back of the head cracked the helmet with a "pop", breaking the hammer handle and the helmet together.
The remaining Desert Dwarfs dared not charge anymore; they looked at each other tentatively.
If these Desert Dwarfs had decided promptly to retreat regardless of casualties, they might have preserved some strength; but ultimately, the dwarfs were too confident, completely unaware of how little time their terrifying opponent left them to escape!
Among the twenty Giant Snail Sand Ships, each carrying twenty Dwarf Soldiers and an Imam, attacked by the War Ancient Trees, at least fifty Dwarf Soldiers had lost their combat abilities. Yet, still boasting 350 soldiers and numerous Imams under the leadership of their chief Kartibi, these Desert Dwarfs blindly believed in their numerical advantage locally, intending to escape from the enemy’s six fearsome ancient trees amidst the chaos, quickly defeat the opponent, and retreat immediately.
Dwarf Soldiers are naturally strong; relying on their small stature, they hardly fear any opponent—those of huge stature lack their agility, and those smaller in size lack their strength. From this perspective, dwarfs could be considered the most perfectly evolved race on the Aegean Continent.
However, the opponents the Desert Dwarfs faced this time were somewhat exceptional.
The Antelope Warriors possessed tremendous strength and exceeded the dwarfs in size and height by three times, yet they found it effortless to combat the dwarfs—having frequently dealt with Gray Dwarves in the Underground World, the Antelope Warriors knew all the dwarfs’ tactics all too well.
In just one encounter, half of these Desert Dwarfs were laid out—which is why they should not have encountered the elite Golden Ring Warriors of the Bimon Kingdom.
