Chapter 1077: Chapter 279 Astonishing_3
"Yes! Our Mojie will use their treasured blades to chop all these barbarians into pieces!"
"The Mage is invincible!"
"Afterward, we’ll storm into their homeland!"
"We are the Desert Kingdom’s army; why waste efforts in a direct clash?" The Mage paused, corner of his mouth quirking as he cast a sidelong glance at the babbling officers. "Tell your men that we pull out tonight, and in seven days we must be within thirty li of Hu Ye Ancient City..."
"To the Devil’s City?" The surrounding officers were utterly astonished.
"Tallbruh!" The Mage paid no heed to the officers’ confusion and decisively issued the second command.
"Present!" A stocky, dark-faced man with a twisted beard immediately stood up, puffing out his chest. He was a typical Mulanese, his pupils thick with blood vessels, resembling a curved blade stained with blood from battle, his gaze fierce and aggressive.
"You will lead three thousand Cavalry and five hundred Flying Camel Knights, plus half of the Isco Clan’s vulture riders and a thousand Dile Archers. Take double the camels and enough dry food and clean water, and head for fifty li outside of the Suwit Oasis. Remember, your job is to harass, not to attack! Your main task is to guard this gateway, try to kill their aerial Scouts, if few in number, eat them up. But if they send a large force against you, after a brief resistance, immediately move closer to the vicinity of Hu Ye Ancient City!" The Mage quickly assigned tasks to the dark-faced, twisted-bearded giant.
"No problem." Tallbruh, the dark-faced, twisted-bearded giant, patted his sturdy chest: "I’ll ensure not even a camel fly can infiltrate the vast Desert behind us."
"Katibi!"
"Present!" A Dwarf immediately stood up, sporting sandy-hued skin and a solid body, with the distinctive beaded braids of his people, his bald head freshly shaven to a blue sheen.
"You will set off with Tallbruh, but remember, your movements must be concealed and independent. After Tallbruh retreats, I want you to destroy the enemy’s supply train. You know what to do." The Mage smiled smugly, "I’m entrusting Great Magician Zandi and nineteen Imams to you, hoping you can surprise me. I want to see what the Beamon army looks like without their supplies."
"The Desert Dwarfs will ensure they remember the name of Commander Rommel forever!" Dwarf Katibi, leaning on his warhammer, burst into laughter: "Of course, we’ll also make them remember our Flying Camel Army’s renowned moniker, ’The Mulan Storm’!"
"My name will definitely be sung by the Beamon; I swore this vow ten years ago! I will one day step onto that land." Rommel, revered as ’The Mage,’ turned around, silently gazing into the distance, the corners of his mouth lifting into a smile of satisfaction. It was the smile of a dream about to be fulfilled, the smile of a winner holding all the aces.
As the Mage turned around, a tuft of fluffy red fox tail peeked out from the hem of his brocaded robe, trembling ever so slightly.

Yale Oasis, Commander’s tent.
"The main Legion has run into a sandstorm?" Liu Zhenhan rolled his eyes dramatically, staring incredulously at the Griffin Knight in front of him, who felt a chill from his gaze: "And what about Prince Kahn? Is he dead?"
"No... not dead..." the Elf Knight said awkwardly, wiping the sweat from his forehead: "After the Vanguard Legion set out, a massive herd of migrating wild donkeys appeared near the Cambridge Oasis, so the Legion held a hunt which delayed the journey a bit. After hitting the road, the sandstorm they encountered was not severe. With the guidance of ostrich people well-versed in the desert, the Legion pitched camp in time, suffering only some loss of pack animals. Therefore, they had to resupply with materials from Cambridge Oasis, which is why there’s been a several days’ delay. The central army should arrive in another two days, and the Wolf Cavalry of the vanguard might even arrive tonight! Prince Kahn says that with the crown prince there, the Vanguard Legion will undoubtedly take Yale Oasis."
"Hmph..." Liu Zhenhan scoffed disdainfully, "...what leisure they afford themselves, going on a hunt..."
"Your Highness, I have reported the situation, I must return to relay the message." The Elf Knight bowed slightly, stepping back. Hesitating, he turned back and added, "I also want to, on behalf of our Moon Elf Clan, thank you for taking revenge for our people."
"You’re welcome." Liu Zhenhan waved his hand with impatience, and the Elf Knight bowed once more before leaving the tent.
"With the main Legion delayed by six days, our Vanguard Legion was very lucky!" General Reyes surveyed the map, shaking his head emphatically: "Had it not been for Your Highness leading the vanguard, we might very well be corpses in the great Gobi now."
"Putting the Turun Mixed Brigade in the vanguard was somewhat nonsensical, the agile Wolf Riders would have been the more suitable choice." Liu Zhenhan slammed the table, standing up decisively, "Come! Let’s go take look at those Desert brutes we’ve captured."
The Vanguard Legion had been resting in the oasis for four days. Daily patrols by the Griffin Knights had detected no enemy presence within three hundred li. From the second day onwards, the Vanguard Legion sent out a Mixed Brigade to sweep nearby large Desert Beamon tribes--the Scorpion people of the Emperor Sigha tribe and the Cobra people of the Sedahm tribe. With the help of Mages and priests and most of the adult males of these Desert brutes having joined the Mulan Empire’s mercenaries, the sweep encountered little resistance, and, after the arrival of the Elf Messenger from the main Legion, the commanding officers were informed, and the Mixed Brigade returned triumphantly with captives in tow.
