Chapter 1070: Chapter 277: Burning Bridges After Crossing

To be absolutely certain he hadn’t misread it, Liu Zhenhan rubbed his eyes twice in succession, then located Mount Tamerlarya and Sanggan River from the snowmelt tributaries on the map. He then moved his finger toward the southern bank, no mistake! Those two anonymous hills marked by mountain symbols were definitely Red Earth Highland and Razor Mountain! Throughout the entire Donau Wasteland, those were the only two mounds that could somewhat be called "hills"!

Upon sighting a round glass piece tied with a string hanging on the map on the tent wall, Liu Zhenhan casually grabbed it to have a look over Razor Mountain and Red Earth Highland, only to see the glass magnifying a bunch of wedge-shaped texts he couldn’t understand at all; this map was also filled with many of such tiny scribbles, which Liu Zhenhan magnified one by one, all of them in a wedge-shaped script he couldn’t decipher.

What terrified Liu Zhenhan the most was that, through the magnifying glass, he could even clearly see the small path leading to Tamerlarya from Razor Mountain marked out on this map!

It was too precise! This horrifying military map! The red dots were cities and settlements, the black dots were uninhabited areas, and the blue dots were military defense regions—the entire Beamon border defense deployment was plainly laid out on this map.

That the enemy country had surveyed and drawn such an accurate military map was too chilling for Beamon to contemplate!

"God of war above! Even on our own standard maps in Beamon we can’t find Feilengcui!" General Reyes stood beside Liu Zhenhan with his mouth agape, staring blankly at the military map as large as the tent wall.

"No wonder so many desert bandits have always been able to raid Beamon Kingdom and escape; they had a map directing them through the back roads!" Liu Zhenhan picked up a pomegranate from the ground, shelled a seed into his mouth, and let out a sinister chuckle.

"What exactly does this country want to do?" General Reyes asked out loud, his career as a professional soldier making him all too aware of the immense military importance of such a map.

"That’s also what concerns me," Liu Zhenhan sprawled in the main seat, gesturing Reyes to sit down cross-legged as well.

O’Neal gripped Ali Dai’s hair and twisted the head of Gold Knife Mojie to face the overlord seated on the high seat. Because the desert warrior struggled fiercely, always trying to stand up, he was kicked in the right leg by Fat Luo from behind, causing his shin to snap with a "crack" and he fell to the ground with a "thud", making the Monastic Imam Montasha who stood by tense with concern.

"What’s your name, warrior?" Liu Zhenhan lifted his chin at Gold Knife Mojie.

"Pah! A desert warrior’s name is not something to be told to you barbarians!" Ali Dai was kneeling on the ground, stubbornly twisting his neck and raising his head, his hair dropping strand by strand.

"I’ve always abhorred rocks in a pit like you," Liu Zhenhan said to General Reyes, pointing at the desert warrior.

General Fawkes also felt a bit troubled by this tough nut, as everyone disliked such obstinacy, but there was much intelligence still to be extracted from him, and it now seemed difficult to get any words out of him given his stubbornness.

"O’Neal, this one’s yours to handle. Oh, and before he dies, make sure he watches his warriors ’take a carrot.’"

Liu Zhenhan was getting impatient and waved at the poet hippo, pointing at the Monastic Imam and saying, "Old man, come over here."

"Your Highness... might I ask, what is ’taking a carrot’?" General Reyes couldn’t help but ask.

"Dig a hole in the sand..." Liu Zhenhan said with a dark smirk.

"A basin of salt water is also needed to pour over so that the carrot grows even more lushly," O’Neal laughed maniacally.

Even if General Reyes was a fool, he didn’t dare speak again, afraid that were he to open his mouth, his stomach might roll out too.

"Your turn now, old man. Tell me, what is this map? What do the small characters on it mean?" Liu Zhenhan shot icy stares at the Monastic Imam that turned the inside of the tent as cold as the streams from Mount Tamerlarya: "Don’t make me unhappy. If I detect a single logical inconsistency,"

"It’s a map... a military map..." Beads of sweat hung from the Monastic Imam’s beard as he nervously looked at the map, using the magnifying glass to discern, "The wedge-shaped script denotes strategic locations."

"Who drew this map?"

"Traders, it was drawn by traders of the Mulan Empire, starting centuries ago."

"Damn!" Liu Zhenhan smacked his hand on the table.

"Are they plotting against our Beamon Kingdom?" General Reyes also abruptly stood up.

"Over three hundred years, the Mulan Empire has annexed seventeen small nations. Though they harbor the idea for the Aegean Continent, the current situation in the Taklamago Desert isn’t too stable, with ten small nations already forming an alliance against Mulan. As for plotting, the mages of the Aegean Continent are too powerful, and if Mulan invades Aegean, it’s hard to ensure that these mighty mages won’t intervene," the Monastic Imam said with his head lowered, his shifty eyes betraying his cunning intelligence, telling him that these Beamon people wouldn’t kill him just yet.

"Nonsense! The moment Beamon Kingdom falls to you, I assure you Saint Francisco Empire will launch an assault and march into the Donau Wasteland!" Liu Zhenhan said coldly, "You’re an Imam, right? Tell me about your structure, your numbers, your composition, and everything about the Mulan Empire."
