Chapter 1068: Chapter 276: Fangs of the Dark Night

"Please afford us a bit of time to discuss your terms," Liu Zhenhan nodded to the golden-bladed Mojie, the gesture genteel.

"What should we do, Your Highness?" General Reyes frowned. Despite his scholarly background, he didn’t believe that releasing two hundred desert people would guarantee their return with ransom, but he was also averse to a violent confrontation. Peacefully resolving the issue and sparing even two of his men seemed preferable.

"We’ll do what needs to be done," Liu Zhenhan signaled to his followers with a glance.

Bellamy immediately led one hundred and eight Mastiff Warriors, storming into the tents set up in the oasis’s grove to begin looting. Twelve Mastiff Warriors climbed up the tall "Tower of Light’s Wish" using the column ladder.

"Your Highness," General Reyes said softly, "I find the gaze of these desert people too wild. Is it not better to have them lay down their weapons before we continue talking?"

A massive crackling sound erupted from the treetops, the warriors’ eyes now fixed on the Mastiffs atop the "Tower of Light’s Wish." After some fiddling, the twelve Mastiffs indeed found a way to operate the Mirror Cannons. They fired a hasty shot after exchanging information, bringing calamity to the woodland.

"Warriors of the Turun Alliance, please untie your water bags and offer a drink to our worthy opponents; the heat today is simply unbearable," Liu Zhenhan called out to all Piegel warriors before turning to Reyes, "Let me tell you something, Reyes. The look in their eyes gives me the creeps; they’re too arrogant."

The Piegel warriors were initially puzzled by their commander’s intentions, pausing before they understood and began tossing their water bags into the midst of the surrounded Mulan soldiers. As for the Mojie of the Mulan Empire, they too were confused by the opposite side’s actions. Picking up water bags and drinking heartily seemed the only choice they had, as they faced the blade either way.

Is this cultural difference? The desert men’s disdain for these barbarians grew—they might have lost the battle, but their enemies seemed too feminine. In the desert, no one showed kindness to their foes.

"Gentlemen, now that you’ve eaten and drank your fill, it’s time to hit the road!" Liu Zhenhan smirked, pursed his lips, and took a careful step back, pausing slightly. Five burly Antelope Warriors squeezed out from behind him, each shouldering a massive Birdwing Crossbow Car with half of a Serrated Crescent Blade protruding from the bronze deer mouth.

The atmosphere instantly stilled, time congealing like the workings of an ancient spring.

"Buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz, buzz," a resounding clash of mechanical gears. Five Serrated Crescent Blades, with their formidable horizontal spin, shot into the thick crowd of Mulan soldiers. The high-speed spinning blades, like droplets of water entering the desert, emitted a series of muffled "crack, crack" sounds and vanished within the sea of people.

Many Mulan warriors, who were still drinking water with uplifted necks, looked down in horror to find a chilling sensation emanating from their stomachs, and then collapsed, their bodies bisected.

At that moment, over seven hundred Antelope Warriors, hidden behind the mud walls, leaped with a "whoosh," soaring high. Their nearly four-meter stature, coupled with the jump, made them appear like a flock of large birds taking flight. They towered over everything in the oasis, including the densely packed Mulan soldiers—at this angle, they seemed like the last infantry to strike. Yet, the officials and soldiers of the Turun Alliance couldn’t recall ever having such a group of Tauren warriors among them.

The razor-sharp Kuerke Horned Blades traced light diagonal paths as they flew, a storm of dense blades slicing with precision into the throng of Mulan troops. At such proximity and against such concentrated targets, the Antelope Warriors, seasoned in wielding Kuerke Blades, needed no time to aim.

Dust flew as the mud walls crumbled under the Antelope Warriors’ trampling feet and the impact of their landing bodies. The once-sturdy walls, filled with brushwood, could no longer withstand the strain.

Together with the walls, a large number of closely huddled Mulan soldiers collapsed. The Birdwing Crossbow Cars, conceived to confront the heavily-armored Demon Clan Underlords, saw their Serrated Crescent Blades prevent wider lateral damage in powerful rotations, creating an extended fan shape. These harrowing weapons found no resistance that day and could not inflict such damage. Propelled by the terrifying force of sixteen prehistoric Giant Louse tendons, the blades cut through the fragile bodies like Arrowfish swimming freely through the sea.

The subsequent flurry of over seven hundred Kuerke Flying Blades often struck empty spots, as many Mulan soldiers had already been torn apart by the dreadful Serrated Crescent Blades.

Everyone was terrified, not only the remaining Mulan warriors but also the Piegel warriors of Turun Alliance. They were completely subdued by the overwhelming offensive power of the Birdwing Crossbow Cars and the resulting carnage.

The fearsome twelve Mirror Cannons also opened fire, now truly inflicting severe damage with their ideal design for blanket bombardments. In the recent battle, due to the premature demise of their operators, these cannons had not yet fired all the sunlight stored in the "Morning Star Gems". The tightly packed crowd of Mulan soldiers provided the perfect testing ground for such weapons, the conscripts most suited for this type of assault.
