Chapter 1056: Chapter 270: Sun-Class Weapon_4

"Damn it! If this wind doesn’t stop soon, I’m really going to lose it!" Liu Zhenhan dispiritedly shook his Eagle Eye Telescopic Glass. The rolling sand and dust obscured the figures on the mud wall almost completely.

No one knew whether his curse actually worked, but all of a sudden, the raging north wind and whirlwind disappeared as if the wind had never blown at all. The dust settled, the sun felt scorchingly hotter, and the accumulated sand in the air began to sprinkle down like spring rain.

"Darn it!" the officers all stared dumbfounded at the Shaman of Divine Songs, thinking to themselves, isn’t this a bit too miraculous?

"What a coincidence?" Liu Zhenhan himself laughed huskily as he turned around, snapped his fingers, and waved at the Antelope Warrior Duncan and two Biao warriors. "You three prepare to take off and circle over Yale Oasis to do some scouting, but don’t fly too low. These bandits aren’t good with bows and arrows, but that doesn’t mean they don’t have any. I heard their Imam is a master of fire magic, and I don’t want you to turn into roast meat flying back!"

"Your Majesty, are you preparing for battle?" General Reyes asked with a bit of excitement, as the soldiers beneath the sand dunes shook off the layer of sand from their bodies and straightened up.

"Of course we’re going to fight! This damn oasis can hide at most a few thousand people. Our Beamon warriors can fight three at a time. Can they really not beat them?" Liu Zhenhan winked at Helen. "Respected princess, please hurry up and set up the tent, blow the whistle, and gather all our novice warriors from Feryl!"

"Don’t worry─the Elder of Andulan already mobilized them last night. I’ll see to it now." Helen smiled and, signaling to her guards, went to set up the tents and arrange the Teleportation Array.

"Wait a minute! Your Majesty! Three brave Air Knights, hold on! Our scouts have arrived! Let’s hear their reports first!" One of the staff officers stopped the airborne Duncan, pointing towards the sky and shouting towards Liu Zhenhan.

In the sky, four Air Knights swooped past this sand dune—four griffins with dark gray feathers and moose heads, with Elves archers sitting on the saddles wielding short bows.

"Finally showing up! I thought you all hanged yourselves. Haven’t seen you in days!" Liu Zhenhan angrily gestured a middle finger towards the backs of the four griffin riders. As elves with extraordinary sensitivity to Wind and Wood Two-System Magic, the recent strong wind wasn’t a terrifying sandstorm, yet ordinary Air Knights couldn’t achieve what the griffin riders did, floating leisurely across the sky.

The four griffin scouts did not circle and land to report to the frontline troops but rather emitted a series of long deer howls, ascended to a higher altitude, and headed straight for Yale Oasis.

"Damn, showing off and making a scene!" several Orephin squadron leaders cursed immediately.

Upon reaching the airspace above Yale Oasis, the four griffin riders circled two or three times. Possibly assuming their opponents were poor bowmen or maybe because they hadn’t encountered any counterattacks recently, they grew a bit complacent. One by one, they dove and lowered their altitude, preparing for close-range reconnaissance.

Liu Zhenhan knew it might go south; since the opponents were prepared, there would be no reason not to have a few Imams equipped, and they wouldn’t let the Air Knights go on swaggering like this! To be honest, Liu Zhenhan no longer considered these opponents to be mere ragtag bandits.

Just as Liu feared, from the treetops of the date palm groves suddenly leapt a dozen dazzling silvery beams. Two sorrowful deer cries sounded; two of the griffin riders were instantly struck down and turned into charred remains right there. The two Elf riders also reacted quickly, seeing trouble, they immediately ascended sharply, angling their bodies and gliding away. However, their "Wind-riding Technique" obviously was not up to par. After gliding a distance, they slowly descended towards the oasis where Liu Zhenhan saw numerous desert men wielding scimitars rushing towards them; he quickly moved away the lens. Meanwhile, the other two Elf riders had already ascended to a higher altitude, vented their frustration by firing a few arrows, then promptly turned their griffins to return.

"My goodness!" Liu Zhenhan put down his Eagle Eye Telescopic Glass, smacked his lips.

Now that the wind had stopped, the visibility was extremely clear. He had clearly seen that during the griffin riders’ dive, metallic columns suddenly appeared out of nowhere in Yale Oasis, rising about seven or eight meters high each, and about two arm-widths thick, topped with pyramid-shaped crowns embedded with shiny mirrors on all sides, glimmering like some odd-shaped street lamps.

These metallic columns were originally hidden behind the mud wall among palm and date trees, camouflaged by dense nets of branches and leaves. As the griffin riders approached, the columns shed their disguises, and the dozen silvery beams were emitted from the pyramid-shaped crowns of these columns. Liu Zhenhan saw someone standing on a crown, handling the mirror panels like operating a heavy machine gun, creating a crossfire.

This type of metallic column was truly strange, seemingly able to concentrate sunlight from the air and brew a beam for attacking, with a range Liu Zhenhan estimated to be no less than five hundred yards.

"What the hell are these things?" Liu Zhenhan snapped shut his Eagle Eye Telescopic Glass and turned to General Reyes beside him. "No matter, in one hour, deploy two divisions in a column formation, approach up to six hundred yards from the oasis, and be ready to attack at any moment!"

The intense and solemn sound of the cowhorn bugle immediately echoed throughout the entire sand dune.
