Chapter 99: Chapter 73 Annihilation_2

"I’m asking you one last time, will you let me go or not!"

"I must avenge Fa Ao! Anyone who tries to come close, to harm him... must die!"

Lola’s eyes were filled with coldness, distortion, and an almost pathological obsession. Yet her outburst again received no response except for the narrow window overhead, admitting daylight, continuing to close.

"Ah!!"

Thick and spikey vines grew from behind Lola, lashing out in a frenzy, attacking everything in sight.

After she continued her assault for a while...

"Boom!"

The room she was in suddenly began to shake violently, as if it would collapse and split open at any moment.

This, on the contrary, made Lola herself freeze for a moment, a look of surprise flashing across her face.

The next second, the prison-like room actually began to crumble, a leaf glittering with golden light rapidly flew towards Lola, and she instinctively caught it in her hand.

"Leave this place, Lola! No matter what you want to do, remember one thing—leave immediately, right now, the farther the better!"

The previously silent woman’s voice sounded again, this time with a gravity and urgency Lola had never heard in her memory.

Lola looked on in astonishment as the vines that had bound her quickly retracted and then whistled towards the ceiling.

The daylight pouring in from outside was now completely tainted a blood-red color.

Chaos and noise followed, and Lola quickly became emotionally stirred upon seeing the dense blood-red that blocked out the sun, and... the familiar dark green figures fiercely colliding with it.

The sudden freedom, along with the unexpected crisis and chaos, left Lola momentarily at a loss as to what direction her next steps should take.

But soon enough, her brief respite from madness and paranoia was once again swept back over her.

Lola’s gaze hardened, her eyes filled with intense resentment and murderous intent, as she, guided by intuition, locked onto a direction. With a low howl, she transformed into a blurred green shadow, quickly disappearing into the sky.

"Despicable vermin... die!"

Meanwhile, amidst the chaos in the Academy, two figures shuddered and looked up at the sky, as if receiving some command, unhesitatingly abandoning the battlefield to pursue the retreating figure of Lola.

....

"Do you really think someone from a backwater Wizard Land like yours deserves to possess the Nephilim’s Key?"

"Scram!"

"Boom!—"

The blood-red clouds covering the sky collided fiercely with the dark green vines as gigantic as sky-reaching pythons. Countless vines tore and stirred within the blood clouds, the residual energy from the spells clashing like massive whips, harshly lashing against the ground, creating wide cracks, whipping up fierce gales, and the explosions and the angry screams of women intermingled....

Ronan looked upon the catastrophic scene before him, his scalp tingling, and without hesitation, he turned to run swiftly in the direction away from the fray.

This was a battle between higher-level powerful wizards; even though he was now a Level 1 Official Wizard, he had no place participating.

In fact, Ronan had already seen several Official Wizards from the Academy fall under the devastating attacks from the blood-red clouds that broke through the Rune Formations.

It wasn’t just the mysterious person controlling the blood-red clouds; a large number of Black Robes of Official Wizard Level had also rushed in, with skirmishes and battles breaking out everywhere. The entire Academy had turned into a battlefield....

"First, distance myself from the center of the turmoil, then consider whether to come back after things have calmed down..."

As Ronan ran, ideas rapidly spun in his mind.

He had no intention of ’standing with the Academy through adversity’, he had just been promoted, hadn’t even learned a single First Rank Magic, and with his current state, joining a full-scale conflict of Official Wizard Level would be unwise.

Moreover, he didn’t have much of a sense of belonging to the Academy.

Hoddam Academy had always maintained a superior stance over all Lower-level Wizards, treating Wandering Wizards as cannon fodder, driving them like cattle and horses. After joining the Academy, Ronan was also snubbed due to his aptitude issues...

Like he once said, he joined the Academy for the sole purpose of inheriting the status of an Official Wizard.

But he hadn’t even obtained this inheritance yet, and they wanted him to die with the Academy in solidarity?

Madness.

Ronan moved quickly across the ground, his long black robe and grey-white hair trailing behind.

With the Rune Formation above the Academy shattered and the Mist that enveloped it dispersed, Ronan left the Academy to see that the surrounding town was also in chaos, although no traces of Black Robes were visible, just the massive disturbances caused by Wandering Grey Robes panicked by the attack on the Academy.

Just like the chaos he had experienced that night.

"Why did the Silent Forest suddenly launch an attack on the Academy?

With the power to directly breach the Array and strike at the heart, how has this battle been able to continue for half a year?"

"And what is the Nephilim’s Key?"

Many questions flashed through Ronan’s mind, but at this moment, there was no one to answer them, and he had no time to seek answers.

Pushing his doubts aside, Ronan quickly slipped into an empty house.

Inside, he hastily removed the Academy’s standard Magic Robe and put on the most ordinary Grey Robe, then disguised as a Wandering Wizard, walked out the door, trying to blend into the fleeing crowd to leave town.

But after only a few steps, Ronan sensed something was off.

The area around him within a certain radius was deserted, as everyone preferred to squeeze together rather than come too close to him, all of them either with frightened or awe-struck expressions purposely avoiding him.
