Chapter 93: Chapter 71: Welcome to the World of Mist! - 2

"So much Magic Beast meat has been ingested, it should be enough..."

The purpose of Body Forging is to invigorate the Life Force to withstand the burning of the God Burning Potion. Ronan felt that his physique had almost reached its limit, as recently consuming Magic Beast Meat gave him a feeling of being so full of energy that it might burst forth.

"Success or failure, today will decide!"

"Boom!"

Ronan threw a fierce punch, heavily striking an ancient tree thick enough to be embraced by one person.

The spot where it was hit burst open, the trunk splintered, and ultimately unable to bear the load, it groaned and fell, raising a cloud of shattered snow.

Ronan walked past expressionlessly, his Grey Robe slightly lifted by the breeze from his strides.

"...If I fail to break through, you’ll be responsible for retrieving my body.

Please send my inheritance to these people..."

On the grass by the dormitory entrance, Ronan spoke in a low voice to his neighbor Doby, the only person in the academy whom he could as yet call an acquaintance.

Doby stood in front of him, pale-faced, shrinking like a quail with his legs trembling continuously.

Ronan felt a helpless frustration, for now, without even intentionally emitting the spiritual power fluctuations of a Level 9 Apprentice, just his formidable physique supplemented by tearing apart so many Advanced Demonic Beasts had formed an intimidating presence enough to reduce intermediate and low-level wizard apprentices to shivering wrecks.

After giving brief instructions, Ronan handed Doby a piece of paper with several names, and then turned resolutely back into his dorm.

Watching Ronan’s figure disappear, poor Doby, heart trembling, vigorously wiped the cold sweat from his forehead.

He couldn’t fathom what had happened to this Level 9 Apprentice neighbor of his, who had "evolved" into a human-bear hybrid in just a few months!

It was unheard of that apprentices needed to train their physique before being promoted to Official Wizard.

Doby glanced at the names on the paper, shook his head, confused, and hurried away.

...

[If I unfortunately die...]

Barely starting, Ronan snapped the feather pen in his hand, then tore up the "will" he had been preparing to write into shreds.

"Screw arranging for what comes after.. If I die, everything afterwards has nothing to do with me anymore. Why should I care..."

Ronan sat expressionlessly at his desk, quietly watching the scenery outside the window.

Winter was passing, the sunshine was just right, the Ivy on the windowsill grew denser, presenting a scene brimming with vitality.

Yet, Ronan could not predict his own fate.

He closed his eyes and exhaled a breath.

When he reopened them, his lake-blue eyes held only the deepest calm.

Five bottles of God Burning Potion, red like agates, stood silently on the desk.

With the resources available, Ronan decided not to use the one given by Angelie.

He was now ready to make a breakthrough to Official Wizard, at any moment.

With resolution set, even though he knew there was a high chance that the path ahead was a dead one, Ronan felt very tranquil.

He picked up a bottle of God Burning Potion, opened it, and consumed...

Holding the cold potion in his palm, once ingested, it turned searing as magma, sliding down Ronan’s throat into his stomach and transformed into roaring "Flames", completely "igniting" Ronan!

Pain!

Unprecedented, intense pain!

Ronan’s facial skin twitched violently, then he forcibly endured it.

This pain was starkly different from that suffered during Ascetic Body Refinement. It originated not from his body or mind, but reached his soul.

Ronan felt as if he could sense something inside his body being burnt away with crackling sounds.

It included impurities... and elements of his soul itself.

Ronan’s robust physique quickly shriveled, the previously overflowing robust vitality rapidly receding...

Yet the transformation of his Qi Hua spiritual power stubbornly refused to occur.

Seeing the "burning" sensation of the soul fading, Ronan knew his first attempt at a breakthrough had failed.

Or rather, this "burning" was far from the minimum standard needed for the ascendance of the soul.

Ronan opened his eyes, now in the Clear Sky Realm, his eyes as blue as stars, and with a Master’s mentality, he constantly controlled the optimal timing for a breakthrough and always maintained a mindset unaffected by pain or the fear of death.

He quickly unscrewed a second bottle of God Burning Potion, swallowed it, and the burning sensation swept over him again, even more tumultuous than before...

The second time, still not enough.

He consumed the third bottle of God Burning Potion...

Then the fourth...

Then the fifth...

Ronan had forgotten how many attempts he had made, how much pain he had endured.

The difficulty of breaking through to become an Official Wizard was linked to the quality of the soul, and the level of pain experienced during the process was similarly linked.

Those wizards with excellent soul quality likely only needed to feel a slight burn to smoothly complete the breakthrough.

But Ronan was different.

The pain he endured...

Was bone-deep, a hundred times more than ordinary people!

"Not enough... still not minimal enough..."

Ronan murmured softly, reaching out to grab another bottle of God Burning Potion.

However, this grab unexpectedly came up empty.

He opened his eyes, gazing steadily at the five empty bottles scattered haphazardly on the table.

Looking at his own hand, it was shriveled and gaunt, the skin clinging to the bones like sun-dried citrus peel, with only a thin layer of muscle adhering in between.

A tremendous feeling of weakness and powerlessness surged over him like a tide.

He lowered his head, his hair at the temples falling, withered and gray like straw.
