Chapter 178: Chapter 105 Space and Mirror, Mysterious Garden_2
But before further exploration could be undertaken, a crisis erupted within, forcing an abrupt retreat...
The ponytail witch led the way while describing the situation to Ronan.
"What is the function of this mirror magic tool? Does it induce the wave of flames you released before?"
Ronan frowned and said, "But the core rune inside the magic tool doesn’t seem to be a rune for fire magic..."
"That’s a spell sealed in later."
The ponytail witch quickly explained, "The effect of this magic tool is to seal spells and then, when necessary, they can be released again with just the guidance of spiritual power... The fire magic you saw was left by a genius Level 2 wizard of our First Magic Ring, who had grasped the Extraordinary Magic Realm of the Fire Element, so it’s no surprise it was so powerful..."
The ponytail witch said this with a look of regret, "Actually, when the magic tool was first discovered, several spells were already sealed inside, all of them space-related, each more mysterious and powerful than the last... Unfortunately, they were all used up during our retreat from the crisis..."
"Space-related spells..."
Ronan murmured with a thoughtful light in his eyes before asking the ponytail witch:
"What kind of crisis was it, to be so terrifying?"
"A kind of monster."
The ponytail witch said with a serious expression, "It’s hard to describe, something like an energy creature born from mirror attribute and space-related magic, very strong, at least not something a Level 1 wizard can handle."
Ronan nodded and said no more.
The two flew in silence for a while, then the ponytail witch couldn’t help but initiate conversation.
"My name is Fuling. I’ve always been unaware of your name?"
"Ronan. Ronan Damien."
Ronan replied tersely.
The wind whistled past from both sides, and though the ponytail witch was supposed to be leading the way, Ronan found himself unconsciously in the lead.
He felt a gaze constantly fixed on his cheek, stealthily longing.
Ronan turned his head and saw the ponytail witch staring at him in a daze.
"What’s wrong?"
Ronan reached out to touch his cheek, "Is there something on my face?"
The ponytail witch shook her head, and then, as if mustering courage, spoke shyly, "I think you now are like a silent gemstone, while before... you were a shining star."
Ronan’s eyes flickered, his lips pursed slightly, and he turned his head away.
"Quite a nice metaphor."
The ponytail witch saw Ronan’s reaction, her face showing disappointment, and she silently flew up to him, speaking no more.
The pair flew for some time, eventually landing in a flat, open grassland.
On the grassland was a small lake, its water as calm and bright as a mirror.
The instant the ponytail witch landed, she began to ponder and search, leading Ronan around the lake. Eventually, she stopped by a clump of reeds blooming with reed flowers.
"Right here."
The ponytail witch pointed to the water’s surface in front of her, saying, "This entrance is tricky, it periodically drifts around, but never strays from the lake’s bounds. Searching for it is always a bit of an effort..."
Ronan squinted, extending his spiritual power to observe and probe the water’s surface closely.
The water was still, shadowed from direct sunlight by the reeds, with a few long-legged spiders skimming its surface and the occasional reed flower falling.
As soon as the spiritual power penetrated beneath the water, a faint ripple of spatial energy particles transmitted, and then the spiritual power vanished, as though swallowed by something.
The ponytail witch was right; there indeed was an entrance to a Secret Realm Space here.
Separated by mere water, yet the entrance is concealed almost without trace—this technique was inconceivable, much more sophisticated than any Secret Realm entrance Ronan had ever seen.
"The Mirror Court truly lives up to its reputation as a master of controlling mirror attribute and space-related magic..."
This was the "magic" technique in spells.
"How did you originally discover this entrance?"
Ronan asked offhand, and the reply he got was that a member of their group had an upset stomach and ran to the lake to relieve himself, then accidentally found the entrance...
"Except for me, Barbus, and a few others, probably no one else could find this entrance again..."
The ponytail witch murmured with a hint of melancholy.
Ronan didn’t bother with meaningless words like "Wouldn’t bringing me here secretly and exposing this secret cause the teammates to blame you?" Instead, he directly asked the Ponytail Witch to lead the way.
Although he believed that the other party was unlikely to harm him, it was still necessary to maintain a sense of precaution.
The Ponytail Witch didn’t waste words either. She wrapped her body in a Spiritual Field and stepped directly into the lake with one foot.
Without any sound of water splashing, not even a ripple formed, and just like that, she disappeared silently from Ronan’s view.
Ronan stood in place and waited quietly for a while. Not detecting any abnormalities, he then followed.
"Woosh—"
The light shifted, as if awakening from a dream.
By the time Ronan’s vision stabilized once more, he had arrived in a different place.
It was a small, sunny garden bathed in warm golden light, with the scent of flowers and earth permeating the air.
Beneath his feet was a lush, verdant lawn filled with purple lavender and pink geraniums. In the center of the garden was a small fountain, and in a corner grew an apple tree, its branches laden with unripe sour fruits.
The scenery was wonderfully peaceful, yet Ronan could not sense any trace of reality.
Despite the golden sunlight on his face, he felt no warmth, nor could he hear the sound of insects and birds chirping.
The entire garden... was eerily quiet.
"We found the mirror right over there..."
The voice of the Ponytail Witch reached his ears; she was a few steps away from Ronan, having entered before him.
At this moment, she seemed quite tense, and as she pointed in a direction for Ronan, she looked around vigilantly, like a rabbit, without daring to move a foot.
Following the direction indicated by the Ponytail Witch, Ronan’s eyes suddenly widened in shock.
Only then did he notice a small wicker chair in a corner of the garden. Beside it was a white table with exquisite tea sets steaming with heat.
In addition to that, there were a few indistinct items quietly placed on the table.
The specific spot the Ponytail Witch pointed to was on the lawn about a few meters away from the wicker chair. Upon closer inspection, it indeed seemed like a contour imprint pressed by an oval object.
Ronan’s eyes flickered, and he strolled calmly toward the direction of the wicker table and chairs.
"Be careful!"
The Ponytail Witch’s anxious voice rang beside his ear. Ronan turned to see her looking completely on guard.
It was apparent that she was truly worried for Ronan, but even so, she refused to move forward even by half a step.
Ronan eased her with a reassuring glance. Beneath his Magic Robe, his hands were naturally lowered, with metal and silver mist flowing between them, forming two silver short swords.
"There likely won’t be any danger before we reach the Mirror Magic Tool," thought Ronan, but he did not relax his guard. He walked steadily towards his target, step by step.
The golden sunlight seemed to shine from all directions, casting shifting shadows around him.
As he delved deeper, Ronan felt increasingly the strangeness of this mysterious garden.
He did not feel any slight changes in environmental lighting, temperature, humidity, or the flow of scents; everything around him remained as beautiful as before, yet it left an impression of "dead silence," an unreal sensation.
It was as if looking at an image reflected in a mirror — appearing very real, but in fact devoid of any signs of life.
As Ronan approached the place where the Mirror Magic Tool was discovered, suddenly, "Crack—"
It was as if he bumped into something solid yet fragile, and a sound like a mirror shattering echoed by his ear.
Then, a strange transparent angle appeared in the air in front of him, as if a mirror was being folded.
Before Ronan could react to his next step, his vision blurred, and when he recovered, he found himself surrounded by lavender and geraniums.
The distance to the target, the white table, and wicker chair... had suddenly become incredibly far.
"Space Transmission means?"
Ronan frowned and was about to try taking another step forward when, suddenly, the Ponytail Witch’s anxious cry came from afar.
"Ronan! Watch out behind you!"
Ronan whipped his head around, his pupils contracting sharply.
Reflected in his lake-blue eyes was a scene of a lush and beautiful flower bed, and there seemed to be an invisible humanoid creature slowly struggling to emerge from it, leaving a distorted trail in the air reminiscent of a moving mirror, and then...
It charged straight towards him!
