Blood Nemesis
Chapter 181: Trap 3

Chapter 181: Trap 3

’Was the golden mana special? Is it more lethal towards untouchable and illusory enemies?’

Oliver wondered while jumping away.

As the agility-type superhuman stood frozen, he pulled the tentacles back into his body and observed the corpse.

The half-incorporeal body of the superhuman who was melting into the shadow from his legs flickered and became real.

The darkness covering his whole body slipped past, revealing a fountain of blood splurting from his neck.

’For sure, he is dead.’

There was no doubt about it.

Without the revive ability similar to what Oliver had, no one would survive that.

Oliver had destroyed the spine, brain stem and lower brain.

Not even the current technology, which can heal almost any wound with enough time, can heal that.

The shadow user died without even knowing what happened.

’Awesome! I never thought it had a property like that.’ Oliver looked at the golden mana flickering over his arm and said to himself.

’Shadow users stand no chance against me if I can take them by surprise.’

’Maybe, the golden mana is its natural enemy.’

’When you think about it, golden mana is basically pure energy and light. It makes sense.’

’Maybe, the same attack will work against spectres too.’

’Hm...’ Oliver smiled. ’I can be a modern exorcist if I want.’

He thought and looked to the side.

The agility-type superhuman was panicking. He didn’t know how Oliver killed his companion.

Frowning, he closed in on the corpse.

However, before Oliver could make sense of what was happening, he grabbed the wounded neck and plunged his palm inside.

Twisting his hand inside the wound, he pulled out a squirming lump of flesh and placed it inside his coat.

’A demon?’ Oliver raised his eyebrow.

The lump of flesh was a demon. When the host died, it reformed into a demon seed.

*Scoff*

"You were a demon! Now, everything makes sense." Oliver shouted, his voice piercing the darkness around them.

"Are you working with the stupid general? Does he even know you are demons?" He inquired, stepping forward.

The agile superhuman’s face twisted into a scowl.

Without replying, he pulled out a glass bottle and poured the liquid over the corpse.

The green liquid sizzled and smoked as it fell onto the flesh.

Like a highly corrosive acid, it ate away the corpse, releasing noxious fumes.

The agile superhuman lit a paper and threw it into the gas.

Immediately, the gas caught on fire, burning with a greenish colour.

’They brought a corpse-dissolving liquid. Were they intending to eliminate me?’

The demon seemed to have been prepared to kill Oliver if he resisted.

The corpse-dissolving liquid was a mana-based protein dissolver. It was a one-of-a-kind item developed by the villains to eradicate evidence from a crime scene.

"Mr. Demon, are you planning to tuck your tail and run? Do you think I will let you leave?" Oliver asked and ran forward.

He showed intent to hold back the demon for a few more seconds, until his backup arrived.

However, the demon had other plans.

Despite initially trying its best to hold back revealing its full strength, it used every mana in its body to dash in the opposite direction.

A strategic retreat was the only option it could think of.

"NO, you won’t," Oliver shouted, the golden armour on him shining brighter.

The demon sensed the radiating aura, gritted its teeth and ran faster.

Within seconds, it disappeared from the abandoned building.

Oliver, on the other hand, stood firm, not moving an inch.

’It worked.’

’Dumbass...Who in their right mind would chase after a demon?’

Deception was inside Oliver’s blood. Anything he said and did couldn’t be believed.

Although he posed like he would chase after the demon, he didn’t do so.

It was all just an act to deceive his enemy.

’I don’t have the mana to chase after him. And most importantly, I won’t be able to kill an A-rankers in my current condition.’

’Chasing after him is practically snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.’

’At least, I killed one.’ Oliver was satisfied.

And from what he knew, there was plenty of evidence left to link them to the pot-bellied general and his subordinates.

Proving they were demons might not be possible because the corpse was destroyed.

But the remaining DNA evidence was enough to link it to the general.

’As I thought, the pot-bellied baldy was the bitch of the demons.’

Oliver thought and looked up at the sky.

Immediately, he saw a flying car appear in the sky. The bright spotlight from it beamed to the ground, pointing at him.

Oliver lifted his hand and waved.

Noticing he was standing next to a green blaze, waving his hand, the one piloting the vehicle realised the situation was not as urgent as they imagined.

The flying car hovered in the air and slowly descended to the top of the building.

Oliver walked up to it and peered into the open door.

"Hm...Achara, you again? Thunder Gramps also came?"

Oliver saw two people stepping outside.

"Good evening, both of you." Oliver retrieved the golden armour back into his body while dissipating the leftover mana.

"Where is the enemy?" The thunder emperor walked up to Oliver and asked.

Oliver pointed at the green blaze, crackling to the side. Vaguely, they could see the silhouette of bones inside, burning with a greenish blue colour.

Most of the tissue seemed to have burned into nothing, leaving only the hard bones and bubbling flesh.

"Corpse dissolving liquid was used." Oliver pinched his nose and said.

The wind switched direction, and a stench similar to burned tires assaulted his nose as he spoke.

"You killed someone?" Achara raised a brow.

Oliver nodded.

"Yes. But it wasn’t a person." He added.

"Were they not the subordinates of the general?"

"Yes. But they were also demons. I killed one accidentally. The remaining one used the corpse dissolving powder and disappeared in that direction."

Oliver pointed at the city lights on the far horizon, which were barely visible.

"That son of bitch." Taking both Achara and Oliver by surprise, the Thunder Emperor cursed. "He doesn’t even know the demons are using him." He rubbed his forehead.

Then he turned to Oliver and asked, "You don’t have any proof they are demons, right?"

Oliver shook his head.
