BLOOD LEGACIES -

Chapter 99: Covenstead {2}
The stares fixated on me were accumulating more than I could bear, my cheeks heated and my gaze locked to the ground, and yet I still felt their burning stares, I felt like I wasn’t supposed to be here, well it could be because of my outfit’s the only color but Owen was on too, but they know him and not me, maybe this was a bad idea?
"Only the families belonging to Witch blood attend here" Owen still resumed the talks hardly not noticing the stares, he was cool but I wasn’t, my nerves were already becoming agitated as time passed by. I couldn’t resist my shaky breath and my body fidgeting so I was forced to tuck on his shirt hoping to gain his attention.
He halted before me and twirled with a smile but they seemed to fade when he noticed my reddening face.
"C-Can we go somewhere..." my attempts to speak boldly were now slipping, well if it was just me and the cycle of people I know that wasn’t a problem but now it was.
He narrowed his eyes, it seems I would have to explain more than that.
"Private" I bit my lip, it took a moment before he finally noticed my nerves.
"Sure sure, okay" he led me away from the class.
"Sorry I forgot you don’t do good in crowds"
"It’s okay"
"If you wanna go home then fine" he offered.
I paused for a minute to meet his eyes and he didn’t seem like he was joking, he seemed really ready to take me home.
"W-Well I haven’t seen the garden yet," I said with a faint smile. Owen has gone out of his way to take me out to explore his home, I should make up for it and not be a jerk. That was the least I could do, I knew how excited he was to show me around his home, he had never ceased smiling when we came here.
"Are you sure?"
I stroke a nod. "Y-Yes"
A breathtaking smile found his lips, one I couldn’t resist, I couldn’t help but gawk at him like an idiot like my mouth slightly ajar, he really was handsome.
"Then let’s go," he said with a nudge of his head.
I smiled once again walking beside him.
"You know I was working on something"
"You mean like a spell or what?"
"Hmm more like my element"
"Your element?" I blinked, he really needed to elaborate more on that.
His amber eyes were back on me. "Witches are born with elements"
I huffed. "You mean like the Avatar" I mused.
He snickered. "You can say that"
"So what are you, Zuko?"
He chuckled once again. "More like Toph, my element is earth"
"The blind boulder then, well in your case you aren’t blind so the boulder then" I teased.
He took a minute like he was thinking about the name, which was quite amusing, there was seriously nothing to think about so I giggled.
"You watch too many cartoons"
I shrugged. "Who doesn’t?"
He flicked my glasses with his finger and his actions reminded me of Dace, my smile slowly faded, and things I was hoping not to think about drowned my memory, I started feeling exhausted, just thinking about it did that to me.
"You okay?" he was quick to notice my change of mood.
"Y-Y-Yeah so are we there yet?" I quickly said.
He nods still skeptical. My eyes darted to the garden, it was really beautiful.
"Is it always this loud?" I asked, hearing the multiple birds chirping.
"Yeah always, but also the best place to learn spells, makes you concentrate better"
I would disagree with that, I have never studied in a noisy environment before, nothing will sink in at all, so I better not try that but it seems to work for Owen, maybe this was his space or center where he concentrates better, I couldn’t help the fluttering feeling that found my chest, it was nice knowing more about Owen, it felt like there was a hidden part of him I didn’t know before, I always saw him as the school guy friend but now I saw him as something more, he listens and understand but also annoying in many ways, but that was just Owen Sherman, and I did notice a sense of responsibility coming from him, it was hard to miss out but it does seem that was part of him.
I have never been responsible in ways that I see in Owen, maybe it was something different, I couldn’t help the urge to find out what it means.
"And here"
My eyes darted to a book on a stone.
"Is that..."
"Yes... a Grimoire"
I shrugged. "It looks just like a normal book to me"
"Well, I’m the only one who can read and see the spells, just like founding Juneau for instance"
"Oh," I suddenly remembered that encounter. He took a sit and tapped the space next to him and I sat, slightly feeling uncomfortable that I was this close to him.
"A-About that..."
"Yeah, I figured you would ask" his gaze became more serious now. "We had a meeting with the head family and..."
"And?"
"We can’t find the intruder and the reason why the barrier was weakened but they are still looking into it and making sure nothing like that happens again"
I nodded taking in everything he said.
"Don’t worry, everything will be fine" he assured me, noticing I have tautened again, well it was mostly because I have seen the intruder, but in my dream, I was yet to tell anyone about that.
"D-Did they say anything about Dace?" I asked dimly.
He raised an eyebrow. "You mean your relationship with a werelion"
I blushed. "Y-You don’t need to put it like that"
He sighed. "Even though you don’t have witch blood, Emma, you’re still an Adams which means one of us," He said it with so much effort that it made my heart slam a beat.
What he uttered next wasn’t exactly the cheering words I was hoping for.
"The head family won’t take it likely if you further your relationship with a Werelion"
