Chapter 530: Happy Endings

EMMA

~

The Morelock Clan. I wish that was the only thing I needed to think about after Grayson told me about everything. But the pregnancy test kit in front of me troubled me.

It came back positive. All five of them!

I exhaled sharply, burying my face in my hands. I jolted when my phone chimed, and I grabbed it from the sink beside me.

It was Grayson.

Grayson: Hey, we’re almost there, don’t cut the turkey without me!

I smiled. The damn thing was still in the oven. Grayson had officially become a slave to our mom’s cooking. I really wish I had her cooking charms.

It’s a good thing Dace does, he’s my own personal chef, and my life as his official wife would be total bliss.

I froze the moment my brain processed that. Really Emma? You haven’t given him an answer!

My phone chimed again.

Grayson: Please tell me you didn’t touch that turkey during the process. Tell me now, and I’ll drive right back and enjoy this day without vomiting my entire stomach.

My face turned red as I typed quickly.

Me: FUCK YOU!!!!

I sighed, forcing myself to stand from the toilet seat. I discarded the test kit in the trash and stepped out of my bathroom into my old room.

My nerves skyrocketed when I thought about today. My mom, being the amazing host she was, invited Dace’s family too.

I told her about Dace’s proposal and to my surprise, she was so happy she almost busted my eardrums with her screech. I told her I hadn’t given an answer, and she just laughed it off.

She simply told me that I was just stalling. Was I? She made it seem like our marriage was already set in stone.

Speaking of stones, I had the ring with me and I was carrying it everywhere like a second skin.

The knock on the door pulled my attention. My mom stepped in with a smile on her lips.

She was really happy about today. She took the day off just for this and made it her mission to bring everyone together. And I mean everyone. She even invited Landon.

My mom suddenly acted like an Adams, a peacemaker. It caused warmth to find my chest. Vanessa will be proud.

"So the Shermans are here, and Landon. I’m still getting used to how pale he is, I need to ask about his skin routine." She whispered the last part to me.

I giggled. "Mom, I don’t think his skin routine has anything to do with that."

"Yeah, I know." She waved off with a light laugh but paused when she observed me closely.

I have to hand it to my mom for noticing every single thing about me.

"What’s wrong, honey, you okay?" She rubbed my arms. "Is this too much? Having a full house for Thanksgiving? I know you still want to stall, maybe I shouldn’t have invited the Devereauxs."

"No, it’s fine. Trust me." I paused as a smile tugged on my lips. "I need that push, and you’re making that possible. I can’t keep stalling forever."

"But something tells me that’s not what’s on your mind."

"I’m late, Mom," I confessed. "The test came back positive."

She gasped, covering her mouth, and her eyes trembled as the tears fell freely.

"Mom?"

She hugged me before I could say anything else. "Oh my god!" She wrapped her arms tightly around me. "I’m so happy. You’re finally getting the happiness you deserve!" She cupped my cheeks. "There is no need to be afraid. This is good news, and I’m sure Dace will be thrilled."

"I’m scared, Mom," I admitted. "The last time I got everything I could ever want, I had it ripped out of me. Something always gets in the way."

She narrowed her eyes. "Is this why you stalled?"

I nodded.

"Oh, honey, it’s okay to be scared, but look at it this way. Everything you have been through has been so heartbreaking. But now you don’t need to go through all that again, you know why?"

I shook my head.

"Because," she sobbed, holding my hand tightly. "You’re stronger, and it’s time for your happy ending, and trust me when I say I’ll be here for every moment, I’ll fight any evil just so you get that future you deserve."

"I want him, Mom," I cried. "I want everything."

"And you have it, don’t let yourself doubt for once that you can’t. Be strong, and I promise you everything will be alright."

I nodded tightly and embraced her once again.

Our guests arrived, and we had a full house. Hayden, Owen, Grayson, Emilia, Landon, and Camilie.

I set up a meeting between Dace and his mom a few days ago, lying about being at a diner, just so he could meet her there instead.

Their relationship was up to a rocky start, but Emilia told me time would tell, but so far it had been smooth.

Dace was the only person missing. Talks filled the table, but I didn’t join in.

I kept looking at the door, hoping for him to emerge somehow, but each time I got disappointed.

’Come upstairs, baby girl.’

I froze when I heard Dace’s voice in my head. How? And then realization struck me. It was the mate bond.

In a heartbeat, I stood to my feet, unnoticed by everyone. I hurried up the stairs and rushed to my room door, prying it open.

My window was open, and the curtains danced in the strong wind. There, Dace stood with folded arms.

It was all deja vu, back in high school when he always snuck into my room just to be with me.

The core memory that stood out the most was when I invited him into my room for the first time.

"I’m pretty sure the dreamcatcher’s working."

He smiled, turned his gaze to the charm piece dangling on my window. "Too bad it doesn’t work anymore. I’m no longer unwanted."

’My ring looks good on you.’

His voice came to my head again. I froze.

"Tell me, were you planning on surprising me by wearing it today?"

I sank my teeth into my bottom lip. I raised my hand where the ring was placed. "Yes, Alexander."

Before I could blink, Dace was in front of me, picking me up gently as I wrapped my arms around his neck and we kissed.

"But you’re the one with the most surprise, I can hear you in my head."

"Never doubt the mate bond, baby girl. Especially when it’s forged by two people who defied all odds just to be together."

I giggled. "Then let me make this crazier." I kissed him again, this time faster and hotter, until we were both moaning.

I trailed kisses to his cheeks and leaned closer to his ear. "I’m pregnant."

His entire body went still, and a giggle fled from me when he spun me around before settling me on my feet.

"So I take it that you’re happy?"

"I’m sorry if I can’t conjure enough emotion to show you how much I feel," he said breathlessly.

I placed my hands on his chest, it was racing. "You don’t need to; all I need is this."

A light sparkled in his golden hazel. "I love you, always."

I stood, clenching my bouquet tightly.

It’s happening.

And I was a wreck of nerves. Thankfully, the white veil covering my face made me feel a little bit at ease.

My wedding felt like a theme out of a fairy tale book. I told Dace I wanted something simple, but he wanted me to have my dream wedding.

Since I was a little girl, I wanted a wedding like the books I read, and it came true.

The more I started at the doors, the more I realized how much my life would change forever. But the funny thing was, I wasn’t afraid of it. I just needed the courage to face it.

Feeling a strong arm grabbing mine, I turned and found Grayson standing beside me, dashing in his perfectly tailored suit.

"Are you ready, sis?"

"I want to run."

He chuckled, the sound forcing a smile on my lips. "It’s okay to feel that way, Emilia called it wedding jitters."

"Jitters or not, I can’t go through with this alone." I gripped his biceps tightly.

"I know," he said softly. "Which is why I’m here to walk you down that aisle."

I tried so hard not to cry and mess up my mascara. I sobbed instead, turning away. "You’ll make me ruin my makeup."

"I’m sure Dace wouldn’t mind," he teased.

Suddenly, the music played, and the majestic doors spread open. I swallowed thickly as the bright light almost blinded me.

"Don’t make me fall," I said in a shaky voice.

"Never," Grayson promised.

And together we stepped into the future, and trust me when I say it had never been brighter. And for the first time in my life. I found happiness.

Everyone deserves a happy ending, even you.
