BLOOD LEGACIES
Chapter 402: Cookie Dough Monster

Chapter 402: Cookie Dough Monster

"Hmmm this is so good" I moaned each time the cookie dough melted on my taste buds. It felt like I hadn’t had anything for years, another side effect. "This tastes so good, you should try this, I’m willing to share"

Emilia stared at my outstretched hand with a questioning look and then at the empty cups of cookie dough I just finished in an hour scattered on the floor.

"O...kay, I think it would have been much less mortifying if these were bags of blood, And yet you... a vampire drowning in cookie dough" she nods. "Maybe I should consider therapy because this is hard to believe"

I chuckled but the pain shot me back to my throat and I rubbed the bandage now wrapped around my neck and I swallowed.

"When are you gonna tell me what happened? You said Dace didn’t do this then who did?"

"It doesn’t matter," I shrugged.

"I can feel how cold you are right now, it taking over my warmth, I know Vampires are cold beings but yet again this is abnormal"

I chuckled again.

"Will you stop that?"

"Sorry," I said giggly as I shoved another spoon of cookie dough in my mouth. "It’s just nice"

"Nice what?"

I sighed heavily. "I don’t know I was kidnapped and brought into a mansion of creatures that despise me like a second skin, it’s nice you ask about me"

Something that resembled a flash of sadness covered her eyes but she quickly cleared her throat to cover it up.

Hmm... like brother like sister, except their approach was way different in masking emotions. The brother doesn’t even need them to function.

"You know it’s nice too" she began in a heavy tone. "I can’t remember the last time I was worried about anyone aside from my mom, I don’t know like four years ago or something"

The cookie dough in my mouth suddenly turned foul and I just forced myself to swallow the now bitter taste. "Don’t you worry about your brother? He’s family isn’t he?"

She laughed, a dry less humorous laughter. "Yeah sure family... that word is overrated, I don’t remember the last time I considered him one"

"H-He hurt you?" I shook just at the mere thought of it, I mean Dace can hurt as many vampires because of his hatred and do unspeakable things but to his sister, his blood?

"I think he did when he ripped my father’s heart right in front of my mother. I can still hear her screams and the call of his name, it haunts me every night"

My body ran cold.

She chuckled again. "I mean it was inevitable, what my father did to Dace was unspeakable, he turned him into a monster because he just wanted to unite our lost tribe, it’s crazy saying this out loud. But Dace..." she shook her head. "He had every option not to display his madness in front of my mother. To have your very Male and Husband get killed right before your eyes by your own son, that broke her to the point she lost her sanity"

"I’m sorry"

"It’s not your fault"

It is... it was all my fault, I broke Dace’s humanity. But I don’t say that.

"I can’t believe I’m even telling you this" She faces me with an emotion in her eyes that seemed all too familiar.

I forced the best smile I could. "I don’t believe it either"

"You’re not like other vampires" She nods as if trying to comprehend that theory herself. "But that doesn’t mean I like you or trust you"

"I can work with that"

"Yeah, whatever" she rose to her feet. "Need more cookie dough? Because you already finished a handful it’s only right you finish the last two"

"Yes please" I grinned.

~

"Are you sure about this?"

I shrugged. "Yeah"

She huffed. "You’re crazy"

"Maybe"

"Emmaline!" she snapped. "You can’t seriously be thinking of attending the engagement, I mean right in the midst of all those werelions you will be like a damn beacon!"

"I know, which is a more reason to attend"

"You’re unbelievable, Dace will explode"

"What? He said I’m his guest right? Isn’t it rude that he didn’t invite me to his own engagement?" I went back to check for something to wear.

"Ugh, why won’t you listen to me?!"

Because staying in this room knowing that my first love is about to be betrothed to HER is more death-breaking than actually attending. But I don’t say that. I’m trying to keep up the facade that I’m just an ignorant Countess, or maybe she knew I wanted to stir trouble.

Maybe I will and it will be so satisfying to see the look of dread on Dace’s face, at least some sort of emotion on his deviously handsome face will be a score.

But right now I have Emilia breathing down my neck. The past two days I have spent with her have been so valuable to me even though she didn’t realize it the hole in my chest was more bearable, even though she kept her guard up most of the time.

"Emmaline"

"You don’t want me to go I get it" I faced her.

"Yes! That is the point, aside from that I think it best you sit this out you’re not-"

"Part of the family" I finished for her. There was an amusement to my tone.

"You’re a vampire" she corrected with clenched teeth.

"Fine," I said, walking to the bed and taking a seat. "I won’t go"

"Really?"

"Like you said I’m a vampire and it will be more hectic to go down there and interfere"

She gulped, her face distraught. "Good, please stay here, I will try to leave the party as soon as I can if you need the company"

"Don’t worry I will turn in for the night early, I’m exhausted" I said with a yawn. "For what it is worth it was nice getting under your skin"

"That was what this was? That’s it?"

"Of course what else would it be?"

She was about to say something but her eyes caught the clock. "Okay," she nods, walking to the door, taking one more look at me as if brooding over the idea of leaving me. Before she walked out of the room and shut the door behind her.

My smile faded like a mask being shattered.

Tiger appeared and posed on the bed beside me with a Cheshire grin.

"You’re going ain’t you?"

Sorry Emilia but I can’t just stay put, I have had enough of people trying to cage me, let me do something annoying, and get on a Dark Alpha’s nerves.

"Most certainly"
