BLOOD LEGACIES
Chapter 401: Go To Sleep

Chapter 401: Go To Sleep

I groaned, falling to the ground, luckily it was a padded mat, so it wasn’t hurting right now.

"Will you keep falling? My Countess?"

I forced my body up and faced the ever-smirking Luther, not even breaking a sweat, looking as collected as he always does, the only thing out of place was his messy ginger hair and the sparring outfit I wasn’t used to him wearing. He was always adored in the suit that made him look like the polished man he is... a polished man with a monster brewing inside him, covered by his occasional smirks and jovial attitude.

"No" My anger was short and simple as I came at him again.

"You don’t possess vampire speed, as a hybrid and a mystery as you are there is much to discover," he said cooly dodging my kicks and punches, as I frustratedly tried to get a hit at him. I spun and directed my leg to hit him square in the face, but he stopped it with just a hand keeping his amused gaze on me.

"You can’t always rely on your magic"

I growled pushing off him and coming at him again, it happened so fast, and suddenly I was on the ground with him on top of me with my hands above my head, my fierce breathing the only sound echoing in the room.

"Well this position looks familiar, except you didn’t have your hands above your head, you were trapped helpless" he leaned with every word and his breath washed against my features and his lips moved to my ear. "Just when I sank my fangs into your neck"

A cold chill ran through me and goosebumps creeped my skin. I pulled my head to the side as a resistance.

"Remember our deal, Luther, you have no right to my blood"

He chuckled at my words and I could feel it vibrate through my skin. "You and your deals, you aren’t giving me much credit, Emmaline"

"Emma" I corrected with clenched teeth.

He pulled away slightly until his obsidian eyes were on mine. "Emmaline," he said in a firm tone leaving no room for objection. "If you want to walk the future with me you have to abandon your past, everything and I mean everything that made you feel human once, your human side is gone"

I gulped at his words.

"My future is with you," I said.

A smile graced his lips. "You have to be strong Emmaline, you can’t control the future but you can live through it, not as the weak little human you’re... now"

I gasped when his other hand suddenly wrapped around my throat squeezing so hard that I was at a loss for breath.

"Do not breathe and let your organs go to sleep and be in control"

I struggled but he was too strong, I knew what this was but the fear of dying always got to me and it felt like I was drowning, back in that cold dark water as my life slowly faded.

I was alone

Cold

With nothing but golden eyes haunting my very existence, but right now it was obsidian ones.

"Focus"

His faint tone reached me as something that resembled death came for me and his very voice guided me at the glimpse of death and reminded me of my goal.

Focus... and go to sleep.

~

PRESENT

Focus!

I let my organs sleep and let the brief chilly numbness take me, the tight sensation on my neck prolonged until it was gone, everything was blank and nonexistent but I didn’t know how long. But I prayed it was long enough as I restarted my heart and gasped out of breath like I emerged from the very depths of the ocean.

Holding my chest as I tried to settle my breathing, my body shaking like I was cold, I’m cold but then again I’m always cold, this was just the aftereffect of what I did and it seemed like I did it too long.

It will take some time before I collect myself and my body movement, in trying to catch my breathing my eyes scanned the area and I realized I was alone.

The bastard killed me off and left me out here for ANYONE to find. Well too bad his little mission didn’t work.

In hesitation, I reached for my neck and winced in pain when I felt the wound there, possibly caused by the Rogue claws when he dug into my neck to strangle the life out of me. Ignoring my pathetic state I forced my shaky body up and sluggishly walked out of the unfamiliar place hoping to find my way.

And as if luck would have it I met no one in sight as I made my way to the areas I knew but I wasn’t going to be alone this time or else I might just end this miserable life myself.

No one deserves to go through what I did alone, even though it was for a little closure I will just have to find it.

I knocked on the door before me and after a while with no answer, I knocked again.

"Ugh! What?! It’s past midnight!"

I heard the sound of the light switch turning on and then the fiddle of the locks before the door opened and I met with familiar hazel eyes.

"You? What are you..." Emilia paused as her eyes slowly went wide and she looked me up and down. "What the fuck happened to you? Were you attacked by a wild animal or something?"

I shrugged.

Briefly looking around she gently pulled me in and slammed the door shut.

"Did Dace do this to you?" I noticed the anger in her tone.

"No" my voice sounded croaked. It must be from the wound, even speaking caused a burn to my throat.

"Then who did this?" a flap of anger flashed her eyes.

"Getting angry for a ’vampire’ huh?"

"It doesn’t matter," she snapped. "Vampire or not you haven’t done anything to deserve this" and then she paused. "Why did you come here?"

I hugged myself.

"I didn’t want to be alone"
