Chapter 380: An Alpha And His Responsibility

EMMA

~

I came out here with a lie that I needed some air, instead, I came to see if the landscape of this area remained the same so that I could plan my escape. It was just as I remembered, except for a few changes, I noticed the mansion was more expanded.

Singe did the honors of following me around, this man had not taken his eyes off me the entire day, I figured he was given the duty to watch over me, just one?

Dace must have underestimated me too much but then again he could be he was the best option to watch me and he reeked of Rogue and his aura was just as overwhelming.

Not as overwhelming as the aura that just dived into the area. The hairs at the back of my neck stood up and I knew who that aura belongs to...

Dace.

I let my eyes dart and I regret it, the couple were together and I have never felt bitterness such as this, her hands locked around his strong arms, one I remember always holding and gripping tightly. He looked tired or possibly tipsy, it’s odd but I knew even alcohol could drown any man.

Even in that state, he can make any woman fall to their knees, with just a look, he was in a three-piece suit, with no tie, a habit he still has, I let my eyes linger even as they met mine, his gaze was bored and dark so I let my orbs drift away and back to observing nature, if I look more I might crumble.

I heard their footsteps and I knew they were gone which gave me relief.

I cleared my throat, gaining the attention of the man before me helping himself to a book, a man as big as this was reading a book, Singe is an interesting man.

"Is there anything I can help you with, Countess?" he asked, still keeping his concentration on the book.

"I didn’t picture you for a reading type Rogue and all"

He flipped to the next page. "Many judge books from their cover, you’re no exception"

"I remember Rogues being unable to wield humanity"

"My Alpha changed that"

I felt warmth in my chest but I ignored the feeling. "An Alpha and his responsibility to his Pride. There’s at least one thing honorable about him"

"You speak as if you know what that means" his gaze held mine.

I shrugged. "It’s close to being a leader, isn’t it? A leader who cares about his people. I guess termination of all vampires will let the werelions coming generations be free from their mortal enemies"

He narrowed his eyes at my words. "Others think of that as the Alpha being Insane. But you think otherwise?"

"I’m not in support of your Alpha’s bloody plan Singe, but I understand where he is coming from" I dismissed looking back into the wild.

I should tread carefully and not forget the role I play.

Singe said nothing else which I was thankful for... so I guess he was back to his book. But I can’t help but think how the last five years have been for Dace. I remember the Rogues being lost from their humanity and judging from how Singe responded I think Dace must have saved the Rogues, he did not only rule over them but gave them something they lost many years ago.

I could only imagine the level of respect they have for him.

"Singe!"

"Fuck"

I raised an eyebrow, that was the first time I had seen him lose his edge. And that voice sounded familiar.

"What did I tell you about staying away?!"

I let my eyes dart. Emilia. A feeling took over me and forgot to breathe.

"If you’re talking about the guest room used at the side of your Suite, it was an order from the Alpha"

"I don’t want you invading my personal space, not you or Dace, it is off limits!" she exploded. She was about to do so again and her eyes met mine and she paused. "Who are you?" she asked. "That scent... is she a fucking vampire?!"

"The guest... " Singe clarified.

Emilia’s hair was still kept short just as I remember and her signature bangs still remained too. She is just as beautiful as I remembered even better and I was almost on the verge of smiling at that thought but I held it in.

"That is not my fucking concern, why didn’t he use his own guest room?!"

"Ms. Emilia"

"Don’t!" she snapped at him before her eyes met mine, I didn’t see any hate or anything or probably because she didn’t care who I was, her orbs darted to the bite mark. "A guest or a prisoner?"

"Someone finally said something that makes sense in the past hours," I said in a sarcastic tone with an eye roll.

"This is the Countess... Emmaline Zalatoris"

"Fuck... he went through with it? He’s insane!"

"We agree on something too," I said once again and I couldn’t help the smile that found my lips. Her anger was just as explosive.

"So you’re the Countess the rumors are all forging about... you smell different" her nose wrinkled.

Just as blunt as ever.

"Did he hurt you?"

I wasn’t expecting her to ask that, she looked curious and her eyes lingered on my bite wound.

"Not yet"

She gulped, and she faced Singe back. "She leaves my guest room, she should be in his not mine!" she finalized before storming out.

The only sound was Singe’s heavy sigh and I got the feeling it wasn’t the first time she exploded at him.

I was in Emilia’s section of the Mansion, and I just realized that now, they each still have their own floor, and yet Dace kept me in Emilia’s, according to him I was his guest so why not his?

I tried not to linger on that thought and the only thing I could think of was he probably didn’t want to spar me any glance, at least it was better than staying in a dark room with torture tools. I just hope Emilia’s tantrum ends or else I will get kicked out of this room.

The sudden sound of something close to my window caught my attention and I was off the bed abruptly.

"Who’s there?!" I demanded threading close to it and suddenly something jumped at me and into my arms.

"Mistress!!!!"

"T-Tiger?"
