BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 369: The Dark Alpha {2}
Chapter 369: The Dark Alpha {2}
I walked out of the room and the door shut behind me. "Get that mess cleaned up," I ordered one of my men. I got my clothes bloody after all, but I got what I needed.
After three years of dragging back and forth, I was finally closer to something, it was little info but at least I know it’s accurate enough. Accurate to lead me somewhere rather than blindly chasing those damn blood suckers. Each time I think of them my blood boils.
"Alpha," Singe welcomed with a nod, I walked past him and stepped into my wide office.
"Rejoice Singe, I have a lead," I said to the young lad.
He huffed. "The vampire talked?"
"Why wouldn’t he?" I said grabbing a bottle of Vodka and turning some into the glass on the table.
"I have been with him for a whole week and he didn’t say a damn thing," he said behind me and I smirked. "But as expected from you Alpha you have your way"
"It was going easy not until it got to a part I had to use force," I said referring to the blood on my shirt as I took a sip from my drink. "Did you hear? Luther has a Countess"
"A Countess? Are the rumors true?"
I grinned. "Indeed"
Singe has been by my side for 5 years... just like the others he has only just gotten accustomed to learning the ways of being human, in terms of speech and dressing, it was like training a newborn baby the first steps, one look at him right now and you can’t tell he has been in the wild for close to a century with nothing but his primal instinct keeping him alive.
The past years have been time-consuming for me, I not only focused on my Pride but also the vampire society, they are getting under my skin without even trying. They made a big fool of my Clan when the previous Count did the honors by striking a deal with my father. That was the highest of them all... we were like oil and water, we were never meant to mix, what my father did caused an internal feud and it was up to me to clean up his fucking mess.
Singe leaned his back against the wall and folded his arms, a habit he does when he’s in deep thought or relatively pressing his thumb and index finger under his chin, it was either of those two. I just drowned myself in another glass of Vodka, sitting halfway on my table.
"The vampire society has a Countess, and you know her location?"
I took one last chug of my drink before settling the glass back on my table, the alcohol burned my throat but that was the least of my concern. I grabbed a remote and pressed the button, a screen TV came just in between the shelves holding antiques.
A map footage came up the screen.
"Washington, I think there’s a vampire base there... according to the vampire, it’s heavily secured"
"A secured nest, someone important must be there"
"Luther went through all the trouble after all, what do you think, Singe?" I said taking a packet of cigarettes and taking one between my lips.
"I think this Countess... rumors or not is quite important"
"Something important to Luther," I said, litting the bottom of the stick and taking a drag. "You think he will react when I take it?" I mused. The excitement coursed through my blood, no one likes it when someone or something precious is taken from them, they act like spoiled children when it happens.
"We haven’t gotten anything from him, no matter how close we get, I think this source of information will lead to it," he said, convinced.
"But it’s still not enough," I said in thought. There is something that bugs me.
He narrowed his eyes. "Why do you say so?"
I took the stick out of my mouth blowing a cloud of smoke around me. "A mysterious Countess of Luther Zalatoris, it’s too suspicious"
"You think there is way more? Like a trap"
I shrugged, rising to my full length. "Not a trap but way more"
I heard approaching footsteps and before Singe could react the door already barged open.
"Can’t you fucking knock?" I snapped.
Emilia kept her dark hazel on me, the hate brewing deep in her eyes, wouldn’t be the first time in years. "There is blood all over the corridor, who the fuck did you torture again?"
I ignored her, rounding my table and taking a seat, getting relaxed. "I was working"
"Working? Is that why you’re covered in blood?"
"Ms. Emilia, you can-"
"Don’t!" she growled at Singe who shut his mouth instantly, raising his hand in defense at her glare.
"Careful," I warned slowly. I won’t tolerate her speaking to my subordinates like that for no reason.
She huffed. "Who did you torture this time?"
"A vampire?" I said like wasn’t it obvious, I was on the verge of rolling my eyes now.
She sighed. "This needs to stop, Dace"
"It’s Alpha to you" I corrected. "And since when do you tell me what to do? Sister?"
She gulped, she looked intimidated just by my gaze and I wasn’t even letting my aura storm free, that look was in her eyes again, the one that looked at me like I was some monster. She’s not wrong about that, I am my own monster and I’m not about to be concerned about that. I don’t give two shits.
"The vampires don’t bother us"
"Do they?" I nudged my head to Singe.
"We lost a handful of the Pride this year," he said.
"Only because you attacked them!"
"It’s simple, sister... as long as the vampires walk this earth, they will be our mortal enemies, remember the mess they got us in?"
"Instead of chasing ghosts shouldn’t you think about mom? What she has to endure!"
"Enough, I don’t wanna hear that right now," I said leaning forward, pressing the bottom of my cigarette on the silver plate on my desk.
"Charming words for someone who ripped her husband’s heart right in front of her!"
