BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 332: Fitting In
Chapter 332: Fitting In
"So Mister Adams, how was the lesson? I know things will be confusing for you but I assure you, you will get the hang of it" Professor Colton with a smile on his lips.
Grayson mumbled something under his breath.
"He’s not taking this well is he?" Owen whispered to my ears and I shivered.
"H-He will get a hang of it," I said watching as Colton further questioned him with a book laid out on the table in front of them.
He was easy with Grayson and I respect that, Professor Colton was giving him all his attention.
"You okay?"
"What?" I faced Owen, his worried eyes on me and he was close... too close.
"You look pale... when was the last time you ate?"
I opened my mouth to speak, when was the last time I ate?
"Emma"
"I’m fine really"
"No, you’re not, there are bags under your eyes, haven’t you been sleeping?"
We were distracted when we heard a laugh from Miles and Henry...
"Great, now we have another half-blood in this class reserved for elites," Sophie said, god I wish I didn’t have to deal with her attitude or unpleasant looks right now. She and her perfect blonde hair and nasty attitude wasn’t something I want to add to my already bad day.
I have not heard anything from Dace, his phone isn’t going at all and it was all back to square one, completely ghosted, it always resulted in this but I was more worried this time because he’s dealing with something that might change his life forever and I just sat here, in class, learning magic and reading Grimoires, not what I want to do right now.
I even sent Emilia tons of messages... Thankfully she reads them but doesn’t reply, I just hope everything is okay. Not being around Dace was torture and I felt unmotivated to do anything.
But I needed to be supportive... for Grayson, If I decided to take a sick break he wouldn’t want to come alone and that will fuel a certain clan leader to be in our necks.
"He easily read his first Grimoire, he’s a natural" Owen said.
"Yeah" I nodded in agreement with a small smile on my lips, It was really difficult for me and yet he got a hang of it quickly maybe because he wasn’t an elemental witch like me, Grayson was a Newblood, a healing trait that was last seen from my grandparents, so spells he would focus on were healing qualities, not much but very rare. I bet Oliver could kiss the ground he walks on right now. Grayson was the only healer in the clan right now, Hence the pressure.
"I hate your dad," I said.
A sigh was released from Owen. "Been hating him and his thick head ever since"
"Yo Emma, this will be fun," Henry said with his usual goofy smile and I can’t say I did not miss it, it was nice to be around Henry again with his usual playful self and Miles with his serious personality. And of course Sophie with her annoying attitude but I can’t deny the secret glance she gave Grayson once in a while.
Yes, I noticed... the moment Grayson walked into class she had been ogling my brother, secretly, but sending disgusted looks to me, like for real? Well too bad... he’s already taken and Grayson looked more annoyed to be here.
Except...
"Check this out," Grayson said with a smile on his lips taking a bird out of its cage. "Look, it hurt its wings"
"Aww"
The bird whistled.
"But not for long" he covered his palm on the injured wing and took a deep breath before closing his eyes. A smile on my lips as I watched him focus so much, he looked pretty determined to do this.
I gasped when his palm resting on the injured wing glowed like a light gulp, giving it that sunny look like the insides of his hand had a torch. It got transparent too and I could see his veins and his bones.
Whoa!
Suddenly the bird chirps loudly before flying out of his hand.
"You did it!" I exclaimed and he chuckled.
"Getting the hang of it I guess" he shrugged, sounding smug.
Proud idiot
But my smile suddenly fades when I notice a red liquid streaming down his nose. "Grayson"
He caught on as he used his thumb to wipe the blood off. "Guess my body can’t handle little magic too"
As half-bloods... either powerful or weak spells take a toll on our bodies. I was really hoping it wasn’t the same case for Grayson but I was wrong.
"Do you think..." I began with heavy breathing. "There might be a spell that could help"
He blinks in confusion. "Help with what?"
I have been thinking about this ever since that night we talked and it just might be a possibility. "Help with Dace, a spell that can stop his transition to a Rogue... like rewrite his DNA to back as it use to be’’
"I don’t Emma, is there one?"
"I think they should be," I said, already walking ahead. We both came to the garden where there were multiple cages holding various birds.
"Emma, are you sure about this?"
"Not entirely but I can’t just sit here, learn magic, go to school and pretend my boyfriend isn’t having a hard time," I said, fighting back the tears that were almost spilling from my eyes.
Fuck I want to cry so bad... but I’m done crying my heart out, I need to find a way to help Dace.
"I understand" he grabbed my arm and twirled me to face him. "But are you sure we will find a spell in the library?"
He was right... This was just a silly notion I came up with, but I have learned something ever since attending night school. There’s always a spell for everything we just have to look at the right place.
"We won’t know until we check"
