BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 307: Keeping An Eye Out For The New Adams
Chapter 307: Keeping An Eye Out For The New Adams
OWEN
~
The past week has been a frenzied one, not just for the Adams, but for us too. The Venatores have left town, that was a surprise but I guess a tribe like that wouldn’t wanna stay under the same roof as the same species they spend most of their time hunting, no one would... so they chose to leave knowing full well we were aware of them and that was one thing the Venatores didn’t like... part of what I read about them.
And one of the most surprising of them all was Emma’s twin brother, which came as a serious shock for me, I mean twins? How? There were a lot of loopholes but a blood test has been drawn if I remember correctly and Grayson ended up being 100% Adams. There are so many questions but I knew someone or something must have separated them at birth and erased Vivian’s memory of Grayson, a well-crafted plan if you ask me, and a ’why’ was in question.
I mean why go through the trouble of separating them at birth? There must be a reason for it, I know it and I can feel it. Grayson is Emma’s brother so that means he has a half witch blood too, does that mean he’s a vortex just like Emma? god, I hope that wasn’t true or else that would be a handful. But that doesn’t mean my dad won’t be cautious, the old man went outta his way to secure Grayson and dissolve any dispute.
I’m sure he has something up his sleeves, he always does and I’m certain Emma must have sensed it. god I miss seeing her face, I no longer had the time to see her or that wasn’t the case, she was getting distant from me, I might have feelings for her but that doesn’t mean I want our friendship to end... she’s special to me.
But ever since she awoke from her coma she has changed in a sort of way like she was growing further away from me, I guess it has to be because she can’t date Dace anymore, maybe she sees me as an obstacle in her relationship. How can’t she? I was always opposing from the very beginning and I still am... a werelion and witch blood cannot mix, this wasn’t out of my personal grudge or desire but a well-known fact and a matter of bloodline and chaos, two different bloodline does not mix it causes dispute, chaos, and internal feud, that was not something we can handle.
But Emma never understands that and I get that, she was only just introduced to the supernatural world and knew little of how it works, she has no idea how wrong this relationship is or how dire it was. Dace on the other hand is convinced that she bears his mark or whatever he calls it and she’s destined for him, but how true can that be and how real can that mark be that just suddenly appeared on Emma? I knew nothing of the werelion’s ways or their tradition...their way of life is always kept secret... only what they choose for the outsider to know they reveal, such wily beasts!
"Owen"
I twirled my head at the call of my name and watched my dad approaching me. I figured sooner or later he would.
"Let me guess you want to know more about Grayson... I already told you what I know, he has traits like Venator, I haven’t seen his half-warlock side or whatever"
"That is not completely why I came to you, son"
"Then what? It gotta be about them" I rolled my eyes.
"Emma is my only concern for now because of what she is capable of, Grayson has just come into the picture and we know nothing about him or what his warlock side is capable of, he might or might not be a Vortex"
"And?" I urged, knowing there was more.
"But that doesn’t mean we should just sit idle, we have two half-bloods now, something we never calculated, you know what this means?"
I turned my brown eyes to him.
"He has to attend Night school just like Emma, with that we can keep a closer eye on him"
I huffed. "He hasn’t even adjusted to his new family yet..."
"I know but the earlier the better, I’m sure Vanessa will understand this too, he has to know how to control his powers, it’s also what is best for him.
"And a way of keeping both of them wrapped under your fingers," I said with yet another eye roll. I get it my dad was an eminent leader and somewhat retaining but I knew why he does this, he does this for balance and peace... I understood him perfectly well and he was right.. having two half-bloods was not something we calculated and yet it all seems like a very serious coincidence.
"I do hope you haven’t forgotten the mission I entrusted you with..."
I darted my leveled gaze to his. "No," I mumbled.
"I’m sure you’re working towards it and have a plan?"
"Yes"
Trust me it was always on my mind and I was getting eager, mostly because I knew that even though Emma was not allowed to see Dace she still does in the shadows, Dace was one stubborn guy and I knew he would go through any length even though it endangers her. These beasts only care about what they want, he has no idea that constantly circling her life like that was like howling the means for danger toward her life.
My teeth clenched just at the thought of it.
"Don’t worry I have a plan, just give me time"
He folded his arms on his broad chest before nodding. "Good" he mouths only, before releasing them and walking past me.
"Do you think the Venatores really just gave up and left like that because of your terms?"
I heard him stop in his tracks at my question.
"Even though they spent little time here they still don’t know where the werelions den is"
I twirled and faced his back. "You told them?"
He faced me and smiled. "No, why would I? I may be a tyrant to you but I’m not wicked, I still have a peace treaty of your forefathers to honor"
I gulped because I didn’t know if I should believe him or not but one thing I knew was even though my dad was all crafty he was a loyal man.
"I’m just as curious as you Owen"
"About what?"
"If the Venatores really just left like that..." he mouths in amusement.
