BLOOD LEGACIES -
Chapter 183: The Newbie
Chapter 183: The Newbie
"I have to go to the principal office," Dace suddenly said the moment we were in the halls. And we both came to a sudden stop.
"Do you have to go?" I didn’t like the idea of him leaving me that soon, the thought of him parting with me always scared me, it might sound silly of me but that was exactly how I feel. I felt just a slight distance was like he was away in another country. I was trying to convince myself it was because of the time I spent in Night school but the other part of myself was telling me that with each day that went by I can’t stand being apart from him so I frowned.
As if he sensed my mood swing, he smiled using his thumb to rub my palm, sending an electrifying feeling to my body. I hummed to myself at the simple gesture that was enough to storm a fire within me, which was already happening... Just a simple touch from him can do things to my body which I would very well welcome.
"I may have leverage but there are certain things to cover up," Dace said to me. Hoping that I did... I do understand but I was having an internal battle with myself but I smiled, either way, I can’t keep frowning.
"Like your missing exams?" I mused.
And he did a thoughtful expression that made me analyze his features from this angle and just so breathtakingly perfect as always.
"We both know that it doesn’t matter when it comes to you," I added.
He smiled more "But still protocol must be followed," he said and I followed every movement of his lips, unaware I was ogling it now, fuck they look wet and I want them on mine.
Like my prayers were heard he leaned to me and took my cheek instead of my lips in a soft tender matter that got me moaning slightly. Even after this action that I knew clearly stated a brief goodbye he didn’t let go of my hand.
I felt he was hesitant to leave me. Just like I was, I subconsciously clenched his hand more which he followed in the same way but I knew someone has to say the words, or else we will both be staring at each other eyeball to eyeball without thinking about the class or anything.
I should be the one but I was tempted not to, I was dying not to... so I just did what I had to.
"Go on I will be fine," I broke the spell with a sweet smile on my lips I could muster hoping to motivate him. But yet he didn’t move, watching me closely, we were in the middle of the hall displaying this line of heated gaze, and funny because right now it felt like it was just him and I without the passing crowd around us. The rest of the world always seems to disappear whenever I let myself be consumed by those beautiful hazels of his.
"Come on" I giggled until he finally let me go.
"I will be right back okay?" he said, still hesitant. I nodded until he finally walked away and watching him right now, funny to say, was like watching a part of me leave. Just how much of this feels? I can understand it but it was yet for me to grasp, maybe it was the mark? He paused for a minute looking at me over his shoulder and continuing, I exhaled sharply.
"Emma!" Henry came from nowhere hovering over me from behind and I almost fell, well I just stumbled thanks to him and if it wasn’t for his arm around my neck I would have definitely fallen.
"Take it, easy dude!"
"Sorry" he laughed as he led me to class.
"Welcome to torment school" he lets me go rushing to his seat.
"This is his torment school for him, he prefers night school," Miles said passing me from behind, shaking his head.
"Stop acting like a jerk," Miles told him.
"Really?" I said still trying to rephrase what he said, Night school was better than high school, and here I thought both were the worst of them all!
"Yup," Owen said, "Hey" he smiled sweetly at me.
"Hey" I smiled but then it faded when I saw Sarah coming in, we looked at each other for a second, she was about to say something but I quickly walked to my seat, I’m not sure what she wanted to say but I wasn’t sure I could stomach it. What was she doing here anyway? I thought she wasn’t coming back.
"Alright everybody, settle down" Our teacher strolled in. "Nice to see all of you in one piece this summer"
I leaned on my seat.
"You heard? A new family is in town" I heard a murmur behind me and I couldn’t help but let my ears wander in. A new family? Wow everyone seems to know who and what enters Juneau, I guess it’s the perks of being a supernatural town.
"A week ago or so,"
I think it was Henry speaking now, so I turned to watch him speak with Miles and Owen.
"Yeah we heard"
"So what do you think? They are supernaturals?"
"I don’t think so, the barrier only lets humans in, if they are supernaturals we would have known"
"Quiet down all of you, Jesus!" The teacher said yet again rubbing her forehead.
The class fell silent and she dropped her handouts on the table.
"Thank you for the silence," she said with a touch of sarcasm. "We have a new student"
Her words gained our attention and little mumbles filled the classroom.
"You can come in now," she said to the door, and at her cue, the door opened.
I sighed looking away, Dace wasn’t here yet and I was getting all antsy without him, I really needed to see his face again.
Suddenly when a footstep made its way into the classroom a cold strong chill filled my very bones and I froze up where I was, I paused almost like I couldn’t breathe and at the same time, I could. At that semi-time pause, I could hear my heart throbbing hard in my chest almost like it would fall off, the sound echoing in my ear drums. What is this? What is this feeling? It was so overwhelming that it took me off guard and the hairs at the back of my neck stood up in alert. I didn’t know if because of danger or because I was scared I just couldn’t pinpoint the feeling, it was hazy and unpredictable like having a fogged glass set in front of you... all I knew was there was a very strong urge to turn my head to where that particular footstep chimed.
Which I did... painfully slow because it felt like my heart would leap out of my heart in heated anticipation. My breathing picked up and my palms sweaty, it took forever until I set my eyes on the standing figure in front of the class taking the undying attention of everyone.
I held my breath briefly as I studied his features. He was tall, I think the same height as Dace. And he was dressed in all-black clothing with not a single color on his body. Black jeans, a black shirt, and a black jean jacket. The headset around his neck was a matching color too, even his school bag. That was a lot of black clothing for one person.
When I moved to his face, I think my body twisted in a way I can’t explain, my eyes wide and my chest with my constant throbbing as I took in all in. He had well-defined features just like any handsome guy around here, but it gave an off feeling that gave me chills. He had dark shoulder-length hair set in a wavy style clearly thick and full that he kept in a low bun, it had a unique color that made it seem brown but like gold, dark, he let some fall at the corners of his face right in front of his ears and... his eyes... don’t get me started there, they were forest green like mine, but his... cold, warm? I can’t tell just blank, even his facial expression is blank.
He stood like a wall, one hand in his jean jacket and the other gripping the bag he had on one shoulder, I noticed the sleeve of his shirt covered all the way to his knuckles and that was when I got a glimpse of his overly paled skin like he was made out snow, his lips were a light shade of red too, perfectly flawless smooth skin, showing all his definite boyish charms.
"So your name... tell the class your name," our teacher said and it was only her voice that could be heard, because the whole class fell dead silent like a graveyard, for the very first time. And that was when it hit me... I thought everyone knew the names of newbies.
He shrugged his shoulders almost like he was stretching and I gulped because of how broad they were.
"Grayson Yaeger"
